Delhi Police beefs up security amid AAP call to 'gherao' PM residence against Kejriwal's arrest

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has strengthened security at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence after the AAP called for a “gherao” to protest against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, an officer said on Tuesday.

The police have also beefed up security in several other parts of the national capital.

A Delhi Traffic Police officer said movement is likely to be affected in parts of New Delhi and Central Delhi due to the protest.

“Robust security arrangements have been made. We have installed layers of security to maintain law and order in the area,” the Delhi Police officer said.

“Section 144 (of the CrPC) is already imposed around the prime minister’s residence and no one will be allowed to protest,” he added.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai had earlier announced plans to “gherao” the prime minister’s residence on Tuesday to protest against Kejriwal’s arrest.

Rai had also said that “mega protests” would be held nationwide.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy on March 21. He is in the agency’s custody till Thursday.

The AAP national convenor is accused of soliciting kickbacks from liquor traders in exchange for favours, the central agency has claimed.

The ED has also accused Kejriwal of being the “kingpin and key conspirator” in the now-scrapped policy, in collusion with AAP leaders, ministers and other persons.

Kejriwal has refuted the allegations and accused the BJP-led Centre of “manipulating investigative agencies for political motives”.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police has arranged seven diversion points for the smooth movement of vehicles in view of the protest.

“Commuters must avoid Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road and Teen Murti Marg on Tuesday in view of the protest,” an officer said.

Kohli, Karthik guide RCB to 4-wkt win against Punjab Kings
Bengaluru: Harpreet Brar’s incisive bowling came to naught as Virat Kohli’s splendid half-century and Dinesh Karthik’s power-hitting at the back end helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeat Punjab Kings by four wickets in an Indian Premier League match here on Monday.

Chasing 177 for victory, RCB, thanks to Kohli’s 77 (49 balls) and Karthik’s unbeaten 28 (10 balls), won the match with four balls to spare.

PBKS’ left-arm spinner Brar (2/13) dismissed dangerous middle-order batters Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxewll cheaply as RCB, chasing 177 for victory, were in big trouble. He also took a wonderful catch to dismiss Kohli to put RCB in trouble.

But Karthik and Mahipal Lomror (17 not out) bailed out the home side.

Brief scores:

Punjab Kings 176 for 6 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 45, Prabhsimran Singh 25, Sam Curran 23, Jitesh Sharma 27; Glenn Maxwell 2/29, Md Siraj 2/26).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru 178 for 6 in 19.2 overs (Virat Kohli 77, Mahipal Lomror 17 not out, Dinesh Karthik 28 not out; Kagiso Rabada 2/23, Harpreet Brar 2/13).

Cong replaces candidate in Jaipur LS seat, fields Pratap Singh Khachariyawas

March 25, 2024 by Nasheman

New Delhi/Jaipur: The Congress on Sunday replaced its candidate for the Jaipur Lok Sabha seat, fielding former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas after a section of party leaders objected to Sunil Sharma’s nomination.

Sharma’s candidate sparked controversy over his alleged association with the ‘Jaipur Dialogue’, which is critical of the Congress on social media. Sharma, however, asserted that he has had no association with the organisation and has been invited by it occasionally to present the Congress’ view.

Sources said local opposition led to the change.

Congress general secretary K C Venugopal stated that the party has fielded Murari Lal Meena as its candidate in the Dausa Lok Sabha constituency of Rajasthan. It also fielded Pratibha Suresh Dhanorkar from the Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra.

Dedication and Betrayal:The Struggles of Mr.Binish Thomas in Advocating for Journalism and Confronting China
A man who worked for his own country, solely due to his dedication towards the motherland, found himself haunted, tortured, and his life damaged in a miserable way.
The sad reality is that he worked for the betterment of the journalist community, yet the same people ditched him for their own personal monetary benefit.
Here we are discussing one man,Mr.Binish Thomas, Director for the INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR JOURNALISTS (ICJ).
He worked with many African countries, publishing numerous articles about China’s debt diplomacy and how China turned African countries into their modern colonies.
The reason China invests and provides funds to African countries and the consequences thereof were elaborated in his work.
He conducted many seminars and meetings with African rulers to create awareness about China’s trap.
He predicted the Sri Lankan economic disaster when China started investing in their projects. Now,we all witness the situation in Sri Lanka, and because of his awareness campaign, many African countries are rethinking China’s investment plans on their land.
Through his articles,he explained how China attacked our motherland directly and indirectly, exposing many fake people who supported China for their own business/personal benefit.
Due to his articles against China,he faced unbelievable problems in his life, enduring multiple fake cases and allegations against him.
Despite having no connections,he believes some officials are working as China agents, receiving monetary benefits to fabricate cases against him.
Many credible sources warned him against traveling to Singapore,Malaysia, and other countries closely aligned with China, fearing life-threatening situations upon entry.
Consequently, the Chinese lobby targeted him entirely, and he lives with the constant expectation of unusual occurrences in his life.”
When Hamas attacked Israel,he published an article about the reasons and aims of the Hamas attack. One of the main reasons is to stop “THE NEW ECONOMIC CORRIDOR” (IMEC),announced by the Israeli President at the G20 summit in India.
These projects are against China’s Belt and Road Initiative. After many days,American President Joe Biden quoted the content of Binish Thomas’ articles in a press meeting.
The American President also mentioned that this would be one of the reasons for the Hamas attack.Following these articles, he faced unbelievable torture from different authorities without any reason.
He met many officials in India, including the Governor and state authorities,to implement the Journalist Protection Bill.
Under his leadership,ICJ supported many journalists in India, ensuring that ICJ would be there whenever they needed support.
He is planning to implement legal help for journalists facing professional issues and set up healthcare support for needy journalists.
Sadly, a few Indian media outlets are still against him, with some reports attempting to defame him in front of society.
However, when our correspondent spoke to Mr.Binish Thomas,he continues to fight against China.
