[Nasheman news] Panaji There is nothing ethically wrong in facilitating a political split at 1:45 am, deputy speaker of the Goa legislative assembly Michael Lobo said on Wednesday.
Speaking reporters after accepting a letter, which sought merger of two out of three MGP legislators into the ruling BJP early on Wednesday morning, Lobo also said that being a Speaker of the state legislative assembly is a 24-hour job.
“See, the job of a Speaker is 24 hours. When an MLA wants to meet the Speaker, he has to be available. Both MLAs called me and wanted to meet me, in order to merge with the BJP. I had to meet them,” Lobo said, when asked if it was unethical to open the Speaker’s office during late hours to facilitate the merger.
As Deputy Speaker, who is the officiating Speaker of the state assembly, Lobo oversaw the merger. Pramod Sawant, who served as Speaker from 2017 till last week, quit the post to be sworn in as Chief Minister on March 19.
In late night drama, two MGP MLAs Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and Deepak Pauskar split the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and joined the BJP at 1:45 am in presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar.

Mayawati calls Congress, BJP ‘birds of same feather’
[Nasheman news] Lucknow Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Wednesday hit out at the ruling BJP and the Congress for their ‘garibi hatao’ promise calling it a bluff.
She accused both of the parties of being “birds of the same feather” who betray people, despite such eradicate poverty slogans which comes to nothing after the votes are over.
Mayawati said: “Ruling BJP calling Congress slogan of Garibi Hatao 2.0 a bluff, is true.
“But is poll bluff and reneging of poll promises the sole domain of the BJP?”
“In fact BJP and Congress party are both birds of the same feather. They betraying the interests of the poor, labourers, farmers and others,” Mayawati tweeted.
The Dalit leader’s remarks came after the ruling BJP described Congress’ minimum income scheme ‘NYAY’ announced by party chief Rahul Gandhi for elimination of poverty a “bluff”.
Gandhi had on Monday announced to give Rs 72,000 per annum to 25 crore poor families of the country.
The BSP, which had earlier announced no alliance with the Congress across the country is fighting the 2019 elections along with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
The BSP, which scored a nil in the 2014 elections is contesting on 38 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
The SP which won five seats is contesting on 37 and it’s other alliance partner, the RLD is contesting on three seats. The SP-BSP-RLD alliance has left two seats of Amethi and Rae Bareli for the Congress in the state.
The BJP-led NDA had won 73 seats from Uttar Pradesh in 2014. The seven phased Lok Sabha polls are scheduled from April 11 to May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
BJP & FM Jaitley misleading people on NYAY scheme : Cong
New Delhi, Mar 26 : Slamming the BJP and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for terming the Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG) scheme proposed by the Congress as a ‘bluff scheme ‘, the party on Tuesday charged the BJP of misleading people on the scheme.
Addressing a press conference here, AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala said that all the existing schemes would continue,
”The BJP and their ‘Blog Minister’ are resorting to a false propaganda. The Congress president had stated on Monday and I am repeating that no existing scheme would be scrapped nor would any subsidy be removed.
This scheme is not a replacement of MGNREGA or any other scheme,”he said.
Giving details of the scheme, announced by Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday, Mr Surjewala said, ”
It is a women-centric scheme. The money will be transferred to the accounts of homemakers.”
Clarifying that it was not a top-up scheme, Mr Surjewala said, ”20 per cent poor families will receive Rs 72,000 every year. This scheme will be implemented for both urban and rural poor. Congress governments reduced India’s poverty from 70 per cent during independence to 22 per cent . We will work for removing the 22 per cent remaining poverty in India.?
”This is the world’s biggest scheme for eradicating poverty,” Mr Surjewala said.
Slamming the BJP and Finance Minister Arun jaitley for describing the scheme as a ‘bluff announcement’, Mr Surjewala described the Narendra Modi governemt as ‘anti-poor’,
”Hypocrite Modi can forgive Rs 3,50,000 crore of handful of businessmen but giving Rs 72,000 for India’s poor is troublesome for him. Why is BJP opposing this scheme? When Mr Modi can spend Rs 5,000 Cr for his publicity and advertisements, why is he opposing Rs 72,000 for a poor family? It is very clear that being anti-poor is in the DNA of Modi and BJP,”he said.
Pointing out that Mr Narendra Modi opposed MNREGA, a scheme that eradicated poverty, Mr Surjewala said, ?In his very first speech in Parliament after becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi opposed MNREGA, a scheme that eradicated poverty. NSSO data reveals that since Modi became PM, 4 crore jobs are lost in the country. Mr Modi’s GST destroyed small businesses in the country. Modi government is anti-poor.?

AVIATION-JET AIRWAYS-PILOTS BODY
Jet Airways’ pilots body urges SBI to clear salaries, dues at earliest
Assuring its commitment towards the Jet Airways in taking the airline to the road of recovery, its pilots body National Aviators Guild on Tuesday petitioned State Bank of India chairman Rajnish Kumar to release their pending salaries at the earliest.
?It is our humble request to you to alleviate some of the hardships that we and the AMEs have been facing by ensuring that the Jet Airways management does not further delay the release of our pending salaries and clears our dues at the earliest,? body general Secretary Capt Tej Sood said in a letter to the SBI chairman.
SBI is the main lendor among 26 banks that have given loans to the saddled airline Jet Airways.
On Monday, Jet Airways founder and chairman Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita Goyal had tendered their resignations as directors from the Board. According to the new resolution plans, Rs 1500 crore would be infused in the airline to normalize its operations.
With the new loan of Rs 1500 crore, the total loan amount of the Jet Airways is more than Rs 9,700 crore. Under the resolution plan, the banks would convert the total debt into equity worth 50.1 per cent at a price of Re 1.
The pilots body also sought time to meet the SBI chairman to discuss the resolution plan.
?We would also be grateful if you could spare us some time from your busy schedule to meet our Representatives to give us an idea of the roadmap to recovery. This will help us in rebuilding confidence amongst our pilots and reassuring them that the uncertainty is behind us,? the letter said.
The NAG, however, assured the bank chairman of its continued support. It said pilots remain committed to the airline and would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the carrier returns to its former glory.
Press Statement of State BJP General Secretary C .T. Ravi
Press Statement of State BJP General Secretary C .T. Ravi Apathy of State Govt towards Malenadu and Coastal districts
In Kalasa town of Madikere Taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, the Police today confiscated explosives from Azeez and his brother mechanic Afsa Ali who are local residents and arrested the duo. The explosives found in their house include 40 explosive items, 40 gelatin sticks, 2 petrol bombs and such other materials.
It is of serious concern that the Malenadu, Coastal districts and its surrounding areas are infested by terror outfits who are active here. Further, the police finding such explosives is disturbing specially during the General Election time.
The deterioration of law and order in the coastal districts is glaring and people in the region are facing hardships due to such anti-social elements.
It is the duty of the state government to ensure peace in the region . Unfortunately, anti-social elements and terror outfits are disrupting peace in society, besides, storing explosives. More disturbing is the state government’s indifference to the development. Precautionary measures by the government could have prevented the incident.
It may be recalled that a terrorist training camp of Yaseem Bhatkal was located by the police in the region. Furtner, Coastal districts are our boundary and it is now under threat by terror groups who are using it to route arms and other explosives.
The State BJP demands that the state government order an investigation into this incident, instead of, using these groups as vote- banks. The arrested mechanic will have information about those behind the terror activity, Shri Ravi pointed out.
I am shocked : Tejaswini Ananth Kumar
Supporters of Tejaswini Ananth Kumar shouted slogans against Tejasvi on Tuesday when he went to meet her ahead of filing his nomination.
In the wee hours of Tuesday, the BJP announced that a young lawyer from Bengaluru – 28-year-old Tejasvi Surya would contest from the Bengaluru South constituency.
BJP leaders in Karnataka including the party President BS Yeddyurappa had recommended that Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, wife of late Union Minister Ananth Kumar, be nominated from Bengaluru South.
Ananth Kumar has represented the Bengaluru South segment since 1996 and after his demise in November last year, the party’s state leaders wanted his wife Tejaswini to contest elections. But the leadership in Delhi decided otherwise.
BJP party workers, who had been campaigning in the constituency on Tejaswini’s behalf staged a dharna outside her house in VV Puram, when news of Tejasvi’s nomination came in.
Speaking to the media, Tejaswini said that the decision had shocked her. “It is shocking to me and the BJP workers. Let us not ask any more questions. If we have to contribute to this country, we have to work together for Modi,” she said.
BJP party workers, who supported Tejaswini Ananth Kumar also shouted slogans against Tejasvi when he went to her VV Puram residence on Tuesday morning to take her blessings ahead of filing his nomination.
Sources in the BJP say that the BJP cadre are divided over the party’s decision to offer Tejasvi Surya a ticket. “Some of the party workers have been working for Tejaswini and had worked for Ananth Kumar when he was alive. They believe that she was the deserving candidate,” the source said.
Nephew of BJP MLA from Basavanagudi – Ravi Subramanya, Tejasvi Surya is a lawyer practising in the Karnataka High Court. As student of Bengaluru’s National College, Tejasvi became a member of the ABVP . He later became a member of the party’s Yuva Morcha during his days as a student in Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies and is currently serving as the general secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha.
Meanwhile, Tejasvi, who filed his nomination at the Jayanagar BBMP office on Tuesday said that he was given a ticket only because Ananth Kumar had allowed him to grow in the party. Speaking to the media, Tejasvi said, “Ananth Kumarji ensured that I grew in the party. He has been my mentor since I was in high school. I had pestered him to allow me to work for a rally for LK Advani when I was in college. He gave me a lot of chances to grow in the party. He taught me everything about party organisation. Tejaswini Ananth Kumar is like a mother figure to me and she is happy about my nomination,” he said.
