‘Match-fixing between PM, Pak’: Cong’s BK Hariprasad
Congress parliamentarian from Karnataka, BK Hariprasad has stirred a controversy with his “match-fixing” comments on the Pulwama attack while attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“(Union Minister) Ravi Shankar Prasad should clarify whether there is any match-fixing between Pakistan and Narendra Modi. Without their knowledge this Pulwama incident should not have taken place. If you look at the chain of events that has taken place after Pulwama, it looks like Narendra Modi had a match-fixing with the people of Pakistan,” Hariprasad said.
Hariprasad’s comment came two days after another Congress leader, Digvijaya Singh termed Pulwama attack as an “accident”.
“The government of Jammu and Kashmir has openly admitted that it’s a total failure of intelligence that has resulted in Pulwama. They can detect beef in… Kerala House but they can’t detect RDX on a sensitive National Highway. It shows it’s a total failure of Narendra Modi’s government,” said Hariprasad, while criticising the Modi government.
Karnataka BJP general secretary N Ravikumar said Hariprasad’s comments were “highly condemnable and irresponsible”.
“He should be ashamed of making such statements. Where had he mortgaged his brain before making such a statement?” Ravikumar said.
This is not the first time Hariprasad gave a controversial comment. Earlier, in January he mocked Amit Shah when the BJP president was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi for swine flu treatment. He said Shah got flu because he tried to destabilise the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka.

SC orders mediation to settle Ayodhya title dispute
Nasheman News : The Supreme Court on Friday ordered mediation to settle the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid Ayodhya title dispute case by a three-member panel.
The panel will be headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice F.M.I. Kalifulla with Art of Living founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and senior advocate Shriram Panchu as its members.
Ordering the mediation, the five-judge constitution bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice S.A. Bobde, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice S. Abdul Nazeer barred both the print and visual media from reporting on the mediation proceedings.
It also barred those participating in the proceedings from speaking to the media.
The mediation proceedings would be held at Faizabad and would commence in a week.
The order pronounced by Chief Justice Gogoi did not pass any specific guidelines, leaving it to the mediators to take a call, and said that mediators could take any legal assistance that may be necessary.
The court has ordered the mediation to use the time available before the regular hearing of the matter during which all the parties to the dispute have been asked to complete the paper work relating to the dispute.
Pakistan detains 121 people from terror outfits, takes control of 182 madrasas
Pakistan on Thursday claimed that it has taken control of 182 seminaries and detained more than 100 people in a crackdown on banned terrorist organisations.
“Law enforcement agencies have taken 121 people under preventive detention as of today,” the ministry said in a statement,” the interior ministry said in a statement.
The religious schools, hospitals and ambulances of the terror outfits were also placed under the control of the Pakistan government.
Islamabad’s move comes amid growing international pressure in the wake of a bombing in Pulwama by Jaish-e-Mohammed, a terrorist group based in Pakistan.
New Delhi on Tuesday expressed skepticism over reports that Pakistan was cracking down on terrorist outfits and that Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar’s brother Mufti Abdul Rauf was among 44 members of banned outfits who were taken into ‘preventive detention.’
A day after promulgating a law which apparently allowed the government to take over all assets of banned outfits operating in the country, the Pakistan government said, “It was decided to speed up action against all proscribed organisations, and in compliance, 44 under-observation members of proscribed organisations, including Mufti Abdul Rauf and Hammad Azhar, have been taken in preventive detention for investigation.”
Minister of State for the Interior Sheryar Khan Afridi was quoted as saying that the names of Mufti Abdul Rauf and Hammad Azhar were mentioned in a dossier shared by India last week.
However, describing Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s repeated claims that Pakistan would not allow terrorists to operate from its soil as “old wine in a new bottle,” Indian sources said, “These are words we have heard several times. We have exactly the same statement by President Pervez Musharraf in January 2004. Our effort now will be to see demonstrable action. Pakistan is trying to divert attention from our concern over terrorism to their concern over a so-called threat from India.”
A source further warned that “all options were on the table” in case of another terrorist attack.
“If there is a naya Pakistan with a naya soch, we expect to see action on the ground. There is still a discrepancy between what they are saying and doing. Mere statements from various sources saying that the Pakistan army has done its bit and that the civilian government has not is not enough,” the source added.
For instance, “there was the strange phenomenon yesterday of the Pakistan ambassador to the US, while talking at the Institute for Peace, claiming that there is no organized terror group in Pakistan. This is at variance with their own listings, starting with the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and going down, of terror groups in Pakistan.”
“While we are being told that hard action is being taken against the JuD and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation, all that has been done is that they are only on the watchlist. The objective of the Pakistan government is to pretend to the international community that it is taking steps,” the source said.
The source contended that “Pakistan is trying to deflect attention by issuing various statements suggesting that India still continues to threaten Pakistan militarily.”

Missing Indian-origin woman’s body found in suitcase in Australia
Nasheman News : A 32-year-old dentist of Indian origin in Australia, who went missing earlier this week, has been murdered and her body was found dumped in a suitcase in her abandoned car, the police said.
Preethi Reddy, 32, was reported missing by her family on Sunday after she did not come home from a dental convention in St. Leonards, a suburb of Sydney, CNN affiliate 7 News Australia reported.
According to the police, Reddy was murdered as her body bore several stab wounds. The man who was suspected of killing the woman was her Indian-origin ex-boyfriend and dentist Harsh Narde. Police officials said the man died in a car crash on the New England Highway on Monday night, a day after Reddy was reported missing.
They say that the head-on collision, which occurred around 340 km from where Reddy’s body was found, was a “deliberate act.” According to the police, they spoke to Narde as part of the missing persons investigation before his death.
“I cannot qualify exactly what has happened and I won’t put it out there because if we’re wrong and it’s not substantiated then we’re doing a disservice to Preethi and her family,” Detective Superintendent Gavin Dengate told ABC News.
“At this stage we know they met up in Sydney and now we’re looking at all the movements between these two,” the officer said.
Preethi was captured on CCTV inside McDonald’s at the Strand Arcade in central Sydney about 2.15 a.m. on Sunday and appeared to leave alone.
On Tuesday, the police located her car parked on a street in Kingsford, south of the city centre. A search of the vehicle located Reddy’s body in a suitcase. She had been stabbed “numerous times,” they said.
“Further inquiries have established that Preethi (Reddy) stayed at a hotel on Market Street, Sydney CBD, on Sunday with a man known to her,” the police said.
Reddy was attending a dental conference in St. Leonards and last spoke to her family at around 11 a.m. on Sunday, saying she planned to head home after having a late breakfast, according to the police.
Glenbrook Dental Surgery, where Reddy had worked and which had been appealing for information about her disappearance, said staff were “in mourning” after news of her death.
Numerous patients of Reddy posted messages of condolences for her family on the surgery’s Facebook page.

Congress getting high TRPs in Pakistani TVs: Jaitley
Nasheman News : Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday lashed out at the Congress and its President Rahul Gandhi for repeatedly raking up the Rafale fighter jet deal and said the questions raised on the issue were meant to divert public attention from the comments made by Congress leaders “against national security”.
“The Congress has in the last few days through statements of its senior leaders boxed itself into a corner in a very difficult situation. They are getting high TRPs in Pakistani TVs. But there is a revulsion as far as domestic opinion in India is concerned,” Jaitley said.
He was responding to query on Gandhi’s demand that an investigation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be carried out for conducting parallel negotiations and delaying the delivery of the Rafale fighter jets to India.
Jaitley said that the government had repeatedly made its position clear on the issue, the Supreme Court had spoken on it and the CAG had already analysed it.
“The petitioners are taking one more chance. No dynast can claim that he is above Supreme Court or CAG and that verdicts and findings don’t apply,” he said.
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh had demanded that India release evidences of air strike in Pakistan as the US did after killing Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) bombed Pakistan’s Balakot on February 26 in response to the February 14 terror attack in Kashmir which killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force troopers.
All four accused of beating up Kashmiris in Lucknow arrested
[Nasheman news] Lucknow All four accused of thrashing three Kashmiri dry fruit sellers here after calling them “stone-pelters” on Wednesday have been arrested, police said on Thursday.
Briefing the media about “the unfortunate incident”, Director General of Police (Law & Order) Anand Kumar and Additional Director General of Police (Lucknow) Rajeev Krishna, said they had arrested the accused, who were identified as Bajrang Sonkar, Amar, Himanshu and Anirrudh.
Sonkar, who was arrested earlier, is affiliated to the Vishwa Hindu Dal (VHD) and has a dozen criminal cases registered against him including one of murder, Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani said.
The attackers were initially booked under the Indian Penal Code, but non-bailable offences have also been included now, he added.
The officials also said that the victims have been assured of security to carry out their business and have been provided medical care and compensation for the losses they incurred.
The attack took place on Wednesday when a group of saffron-robed youths came out of a car and pounced on the Kashmiri men who were selling dry fruits on the Daliganj Bridge. The vendors were beaten up mercilessly, witnesses said, and their wares were thrown around.
The attackers called the victims “stone-pelters” and asked them to produce their Aadhaar cards. The Kashmiris obliged but the attackers continued to beat them.
No one came to the rescue of the victims. It was only after someone called the police that the Kashmiris were saved.
Two of the injured vendors went away before police arrived there but a third, identified as Afzal, was taken to the local police station. Afzal was questioned for over an hour before an acquaintance vouched for him.
No FIRs were registered against the attackers initially. It was only after a video of the incident went viral on the social media that police did so.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the brutality. “Nothing will do more damage to the idea of India in Jammu and Kashmir than videos like these,” he said in a series of tweets along with the video post.
“Keep thrashing Kashmiris like this on the streets at the hands of RSS/Bajrang Dal goons and then try to sell the idea of ‘atoot ang’ (unbreakable part), it simply won’t fly.”
He called upon Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is also the Lucknow MP, to punish “those guilty of this assault”.
4-year-old girl raped in Uttarakhand

Senior police officials who rushed to the hospital asked the doctors to provide immediate treatment to the child.
