`Pakistan doing war mongering, India firm on fighting terrorism’
Nasheman News : Pakistan is creating war psychosis to divert attention from India’s concerns on cross-border terrorism, informed sources said here on Tuesday and noted that India is focussed to fighting terrorism.
India is leaving no stone unturned in its effort to highlight how it has been a victim of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and unwillingness of the neighbour to take any credible action against terror outfits operating from its soil, they said.
The government has shared excerpts of the dossier it gave to Pakistan over Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)’s involvement in Pulwama terror attack with a large number of countries in the world.
The sources said that Pakistan’s rejection of India’s dossier is on expected lines and wondered what “actionable evidence” it wants. Pakistan-based JeM has claimed responsibility for the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
They said Islamabad has to show demonstrable action against terrorism in the coming days, and that Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s remarks that soil of Pakistan will not be used by terrorist groups against any state including India is old wine in new bottle.
If there is talk of “Naya Pakistan”, it should be reflected in action on ground, they said, noting that Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), led by Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, and its wing Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation have not been banned but merely placed on the list of groups under watch.
Pakistan, they said, is only trying to show they are doing something but is actually trying to cleverly deflect attention, trying to keep is population deluded that India may do something and is keeping them in heightened sense of expectation so that they do not ask what Pakistan has done.
Pakistan Navy’s claims that it used specialised skills to stop the Indian submarine from entering Pakistani waters have already been rejected and their released video has been found to be more than two years’ old.
India has been conveying to other countries that terrorism can be dealt with actual action on ground.
If Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camp had not been hit at Balakot in Indian air strikes, as claimed by Pakistan, the media would have been taken there over the past few days, the sources said, adding that the Pakistani media needs to question their government over its lies.

Indian-origin man gets 33-month jail in US for over $2m fraud
Nasheman News, Washington : An Indian-origin man in the US has been sentenced to 33 months in prison and ordered to pay $2,618,000 in restitution for being convicted of mail fraud and embezzlement, authorities said.
Dinesh Shankar, 41, San Jose, California, was sentenced last week for embezzling from a medical device company, US Attorney David L. Anderson and Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent in charge John F. Bennett said.
In addition to the prison sentence and restitution, Shankar was also ordered to serve a three-year term of supervised release. He will begin serving the sentence on May 1, the Justice Department said.
According to the plea agreement, from March 2013 until January 2018 Shankar was an employee of an Emeryville-based medical device company. Beginning July 2013 until December 2017, he submitted false expense reports and invoices to the finance department, making the company pay more than half a million dollars.
In addition, Shankar admitted creating false invoices that appeared to be issued by six different entities. The entities were actually fictitious business names for entities that he controlled.
Shankar prepared the false invoices to make it appear the entities had provided testing and quality assurance services to his employer when, in fact, they had not provided the services. Shankar, according to the statement, admitted he caused $2,576,384 loss to the company.
A federal grand jury indicted Shankar in April 2018, charging him with six counts of mail fraud. He pleaded guilty to one count in November and the remaining were dismissed

Images show madrasa buildings standing after Indian attack claim
Satellite images show a religious school run by Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) in northeastern Pakistan still appears to be standing days after Indiaclaimed warplanes destroyed it and killed a large number of fighters.
The images produced by Planet Labs Inc, a San Francisco-based private satellite operator, show at least six buildings on the school’s site on March 4 – six days after the air raids. Until now, no high-resolution satellite images were publicly available.
The images are virtually unchanged from an April 2018 satellite photo of the facility. There are no discernible holes in the roofs of buildings, no signs of scorching, blown-out walls, displaced trees around the school or other signs of an aerial attack.
The images cast further doubt on statements made over the last eight days by the Indian government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the February 26 raids had hit all the intended targets at the school site in northern Pakistan’s Balakot region.
India’s foreign and defence ministries did not reply to questions about the satellite images emailed by Reuters news agency.M
Jeffrey Lewis, director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Project at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, confirmed the photographs showed the structures in question still standing.
“The high-resolution images don’t show any evidence of bomb damage,” he said.
Government sources said last week 12 Mirage 2000 jets carrying 1,000kg bombs carried out the attack.
Lewis and Dave Schmerler, a senior research associate at the James Martin Center for nonproliferation studies who also analyses satellite images, said weapons that large would have caused obvious damage to the structures visible in the picture.
“If the strike had been successful – given the information we have about what kind of munitions were used – I would expect to see signs that the buildings had been damaged,” said Lewis. “I just don’t see that here.”
Pakistan has disputed India’s account, saying the operation was a failure that saw Indian jets, under pressure from Pakistani planes, drop their bombs on a largely empty hillside.
“There has been no damage to any infrastructure or human life as a result of Indian incursion,” Major-General Asif Ghafoor said. “This has been vindicated by both domestic and international media after visiting the site.”
Political fire
India must hold a general election by May and pollsters say Modi and his Hindu nationalist party stand to benefit from his aggressive response to a suicide bomb attack that killed 40 Indian paramilitary police in the disputed Kashmir region on February 14.
Indian officials said hundreds of “terrorists” were killed in the air raids.
But the Indian government has failed to produce evidence that the camp was destroyed and fighters killed. That prompted some opposition politicians to push for more details.
Modi has accused the opposition Congress party and other opponents of helping India’s enemies by demanding evidence of the attacks.
After the Indian air force incursion, a dogfight resulted in the capture of a downed Indian pilot, who was released on March 1 as part of a “peace gesture” by Pakistan.

US’ GSP withdrawal won’t hurt India as benefits are minimal, says official
Nasheman News : Downplaying the likely effects of the US withdrawal of benefits for Indian exports under the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) programme, Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan has said the decision will not have any major impact on overall Indian exports to the US as the concessions availed under the scheme were “minimal”.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Wadhawan said: “Total GSP benefits availed by India under the GSP programme were to the tune of $190 million on a trade $5.6 billion. So, the benefits both in an absolute sense, and as a percentage of the trade involved, are very minimal and moderate.”
US President Donald Trump on Monday announced that he was ending India’s trade concessions under the GSP programme accusing New Delhi of not providing Washington “equitable and reasonable access” to its markets.
Trump, who is on a mission to expand market access abroad and end US trade deficits, made the announcement in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Mike Pence in his capacity as the Senate President.
The US Trade Representative’s Office (USTR) said that the preferences will end in 60 days after the notification to the Congress and the Indian government.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) sources said the government will continue to talk to the US during the 60-day period. They said that efforts were being made to find a reasonable package and said the problem was not systemic.
Noting that there were a number of areas where India was willing to show flexibility, they said that it did not meet the US requirement.
There were genuine cultural concerns such as in case of dairy products, they said, adding that it was second year when US imports have grown.
The Commerce Secretary also said the US went ahead with the withdrawal of benefits despite the Indian government working out on an “extensive, reasonable, meaningful package which covered almost all the US concerns”.
“Of course there were some additional requests beyond that, which could not be accepted at this time,” he said.

IAF strike: V.K. Singh equates militants with mosquitoes
Nasheman News : Amid the conflicting claims on the number of terrorists killed in the Balakot airstrike, former Army chief Gen V.K. Singh on Wednesday drew parallels between terrorists and mosquitoes while responding to the opposition’s continuous hammering on the issue.
In a tweet in Hindi, he said at 3.30 a.m., there were too many mosquitoes, so he used a repellent spray to kill them.
“Now should I count how many mosquitoes were killed or sleep peacefully,” the Minister of State for External Affairs said.
The opposition, including former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Congress leaders Kapil Sibal, Manish Tewari, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, have raised questions over the government’s claim about the death toll in Pakistan in the February 26 air strike.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) jets had hit the biggest training camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Pakistan within a fortnight after 40 Central Reserve Police Force troopers were killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah claimed that over 250 terrorists were killed in the air strike.
IAF chief Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa on Monday said his force does not count human casualties but the IAF had hit its target.
The analogy of Singh came a day after he attacked the opposition for demanding the casualty figures saying it was not “a game of marbles” where exact scores can be kept.
On Tuesday, he defended Shah’s claim that more than 250 terrorists were killed in the IAF action that came 12 days after the Pulwama attack, saying that Shah meant that “these many might have been killed” in the air strike.
