Defence Minister visits Udupi Sri Krishna Math

Udupi, Karnataka, Mar 26 :Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Sri Krishna math here and had a darshan of the deity on Tuesday.
She was here to accompany BJP candidate Shobha Kharandlje who filed her nomination for Udupi- Chikkamangalur Lok Sabha seat.
Ms Sitharaman met Pejawar seer Vishvesha Thirtha swamiji and had his blessings.
Later she visited the houses of ‘Suvarna Thribuja’ boat owner Chandrashekar Kotian and fisherman Damodar, who went missing along with the boat and consoled the family members. She also met Chandrashekar’s wife Shyamala and Damodar’s wife Mohini.
The fishing boat ‘Suvarna Tribhuja’, which had left for deep sea fishing from Malpe on December 13, went missing on December 15 midnight and has remained untraceable till today.

Recently, while talking to the media he slammed Sandalwood actors Darshan and Yash, who are supporting Sumalatha in the campaign. He went on to call the two actors thieves, who are looting farmers. He even took a dig at Darshan for being called D Boss!

Taunting this statement of the actor’s, CM said, “This pair of bullock is not meant for ploughing the field but to raid farmers’ crops. What do they know about the difficulties of farming?” Darshan Can’t Enter Mandya Kumaraswamy further added, “There is a video circulating on WhatsApp about his comments about people of Mandya. It is below my dignity to talk about the words mentioned in the clip. If the people listen to it, they will not let him enter Mandya.” Takes A Dig At D Boss He went on to take a dig at Darshan for the title given by the fans. He said, ” What is that? Challenging Star? Viacom18 Motion Pictures will distribute a children’s film titled ‘Dora And The Lost City Of Gold’ In India on 2nd Aug, 2019.

 The scripted scenario of the children’s film Dora And The Lost City Of Gold reveals that Dora having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, but nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever namely high school.

 Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeff Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez) & a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria & Michael Peña) & solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Last day of filing nomination for LS Phase I in Karnataka, aspirants rush to file papers
Bengaluru, Mar 26 : Official candidates of major political parties and independents rushed to file their nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka which will be held on April 18.
BJP’s G S Basavaraju, preparing himself for big battle and a fifth term is pitted against former Prime Minister and JD(S) Supremo H D Devegowda, filed his nomination for Tumakuru LS Seat. Besides he has task to take on sitting MP Muddu Hanumegowda of Congress, who is contesting as Congress rebel candidate as the seat was given to JD(S) as per Coalition understanding.
Sitting Lok Sabha member D K Suresh, brother of Karnataka Minister D K Shivakumar, filed his nomination to retain his Bengaluru Rural Seat. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and other Congress and JD(S) leaders were present lending support as a procession was taken out before filing his nomination.
Ms Shobha Kharandlje, BJP State General Secretary, filed her nomination to retain Udupi-Chikkamagalur Lok Sabha seat in temple town of Udupi. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other BJP leaders were present during procession taken out by workers before filing her nomination.
Former AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad filed his nomination for Bengaluru South. BJP’s last minute selection of staunch RSS follower Tejswi Surya, who filed his nomination from BJP after seeking blessings of Tejaswini, wife of Union Minister late H N Ananthkumar who died recently because of cancer and represented the segment for a record six times. ?We had recommended name of Ms Tejaswini for the seat but Central Selection Committee has selected Tejaswi. I don’t know the reason. But cadre-based party BJP will fully support Tejaswi,? BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa told newsmen.
Congress has selected Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Krishna Byregowda to contest against two-time sitting BJP Lok Sabha member P C Mohan who has filed his nomination yesterday to retain his Bengaluru North seat. Huge processions were taken out by the candidates before filing their nominations.
While today is the last date for filing Nomination, scrutiny will be taken up tomorrow and March 29. Last date for withdrawal and in the first phase for 14 LS seats is March 29.

CCB Sleuths nab a 49 year-old drug peddler, native of Orissa and seize 15 kg Ganja worth about Rs 7 lakhs from him

Bengaluru, Mar 26 : CCB sleuths have nabbed a 49 year-old drug peddler and seized from him 15 kg Ganja worth about Rs 7 lakhs from him.
Police said on Tuesday that the arrested Ezra Mali was native of Ramagiri Village, Udayagiri Taluk, Gajapathi District, Orissa and he has settled in the city since last 30 years and indulged in drug peddling after procuring the banned drug from his home State and selling them to College students and Software Engineers.
Kadagodi Police have registered a case and investigating.

Skipper Ashwin should have maintained decorum: BCCI

New Delhi, March 26 (Nasheman News) Kings XI Punjab skipper R. Ashwin might have called his decision to ‘Mankad’ Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler in Jaipur on Monday as instinctive but the Royals weren’t impressed, with skipper Ajinkya Rahane, head coach Paddy Upton and brand ambassador Shane Warne making their displeasure known.

With the matter snowballing, even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that the captain should have maintained decorum and that even the match officials failed in their duty.

Speaking to IANS, a senior BCCI official said that only cricketing skills should be used on the pitch to dismiss batsmen and that gives out the correct message to those watching and learning.

“The match officials have failed in their duty with the handling of this issue. Buttler ought to have been adjudged not out if the laws were applied squarely to the situation. Ashwin also must understand that laws and the spirit of the game both have to be kept in mind. 

“A player is supposed to deceive the other with his cricketing skills and not with shady skills. If the batsman is taking advantage, deal with it in the right way – as a gentleman. Competitiveness is all very well but a standard of decorum ought to be maintained,” the official said.

Another official said that these things impact the popularity of the individual and criticism is bound to follow. 

“This mode of dismissal is akin to back-stabbing. That is why it will always be criticized. It gets you the result, but you surely won’t win a popularity contest this way,” he said.

But the official added that two wrongs don’t make one right and Buttler should have left what happened on the field and shaken hands with Ashwin after the game.

“Buttler not shaking hands with Ashwin after the game was also against the spirit of the game. Both these things are inexcusable where the spirit of the game is concerned,” the official said.

While skipper Rahane had said that he was hoping that the match referee would take note of what happened on the field, Warne was livid and made his disappointment known over social media.

“So disappointed in @ashwinravi99 as a captain and as a person. All captains sign the #IPL wall and agree to play in the spirit of the game. RA had no intention of delivering the ball – so it should have been called a dead ball. Over to you BCCI – this a not a good look for the #IPL,” he wrote.

He then pointed at how as captain it was Ashwin’s duty to set the standards for the rest of the team to follow. He also added how Ashwin will be remembered for this “low” act.

“As captain of your side – you set the standard of the way the team wants to play and what the team stands for! Why do such a disgraceful and low act like that tonight? You must live with yourself and FYI – it’s too late to say sorry Ashwin. You will be remembered for that low act,” he wrote.

He ended by asking if people would have approved it if Ben Stokes had done the same thing to Virat Kohli. 


Jaya Prada joins BJP

New Delhi, Mar 26 : Actor-turned-politician and close associate of former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Jaya Prada joined the BJP on Tuesday.

Welcoming her at the party headquarters here, BJP general secretary Bhupender Yadav said Ms Prada has vast political experience.

It was an important moment of her life, Ms Prada said.

”Whether films or politics, anything I chose, I have accepted it wholeheartedly and tried to dedicate my life to the same,” she said, adding that for the first time she has joined a national party.

Impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi working with all strata of the society, Ms Prada has decided to join the party, Mr Yadav said.
Jaya Prada is tipped to contest from Rampur seat, where she had won in the past.
If Jaya Prada decides to contest, she will be pitted against Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan. Jaya Prada and Azam Khan had a public fallout when both were part of the Samajwadi Party in 2009.
In her long political career, Jaya Prada has been part of several political outfits. She started her political stint with TDP, but later left the party after dispute with Chandrababu Naidu.
She later joined SP and became MP from Rampur in 2004 and 2009. However, she was expelled from SP in 2010.
Alongside, Amar Singh she later floated Rashtriya Lok Manch next year, but the party failed to gain any traction in Uttar Pradesh. In 2014, Jaya Prada contested Lok Sabha election unsuccessfully from Bijnor.

“Modi ate dhokla and slept during Pulwama attack” : Owaisi

: As controversy erupted over AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi suggesting that PM Modi ate beef biryani and slept when the Pulwama attack happened, he tweaked his statement on Monday night and changed beef to dhokla and said he is not aware of Modi’s food habits.

Owaisi again attacked the Modi government for its intelligence failure on preventing the Pulwama terror attack.

He said that he is not aware of PM Modi’s food habits, maybe he had slept off after eating dhokla when terrorists attacked the CRPF convoy in Pulwama and killed 40 CRPF jawans.

Earlier on Saturday, according to media, Owaisi had said, “You can see that 300 cell phones were there in Balakot, but you failed to see how 50 kg RDX was moved to Pulwama under your nose.”

Pollachi sexual abuse case: CID summons son of DMK functionary

The Crime Branch-CID of the Tamil Nadu Police has summoned Thendral Manimaran, 27, son of DMK district secretary (Coimbatore rural) Thendral Selvaraj, to ask him about his proximity with Thirunavvukkarasu, the prime suspect in the Pollachi sexual abuse case.

Thirunavakkarasu had Manimaran’s name during the inquiry. Manimaran was asked to appear before the investigation officer in Coimbatore on March 28.

The CB-CID also summoned A Nagaraj alias Muthusamy, 28, of Pollachi in connection with the case who was the AIADMK functionary and was expelled from the party after he was called for the inquiry.

Both of them were called for questioning based on the statement of the prime accused.

In February this year, four men were arrested for allegedly blackmailing, sexually harassing and filming a 19-year-old college student in Pollachi.

The case snowballed into a major scandal after local media reported that not just one but a few hundred women were victims of an organised racket of sexual abuse, blackmail and extortion

The four men, Thirunavakkarasu, Sathish, Sabariraj and Vasanthkumar, were arrested.

Police officials said the four men sexually harassed dozens of women — over 50 of them — for over two years across Tamil Nadu. Among them were teachers and students from schools and colleges.

The officials described a chilling pattern. The men, they said, found victims on Facebook and forced them to meet in person after befriending them. They then harassed them in moving vehicles, hotels or farmhouses.

Most of the victims refused to make formal complaints, the police officials said. The police say they have retrieved videos from the gang that show sexual harassment or assault.
