Nasheman News : With the arrest of three persons including two school owners, the Delhi Police claimed to have busted a fake education board syndicate that cheated over 10,000 students in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and other states, an officer said on Wednesday.
Altaf Raja, 23, Manoj Kumar, 32, and Shambhu Nath Mishra, 46 — all residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria and Balrampur districts — were arrested in separate raids between December 12 and 23.
“Police teams first arrested Altaf Raja while giving fake board certificate of higher secondary to a decoy customer in Vikas Puri of Delhi. Altaf Raja was granted 10-day police remand. Following his interrogation, Shamnbu Nath Mishra and Manoj Kumar, owners of two schools in Deoria, were arrested from their locations in Uttar Pradesh,” Additional Commissioner of Police Rajiv Ranjan told media.
“During investigation, we found that Altaf Raja and his accomplices were operating fake education board named ‘Board of Higher Secondary Education’ in Vikas Puri. They had cheated over 10,000 innocent students after convincing that their board is recognised and provides mark-sheets and certificates of 10th and 12th in only two to three months for Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000,” Ranjan said.
“The gang members collected the details of students on WhatsApp and received the amount in their bank accounts,” the officer said.
“A complaint in this regard was also received from the Directorate of Education of Delhi,” the officer said, adding that Altaf Raja was last year arrested by the Delhi Police for running another similar fake education board in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony.
After being later released on bail, Altaf again started a similar racket with his accomplices.
“The gang members, active in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat and other states, were involved in circulating and distributing mark-sheets and certificates of their fake education board which has 23 websites,” he said.
“A large numbers of fake mark-sheets, certificates, provisional certificates and migration certificates, answer sheets, nominal rolls, question papers, record registers of students, and certificates of Class 10 and 12 were recovered from their possession,” he added.

Muslim women urge for unanimous passage of triple talaq bill
Nasheman News : The Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) on Wednesday called upon the government and the opposition parties to pass the law on Muslim triple talaq bill through “consensus, without political point-scoring”.
On Thursday, the Parliament is scheduled to discuss the proposed The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017, after the government issued an Ordinance on it earlier this year.
The Ordinance was brought after the government failed to push it through the Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament owing to lack of unanimity among various political parties, said BMMA Co-Founder Zakia Soman.
The Ordinance makes instant triple talaq a punishable offence with a three-year jail term, and Soman urged that it would be ideal if both Houses of Parliament pass the Bill unanimously, especially since some important amendments have been made to the original Bill.
For the much-anticipated legislation, she said that today women across the country are protesting, writing to women’s commissions and observing token fasts for legal protection.
“We urge all political parties to recognise, acknowledge and extend their support to the demands of Muslim women. For too long have they (Muslim women) been discriminated against the faced insecurity, fears for life, threats of instant divorce, polygamy, juvenile marriage and deprivation of inheritance rights,” said Soman.
However, now the Muslim women have organised themselves, armed with the knowledge of both their constitutional rights and rights as per the Quran, which need to be acknowledged and realised by all political parties, she pointed out.
“The tide is turning. This law, if it becomes a reality, will be important and the BMMA will continue to fight for comprehensive codification of Muslim family law where gender-just provisions pertaining to age of marriage, mehr, consent, polygamy, halala, muta, maintenance and inheritance are also legislated upon,” Soman added.
The BMMA has published its version of a comprehensive Muslim family law and demanded that the government consider the same for further discussions to work towards a comprehensive law which has been hanging for long, she said.

Ahwaan Kumar Has An Accident While Shooting For ‘Kaal Bhairav Rahasaya 2’
Ahwaan Kumar loves being part of Kaal Bhairav Rahasya 2. However, the actor had to unfortunately, undergo an accident on the sets recently which resulted in his hair getting burnt. “Actually, we were shooting at night for Kaal Bhairav Rahasaya 2 in a jungle & we had a scene where Veer goes missing. So, Kashinath, I & the other people go and search for him in the jungle. As it is night time, we take fire torches & search around for Veer. Suddenly, we see Laali’s spirit & everyone runs away except me. So, when the person beside me was running, his fire torch slipped from his hand & that somehow touched my hair & it got burnt. But luckily, I managed to put the fire off,” says the actor. However, he is making sure to give his hair extra attention after the incident. “I am one of those people who really take care of their hair. For me, hair is something which is the most precious thing in my body. I always oil my hair, shampoo it & do everything to take care of it. So, after this incident I have been taking more care of it, I hope it never happens again in my life,” he says.
Mohammad Nazim Says That These Days No One Typecasts An Actor
Mohammad Nazim, who was seen as the negative lead in the show Udaan, says that he loved being part of the show. The actor adds that he loved his character & the feedback was amazing as well. “It is a very good experience as it was my 1st ever time of playing a negative lead. It was a very good character & I tried my best to do justice to it. Now, I am also getting a good response from the audience as well,” he says. Ask him if he found playing a negative character challenging, and he says, “It was a very challenging role as I am a Punjabi & the character has a typical Bihari accent. It was a tough task to learn this accent as I have never spoken in Bihari. I did a lot of preparations to learn this accent. I think the most challenging role is a negative one. For this, I changed my driver to one who speaks in Bihari so that most of the time I could converse with him in Bihari & could understand the language & accent. You have to work more on your expression & your body language too to prepare for a negative role.” Contrary to what many may feel, Nazim doesn’t think people typecast you anymore. “I think there is no such thing as being typecast. It totally depends on your skills & your talent and how you play a character. For example, Shahrukh has done varied negative roles say in Baazigar, Don etc. It doesn’t mean that he was typecast for doing such roles and he will not get any positive roles. I think you never get typecast, it all depends on your acting skills & talent,” he says. Mohammed Nazim has a few dream roles in mind. “I would like to do historical shows like Karn Sangini, Dastaan – E – Mohabbat Salim Anarkali,” he says, adding, “I would love to do that type of shows if I get a chance as the audience will be able to see a different side of me. I think that physique doesn’t matter. All that matters is your talent, skills & hard work.” Talking about physique, the actor is a fitness enthusiast & even plans to open a gym in his hometown soon. “I will open a gym by 2020. I think going to the gym will spread a good message of living a healthy life. If somebody becomes Mr. Punjab or achieve any title, then the gym would be free of cost to them. The main aim is to achieve awareness about fitness in my hometown Markotla,” he says.
Grandmom arrested for murdering 1 month old grandson
The accused claimed that she was worried about the financial toll the child would have on her son, the father.
Days after a 29-day-old infant was found smothered to death in Bengaluru’s Viveknagar, Ashoknagar police arrested the baby’s grandmother on the grounds of murder. 53-year-old Vijayalakshmi was taken into custody by the police on Tuesday after she confessed to the crime.
On December 21, at around 5.30pm, Vijayalakshmi had strangled the child with her dupatta while the child’s mother, Stella, was tending to the baby’s twin in another room. She then covered the baby with her dupatta and placed it under the cot before going for her routine evening walk.
When Stella found her son missing, she informed her husband and Vijayalakshmi’s son, Karthik. The duo approached the Ashoknagar police to give a complaint. Police came and searched the home and found the child under the cot and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Central) D Devaraja said that Vijayalakshmi had committed the crime because she felt that the child would be too much of a financial strain on her son. “My second grandson was born with health problems and was treated for 10 days after birth. The treatment continued even after we brought him home. On Thursday, my son and daughter-in-law decided to change their doctor as the baby showed no sign of improvement. He was treated for two days at a private nursing home in Fraser Town. I was worried he may not survive and it would burden my jobless son. So I decided to murder the child as my son would, anyway, be left with the other baby. I killed him when Stella was in the washroom,” Vijayalakshmi told the police.
However, there are also allegations that Vijayalakshmi was upset with her son’s decision to marry a woman of a different religion, which prompted her to commit the crime.

Bank strike against merger hits services across Karnataka
B A day-long strike by the employees and officers of the state-run banks against the merger of three public sector banks (PSBs) paralysed services across Karnataka on Wednesday, a union official said.
“The response to our strike call is overwhelming as over 1 lakh employees in about 5,000 bank branches stayed away from work to protest against the merger of Vijaya Bank, Dena Bank and Bank of Baroda,” All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) General Secretary S.K. Srinivas told IANS here.
The strike, second in a week after December 21 strike for wage revision, affected all categories of customers, as no transaction could take place though bank branches were “officially” open for business.
“Though boards of the three banks approved the merger despite opposition by their employees, the strike is to express our solidarity with them as we are against denationalisation and privatisation of state-owned banks,” said Srinivas.
Defending the strike, the trade union leader said if the employees and officers do not protest against the merger of the three banks now, the government would be emboldened to merge the remaining PSBs and privatise them eventually.
“The 1969 bank nationalisation was to usher in mass banking in place of class banking, which benefit only the rich and corporates without priority lending and social commitment. This government is reversing the 50-year-old policy and undoing all that the state-run banks have done for the common man,” reiterated Srinivas.
In spite of opposition by employees, including offices, the government merged the associated banks of the State Bank of India (SBI) last year, setting a bad precedence though they were affiliated to it and the latter (SBI) had majority ownership, recalled Srinivasa, who is also the General Secretary of the SBI Officers’ Association.
“But the merger of SBI with its sister banks led to closure of hundreds of branches across the country in the name of rationalisation and optimisation of the workforce,” said Srinivas.
As banks were closed from Friday to Sunday and again on Tuesday for Christmas, clearance of cheques and drafts were affected with no inter or intra-banking transactions.
“As we are aware of the impact the strike would have on customers, we worked on Monday to ensure them our services,” added Srinivas.

The teenagers, who were studying at French Camp Academy in Mississippi, had come to Coudriets’ house for the holidays at their invitation.
Their parents, Srinivas Naik and Sujatha Naik, had recently shifted back to India.
“The Naik family are missionaries in India that our church supports,” said a statement by Coudriet’s Collierville Bible Church.

“At this time, we are asking for privacy and discretion regarding the missionary children. The family is in route from India and many of the details of the events are still being communicated to the family.
