Sexual harassment of women at work place ( prevention , prohibition) act 2013 was passed with the objective of providing protection to the women at workplace . Sexual harassment is when one person subjects another person to an unwelcome act like grabbing , touching , pinching etc. The act covers students in schools and colleges as well as patients in hospitals right from the time of her birth or even before a girl could become victim of a crime or target of a crime .
Foeticide and infanticide
Where there is an economic or cultural preference for sons, the pregnancy diagnostic tools can lead to foeticide.
School going age
Many girls are not given the access opportunity and completion of proper primary and secondary education as compared to boys and otherwise may also suffer from discrimination at the hands of parents and teachers in their up bringing.
Marriage
Many more are tortured physically , economically and emotionally after their marriage by their husband and inlaws.
Motherhood
Women are sometimes not provided medical care and healthy food during and after her pregnancy . She is often compelled Harry to abort a female foetus.
Workplace
Often women suffer from exploitation unequal pay for equal work , lack of promotions disputite , physical , economic and emotional abuse.
Sexual harassment comes in many forms and not just a single one . It includes when someone tries to touch, grab or make other physical consents with you without your consent. Further , it also include passing comments which have a sexual meaning . No one in this world deserve to go through sexual harassment whether man or woman . We all have the right to live freely without being harassed.
We found that workers across industries experience many forms of harassment some experience sexual harassment that would rise to the legal standard of either quid pro quo harassment ,or harassment that is so server and pervasive that is constitutes a hostile work environment that negatively impacts ones work . Many also commonly experience gender harassment which is generally not about sexual attraction or sexuality at all and may not rise to the standard required to file a legal complaint nevertheless , gender harassment can powerfully shape individual experience , workplace cultures and block women’s and other targets access to opportunity and advancement , perpetuating traditionally masculine power structures gender harassing physical , verbal , and symbolic behaviours insult and degrade a target’s gender in an effort to assert power control behaviour or force those who don’t conform out of a particular job or out of the profession entirely.
There are many factors of harassment which varies from situation to situation . The most significant factor is our culture values and the relative power and status of the men and women in our society . The way women and men are brought up in our society influences their behaviour . women usually lack the confidence because since childhood their behaviour is customised to suffer silence and make compromise on the other hand men are brought up exactly Opposite to women. Such view creates an atmosphere that allows men the freedom of sexual harassment in the work place .in recent years social and political changes have brought the power game. Advancement of women in career their independence at work threatened the men .so in the tough times men try to insist on sexual favours in exchanging for benefits he can give out due to his position .
Harassment is a world wide growing problem in every sector whether it’s government sector private sector , school or institute harassment hinders with people’s educational path and career and productivity . the effecients of harassment can be physical emotional and physiological . Harassment at work place is depending it’s roots which cause adverse effects to the growth of economy which leads to lower moral and low productivity increase in absenteeism and employee turnover that cost a lot to any organisation
