Nasheman News : Three more persons, including Telugu film comedian Surya Prasad, were arrested on Thursday in the murder case of Florida-based NRI businessman Chigurupati Jayaram, police said.
Besides Prasad, the police also took Kishore and Anji Reddy into custody.
Deputy Commissioner of Police A.R. Srinivas told reporters that they have almost completed the investigations into the case.
He said the investigations revealed that Jayaram’s niece Shikha Chowdary had no role in the murder.
According to police, main accused Rakesh Reddy had hatched a conspiracy to extort money from Jayaram. Surya Prasad and Kishore brought Jayaram to his house in posh Jubilee Hills and it was here that the businessman was murdered. Anji Reddy reached Rakesh Reddy’s house after the murder but did not inform police.
On allegations that Rakesh Reddy spoke to couple of police officers after the murder, the DCP said they were conducting investigations.
He said while Rakesh Reddy had relations with politicians but there was no evidence of any political involvement in the crime.
The body of Jayaram, 55, who was director of Coastal Bank, was found on the back seat of his car off the national highway near Nandiagama close to Vijayawada on January 31.
Jayaram, also a Managing Director of Express TV, a now defunct Telugu channel, had come to Hyderabad from the US a few days earlier.
The crime was first investigated by the Andhra Pradesh Police, which arrested Rakesh Reddy and his security guard. The case was later transferred to Telangana after it was revealed that Jayaram was murdered at a house in Hyderabad and his body was dumped in Andhra Pradesh.
Jayaram’s wife Padmashri has also demanded a probe against Shikha, who was allegedly in a relationship with Rakesh Reddy.
She had said that after the murder, Shikha barged into their house in Jubilee Hills and that some key documents and valuables were found missing subsequently.

YSR Congress leader Y.S.Vivekananda Reddy dead
Nasheman News : YSR Congress party leader and former Andhra Pradesh Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy died of cardiac arrest on Friday, his family said. He was 68.
Vivekananda, also a former Lok Sabha member, suffered cardiac arrest at his residence in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district.
He was the younger brother of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
He is survived by wife and a daughter.
He was elected from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency on Congress party ticket in 1999 and 2004. He was twice elected to Andhra Pradesh Assembly (1989, 1994) from Pulivendula, a family stronghold.
Vivekananda was also elected to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council in 2009 and served as Agriculture Minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet.
He remained loyal to Congress when Jaganmohan Reddy raised a banner of revolt against the party for not picking him as the successor of his father and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy following his death in a helicopter crash in 2009.
Jagan Reddy had alleged that Congress tried to engineer split in the family by making Vivekananda a Minister. The young leader subsequently floated YSR Congress party.
Vivekananda contested 2011 bye-election to Pulivendula constituency against his sister-in-law and Jagan’s mother Y.S. Vijayamma, who contested as YSR Congress candidate and won the seat with a huge majority.
Vivekananda later quit Congress party and joined YSR Congress. He lost elections to the Legislative Council in 2017.
40 die in New Zealand mosques massacre
Nasheman News : At least 40 people were killed when gunmen said to be whites opened indiscriminate fire at two mosques in Christchurch city on Friday in what Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described as “one of New Zealand’s darkest days”.
The shootings took place at the Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Masjid, The New Zealand Herald reported.
One gunman, believed to be Australian, filmed as he shot victims in the mosque – and wrote a manifesto declaring his intentions, saying that “it is a terrorist attack”, Police Commissioner Mike Bush said.
He said there were also multiple improvised explosive devices attached to vehicles as part of the attack.
“This goes to the seriousness of the situation,” Bush said.
The Bangladesh cricket team now touring New Zealand had a narrow escape as the entire team had gone to one of the mosques near Hagley Park for Friday prayers.
Player Tamim Iqbal tweeted that the “entire team got saved from active shooters”.
Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus said most of the team had gone to the mosque by bus and were about to go inside when the incident took place.
Authorities immediately called off the New Zealand-Bangladesh third Test match that was set to be played in Christchurch.
Prime Minister Ardern confirmed the fatalities and described the killings as “extreme and unprecedented violence”. Police reported that four people — three men and a woman — had been arrested for the killings.
“We are not aware of other people but we cannot assume there are not others at large,” Bush told the media here.
The government advised people not to go to mosques until further notice. All Christchurch schools were hurriedly shut down.
One man, Robert Weatherhead, told Newstalk that he took in people who escaped from the Al Noor mosque.
He described the gunman as “white, aged in his 30s or 40s and wearing a uniform”, but he could not make out what the uniform was.
Another witness, who was in the front row of devotees when the gunman came in, told The New Zealand Herald that the suspect first shot people outside, adding that he heard the gun being reloaded about three times.
“The gunman began shooting in all directions,” the witness said.
A woman told the Christchurch Star she lay in her car near the mosque as four to five men came running towards her.

If Imran Khan is such a statesman, give us Masood Azhar: Sushma Swaraj
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said India cannot have dialogue with Pakistan unless the neighbouring country acted against terror outfits on its soil, asserting that “talks and terror cannot go together”.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said India cannot have dialogue with Pakistan unless the neighbouring country acted against terror outfits on its soil, asserting that “talks and terror cannot go together”. Talking on ‘India’s World: Modi Government’s Foreign Policy’, she stated that Pakistan needs to control the ISI and its army who are bent on destroying the bilateral relations time and again.
“We do not want talk on terror, we want action on it. Terror and talks cannot go together,” she said.
Swaraj also questioned Pakistan’s retaliation to the Indian air strikes in Balakot when, she said, India had specifically targeted the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
“Why did the Pakistani military attack us on behalf of JeM? You not only keep JeM on your soil, but fund them and when the victim country retaliates, you attack it on the terror outfit’s behalf. “If Imran Khan (Pakistan prime minister) is so generous and a statesman, he should give us Masood Azhar,” she said.
The external affairs minister said India can have a good relationship with Pakistan, provided the neighbouring country “takes action against terror groups on its soil”.
On her invitation to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting, she said India avenged the humilation meted out to it 50 years ago by becoming the ‘guest of honour’ at the OIC meet this year. “In 1969, India was humiliated when it was not allowed to participate in the meeting even after reaching the venue after Pakistan protested against India’s then foreign minister’s participation. But now, 50 years later, it was India that was on the seat of the guest of honour, while Pakistan’s seat was empty,” she said.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had expressed reservations about the invitation to Swaraj for the OIC meeting, and later decided to boycott the meeting of the 57-member Muslim grouping held earlier this month. Talking about the foreign policy of the current government, Swaraj said it was based upon the two principles of “national interest supreme” and “world is our family”.
“People often ask us what we get by our frequent travel to countries. I want to tell them we do not travel to have fun, we travel to build our relationship with other countries and it is because of our ties with these countries that we were able to rescue 7,000 people from Yemen. The strength of our bilateral ties was also reflected in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) elections,” she said.
“I have seen the strength of this relationship time and again,” the senior BJP leader said, adding that at the ministerial level, Indian leaders have visited 189 out of 193 countries.
Swaraj added that the country’s global profile has improved in the last five years.
My dream is to Make Modi Ji PM: Yeddyurappa
The BJP in Karnataka has won more than half of the state’s 28 Lok Sabha seats in the last three general elections. In 2014, the party won 17 and this time round, state party president and former chief minister, BS Yeddyurappa, said that the BJP will do even better.
Speaking to media in Bengaluru on Wednesday he said, “This time PM Modi will come back to power. We are going to win more than 275 seats. In Karnataka, minimum we are going to win 22 seats. We have already toured the entire state. The condition is very favourable for the BJP because of the Congress and JDS, and PM Modi’s achievement in the last 4 years and 9 months.”
While on the campaign trail in north Karnataka, Mr Yeddyurappa had said that if the BJP won more than 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, the party would also form the government in the state soon after. But he was more reticent on that issue this time. He said, “I don’t want to say anything on that now. Our first target is to win at least 22 Lok Sabha seats and we want to make Modi ji Prime Minister.”
Mr Yeddyurappa said the challenges faced by the ruling coalition partners in Karnataka – the Congress and the JDS – when it came to seat sharing, would only benefit the BJP. “They are fighting each other. That will be helpful to us.”
JDS leader and former prime minister Deve Gowda has made it clear that he would like two of his grandsons to contest – Nikhil, the actor son of chief minister, HD Kumaraswamy and Prajwal, the son of HD Revanna, a minister in the Karnataka cabinet. But Mr Yeddyurappa, who has political ambitions for his own sons, chose to be cautious in his reply to the question on the Gowda grandsons possibly being given tickets from Mandya and Hassan respectively. “I don’t have to react. We are going to put very strong candidates everywhere,” he said.
There has been speculation that the BJP would give the Mandya ticket to Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of the late Kannada superstar, Ambareesh, who had been a Congress politician. With the Congress giving the Mandya ticket to its coalition partner – the JDS, Sumalatha Ambareesh has indicated that she would still contest, as an Independent, if necessary. Mr Yeddyurappa told NDTV, “We have not yet decided; our national leaders will take a decision. On Friday I will go to Delhi and discuss. We don’t know whether she will contest or not.
But he did say that Tejaswini, the wife of late BJP leader, Ananth Kumar, would contest the South Bengaluru seat her husband had represented without a break from 1996 onwards. “Tejaswini is going to contest.” He also confirmed that Umesh Jadhav, till recently a Congress lawmaker, would also be given a BJP ticket. “100% he is going to contest.” Mr Jadhav is likely to contest in Kalaburagi in north Karnataka – the seat currently held by Congress veteran, Mallikarjun Kharge. When NDTV asked Yeddyurappa, his response to the allegations by the Congress that Mr Jadhav had sold himself to the BJP, Mr Yeddyurappa just laughed and said, “Nonsense!”

5th ODI: Captain Kohli blames poor bowling for loss
Nasheman News : India skipper Virat Kohli blamed poor death overs bowling for the 35-run loss to Australia in the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI), here on Wednesday.
The Australians rode a century from in-from opener Usman Khawaja and a half-century by Peter Handscomb to post 272/9 before dismissing the hosts for 237 runs to claim the match and the series.
“Yeah, we thought it was a gettable target. They got away from us a little bit at the end, and 15-20 more than we thought we were going to concede. One or two overs can make a whole lot of difference. But if you look at the overall series, Australia played with more passion, hunger and heart and they deserved to win,” Kohli said after the match.
“They were brave in pressure situations compared with us, especially in the last 3 games the way they handled the pressure, they really deserved to win,” he said.
Admitting that Australia were the better team in the five-match series, Kohli revealed the World Cup squad is more or less set.
“The guys will reflect on the series quite a bit. It’s been a long season, and we can be proud of the cricket we have played over the last few months. Both teams played with equal intensity, but the deserving side won in the end as I said before. We are more or less sorted with what we want to do,” he said.
“The guys just need to get their roles for the World Cup and expect them to stand up and deliver. Just one spot in the side needs some discussion. The last three games were all about giving the fringe guys some chances, but that’s not an excuse at all. You don’t need any motivation for the World Cup. All the sides will enjoy the tournament. Full stadiums. We just want to relive the big moments and do well in the World Cup.”
NCP releases first list of 12 candidates
Nasheman News : The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday released its first list of 12 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, including one of ally Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana and one from Lakshadweep Islands.
However, state party President Jayant Patil did not name the nominee for the Maval constituency, from where Pawar’s grand-nephew Parth Ajit Pawar is expected to contest.
Also, candidature for Madha constituency remain undecided. The constituency is witnessing a sharp tussle between the sitting MP Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil and his son Ranjitsinh, with the latter virtually threatening to walk over to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if denied a ticket.
The remaining two lists shall be announced over the next couple of days, since negotiations are still going on with the Congress for a few seats, he added.
