The Jeeevanbhimanagar police have arrested a Arogya Mitra staff of Manipal hospital for dubious admission and blocking of beds at Manipal hospital.
Nodal officers team headed by Senior officers, as,Alok kumar ADGP KSRP,Captain Manivanan P,IAS unearthed the racket after a surprise check.
The accused has been identified as,Pavan Shetty,Working as Arogya Mitra staff from SAST in Manipal HAL Hospital.
Senior officer said,An Inspection team comprising of two senior officials exposed another bed allotment scam and caught Arogya Mitra staff for running the racket at Manipal hospital on old airport road on Friday.
The Inspections team comprising of Captain Manivannan,and ADGP, (KSRP) Alok Kumar, found irregularities in connection with the admission and discharge of the patients after their surprise visit to the hospital.
Based on the complaint filed by Ravindra Kumar, Executive Engineer of BWSSB and part of the inspection team,the Jeeevanbhimanagar police registered and FIR against Pavan Shetty,working as the Arogya Mitra staff from SAST in Manipal HAL hospital.
Pavan was deployed as Arogya Mitra staff as incharge of Covid19 patients admission to manipal hospital who are refereed by BBMP with BU numbers.
However the probe by the inspection team revealed that he had admitted Subramanyam J and Rajgopal Achar of Kolar and Tumakuru district.
The team visited the ward and inquired with the family members to find,Pavan Shetty had blocked about seven beds in the name of a few patients who were discharged a week ago and had admitted two persons from Kolar and Tumkur without verification and had allotted those beds to them with different index names.
The BU code is generated only for residents of Bengaluru and the SAST bed is also allotted using the BU code which he had manipulated.
During the probe the inquiry team also found that the hospital has reportedly charged Rs.7,000 for two vials of Remdesivir from the patient.
There was also an allegation that the hospital did not admit a patient,which is being probed.
Alok Kumar ADGP KSRP,after his surprise visit to Manipal hospital as he said that it is his one more round of visit to the Manipal hospital during Inspecting we found suspicious activities in the hospital in bed allotment.
Based on which we deployed a team to investigate all the admissions and discharges at the hospital and verify with the patients/family members.
The team found there was a dubious admission and bed blocking done by the staff based on which the team filed a complaint against the Arogya Mitra staff and unearthed the racket he said.
He even said,Roles of other concerned too under scanner.Trying our best to have patient friendly Bed management system in our zone he added.
The Jeeevanbhimanagar police have registered a case against the Arogya Mitra staff charging him under Disaster Management Act and also under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant.)and section 408 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) against him. The police have taken him into custody for further investigations.
