UP man’s ‘Heli Car’ seized by cops, fined for unauthorized modification of vehicle

March 21, 2024 by Nasheman

Lucknow: A local resident in Ambedkar Nagar had ambitious plans to soar to new heights in mechanics by transforming his car into what resembled a helicopter. However, his dreams were grounded by the intervention of local police, who not only confiscated the modified ‘Helicar’ but also imposed a fine on the owner.

UP Man's Car Turned 'Chopper' Seized, Understand What is Section 207 Of Motor Vehicle Act? - News18

Ishwar Deen, a resident of Khajuri Bazar, took the initiative to weld a helicopter rotor onto the roof of his old car, giving it the appearance of a chopper. Additionally, he attached the tail rotor of a helicopter to the car’s boot. Deen had invested Rs 2.5 lakh in the project and was prepared to paint the modified vehicle when he was halted by a traffic policeman.

The traffic officer issued Deen a fine for unauthorized modifications and confiscated the car, dubbed the “car copter,” and “Helicar’ until the fine was paid. Deen had envisioned using the unique vehicle as a mode of transport during special occasions like weddings to earn additional income for his family.

While Deen emphasized that the vehicle was intended for occasional use during weddings rather than regular transportation, the police cited safety concerns as the primary reason for confiscation. They confirmed that the vehicle had been modified without proper authorization under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Vishal Pandey explained, “Following the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, the police have been conducting regular vehicle checks. This vehicle was intercepted during one such inspection, and we are further investigating the matter.”

A video of Deen’s creation parked outside a police station in Ambedkar Nagar has since gone viral on social media, garnering attention for its unconventional appearance and the subsequent police intervention.

BJP MLA distances himself from Tejasvi Surya’s stance on Hanuman Chalisa row

Bengaluru: On Wednesday, BJP MLA Uday Garudachar addressed the recent incident involving an attack on a shop owner in Nagarathpete, clarifying that it was not related to the playing of Hanuman Chalisa or azan. Garudachar emphasized that the issue had been blown out of proportion as the elections approached.

Garudachar stated, “It’s untrue that the telecom shop owner in Nagarathpet was attacked for playing Hanuman Chalisa. I have reliable information as it falls within my constituency. There was no need to exaggerate the issue.” He stressed that it was unfortunate that the incident had been politicized during the election season.

Asserting his commitment to secularism and communal harmony, Garudachar affirmed, “I will never attribute the attack to individuals of another faith. I believe in the coexistence of all communities in peace.” He mentioned that he had communicated this stance to Tejasvi Surya when the latter reached out to him earlier in the day. Garudachar advised Surya to allow the authorities to handle the situation within the framework of the law.

The Congress party took to social media platform X to highlight Garudachar’s statement and condemn Tejasvi Surya’s involvement in the incident. The party accused Surya of attempting to fuel communal tensions for electoral gain and criticized his lack of substantial achievements. Referring to Surya as a ‘foolish baby,’ the tweet denounced his actions as mere theatrics to sway voters.

Earlier, BJP MP P C Mohan, along with Tejasvi Surya, Shobha Karandlaje, and MLA Suresh Kumar, along with supporters of the sangh parivar, staged a protest in Nagarathapete, alleging an attack on Mukesh for playing Hanuman Chalisa in his mobile shop. The demonstration included slogans such as ‘Jai Sri Ram, Jai Hanuman,’ and criticized what they perceived as the government’s anti-Hindu stance. However, the situation escalated, leading to the arrest of several leaders and protesters by the police, including Tejasvi Surya, Shobha Karandlaje, and Suresh Kumar, who were later released.

Muslims have been systematically invisibilized in India: Rajdeep Sardesai’s speech goes viral

March 21, 2024 by Nasheman

New Delhi: Renowned journalist Rajdeep Sardesai delivered a thought-provoking speech at the 21st edition of the India Today Conclave 2024 in New Delhi, addressing critical issues surrounding representation and inclusivity in Indian politics. Sardesai’s remarks centered on the concerning lack of Muslim representation in the country’s parliament and the implications of this trend for India’s diverse population.

During his address, Sardesai highlighted the slogan “Ab ki baar 400 paar, 350 paar,” which has become synonymous with the aspirations of BJP to secure a significant majority in parliament. However, he pointed out that despite these ambitions, the current government lacks a single Muslim Member of Parliament (MP). Moreover, Sardesai expressed concern that the projected outcome of 350 or 400 MPs from the ruling party might also exclude representation from the Muslim community, which constitutes approximately 13% of India’s population.

Drawing attention to the marginalization of Muslims in various spheres of society, Sardesai spoke candidly about the systematic invisibilization of the Muslim community. He cited examples from his own affluent neighborhood, where he observed a decline in the number of Muslim residents. Sardesai attributed this phenomenon to deep-rooted prejudices and stereotypes that have permeated Indian society, perpetuating a culture of exclusion and marginalization.

He said, “Just think about it. We are talking about ‘Ab ki baar 400 paar, 350 paar.’ This government at the moment in parliament doesn’t have a single Muslim MP. This 350 or 400 paar is also probably not going to have a single Muslim MP. 13% of your population in a way is being invisibilized. I don’t want to say it in this room also but I know in my own colony, which is an affluent and upmarket colony, how many Muslims live there today? There is a systematic invisibilizing of the Muslims.”

While acknowledging that he was not singling out any individual for blame, Sardesai emphasized the urgent need for introspection within the media fraternity. He challenged media professionals to reflect on their role in perpetuating stereotypes and contributing to the proliferation of hate politics targeting marginalized communities.

“I am not blaming an individual for it but this is the nature of it. An indoctrination has set in and I think since we are in a media conclave, we in the media should also look inside. How much have we done to spread these kinds of stereotypes, prejudice and the worst kind of hate politics that targets people because of the community they belong to? Nothing can be more dangerous for India in the future, the country with the third-largest Muslim population if the party in power with 400 MPs can not throw up a single Muslim MP or cannot actually actively promote a sense of genuine cooperation between communities. Don’t blame anyone and we in the media need to look inward.” He added.

The video clip of Sardesai’s speech quickly gained traction on social media platforms, with many users applauding his courage in addressing sensitive issues and advocating for greater inclusivity and representation in Indian politics. Several users also pointed out how the cameraman had done a commendable job by bringing Sudhir Chaudhary on screen while Sardesai was questioning the role media has played in spreading these kinds of stereotypes, prejudice and the worst kind of hate politics that targets people because of the community they belong to.

My victory in LS polls would make sure Vijayendra resigns as BJP’s state president: Eshwarappa

March 21, 2024 by Nasheman

My victory in LS polls would make sure Vijayendra resigns as BJP's state president: Eshwarappa
Former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa

Former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa, who recently declared his candidacy as an Independent for the Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, asserted that his triumph in the upcoming elections would prompt the resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President, BY Vijayendra.

Eshwarappa, aiming to defeat BJP candidate BY Raghavendra, emphasized that his victory would signify Vijayendra’s departure from his party leadership role.

Eshwarappa’s decision to contest independently stems from the denial of the BJP ticket to his son KE Kanthesh for the Haveri constituency. Expressing dissatisfaction with party veteran BS Yediyurappa’s leadership, whom he accuses of reneging on promises regarding Kanthesh’s candidacy, Eshwarappa remains steadfast in his resolve to contest independently.

Addressing reporters and supporters at his residence in Shivamogga on Wednesday, Eshwarappa reiterated his determination to defeat Raghavendra. He confidently predicted that his electoral success would precipitate Vijayendra’s resignation from the BJP state presidency.

While acknowledging assurances from the BJP High Command regarding potential positions for himself and his son, Eshwarappa emphasized his sole concern for the party’s welfare. Asserting his desire to see the BJP liberated from the influence of the Yediyurappa family, he clarified his reluctance to pursue high-ranking positions.

Discussing support garnered from various quarters within the Shimoga constituency, Eshwarappa highlighted endorsements from unexpected sources, including the pontiff of the Sigandhur Chowdeshwari Temple. Bolstered by these assurances, he expressed confidence in his electoral prospects and envisioned a comprehensive victory for the BJP across Karnataka.

Encouraging his supporters to rally behind him, citing his alignment with BJP ideology, Eshwarappa pledged to reunite with the party following a successful campaign against the Yediyurappa family.

Union minister and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday directed the Karnataka chief electoral officer (CEO) to take immediate and appropriate action on the DMK’s complaint about alleged model code violation by Union minister and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje.

The poll panel also sought a compliance report on the matter within 48 hours.

This is the first action ordered by the EC against a key political figure this Lok Sabha pols.

In its complaint to the Election Commission earlier in the day, the DMK said that the minister’s statement generalised the people of Tamil Nadu as “extremists”.

During a protest in Bengaluru on Tuesday, she had said that “law and order in Karnataka has deteriorated. People who come from Tamil Nadu plant bombs here, people from Delhi chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans and people who come from Kerala were involved in acid attacks.”

She later apologised for her remarks and said she was retracting her comments.

The Madurai police has booked her for “promoting enmity” between different groups, while her remarks had drawn sharp criticism from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and other DMK leaders.
