Ragini Khanna who has appeared in more than 30 television shows and has earned numerous accolades has a significant fan base, who actually refer to themselves as “Raginians”. Nene Raju, Nene Mantri Breaks Many Stereotypes

Catherine Tresa, who is seen smoking in the teaser of Rana Daggubati starrer Telugu drama Nene Raju, Nene Mantri, avers the film breaks many common stereotypes and that’s what makes it unique. “I’m not going to say why my character is seen smoking in the teaser. But what I can tell you is that the film breaks many stereotypes. It’s a very mainstream film and you will see Rana Duggabati, who is known to do certain kind of films, go down a path less taken,” Catherine avers. Elaborating on it, she averred, “The film breaks away from the regular commercial format. A lot of people by now must have assumed that I play a badass because my character is seen smoking. The film breaks such stereotypes.” Directed by Teja, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Ashutosh Rana & Navdeep. On teaming up with Teja, she averred that she was bowled over by his confidence. “I really liked the story, especially the confidence with which Teja narrated. I’m a very greedy person when it comes to good roles and I didn’t think even for a minute when I heard this story. The way he narrated the story, it piqued my interest,” she added. Asked about sharing screen space with Rana Duggabati, Catherine quipped: “I had to find really high heels to match his height. It was very interesting to work with him. Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam 1985 is the 1st film to reserve berth for Pongal 2018. Mahesh Babu’s film with Koratala also is targeting the same release date. Now as per the latest buzz from film circles, Pawan Kalyan’s untitled film directed by Trivikram is joining Pongal race. Trivikram planned to release it for Dussera, but the makers have decided to release it for Sankranthi due to the delay in filming. A film riding on nearly Rs. 120 crores should be released for a big festival or in a holiday season. As the film missed out on Dussera, only Sankranthi is the best time to release it. Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam will be in a soup with Pawan Kalyan joining Sankranthi race. Charan can afford to clash with other big stars, but clashing with Power Star will not be welcomed by mega fans. Makers of Rangasthalam also cannot risk losing the festival advantage. How would Charan & Pawan sort this out so that none of the films get affected?

Because, the story that Bobby is making is copy of a foreign language movie. Still, NTR is angry with Jagannad Puri’s gang accusing him of stealing the story. He is said to have been deeply hurt with this as NTR is very close to Jagannad Puri and it was he who asked his brother Kalyan Ram to do the movie when Jagannadh Puri badly needed a project. Jagannadh Puri’s team accused that some elements of the script that Jagannadh Puri narrated to NTR have been incorporated in Jai Lava Kusa. After watching recently released teaser in which NTR was seen telling dialogues in stammering manner, Jagannadh Puri’s team believes that NTR copied this idea from Jagannadh Puri’s narration. Sometime back, Jagannadh Puri had told NTR a story that has lead hero having stammering problem. But NTR didn’t like the script, so he did not sign Jagannad Puri’s movie. Strong buzz in the industry is that the story idea of Jai Lava Kusa is copied from a 2008 Korean blockbuster. So, why Jannadh Puri is doing hungama over this Korean idea? If anyone has a problem with Jai Lava Kusa (JLK}, it must be the original Korean filmmaker!!!

It is not the 1st time for Taapsee Pannu to make fun of Southern Cinema Industry. She has made insulting comments on the way Southern Cinema portrays its female leads in the past too. Now she goes a step ahead in a talk show with a comedy YouTube channel and made derogatory remarks against Telugu cinema & her debut film with director K. Raghavendra Rao. Taapsee made fun of being hit by coconuts on her midriff in a song from Jhummandi Naadam. “I don’t know what is so sensuous about hitting a girl on her midriff. But the director who has made over 100 films had launched Sridevi & Jayasudha. They were apparently hit by flowers & fruits on their midriff,” Taapsee told while the show hosts and the hundreds of audiences had a hearty laugh at the expense of the legendary director & Telugu Cinema. Taapsee also stated that South Cinema Industry only recognized that she can act after watching films like Pink & Naam Shabana. She has been so critical about Telugu cinema restricting her to a glam doll. Chiranjeevi Garu Is A Sensitive & Sweet Person

Late Uday Kiran’s sister has opened up about what transpired more than one and a half decade ago when her brother was supposed to marry Chiranjeevi’s daughter, Sushmitha. “Uday Kiran was going through a trauma when his love life (with a journalist) fell on the rocks. Chiranjeevi garu was a huge emotional support during this phase. He advised my brother to focus on career and grab the many opportunities he was getting. It was Chiranjeevi garu who 1st proposed that Uday marry his daughter. But Uday discovered that his likes & dislikes were not compatible with that of Sushmita. It was his call to call off the marriage,” Uday’s sister has said in an interview. It has been widely believed that the Megastar called off the wedding when he discovered that Uday was still in touch with his ex – girl friend even after engagement with Sushmitha. Uday tragically committed suicide in 2013.

Buzz in the industry is that Kalyani Priyadarshan has officially signed Akhil Akkineni’s 2nd movie. She is debuting as heroine in this film. Kalyani Priyadarshan is a daughter of popular movie director Priyadarshan & actress Lissy. Kalyani did her education in New York and has been trying to step into the film industry. Several Bollywood starlets like Alia Bhatt & Parineeti Chopra were considered for this movie but they didn’t show much interest. Director Vikram Kumar wanted a new face for this story. So, he has been chosen, says a source. This untitled film is under progress in Hyderabad. Nagarjuna is producing it on a lavish scale on his Annapurna Studios banner. Akhil earlier revealed that the movie is an action romantic drama. “It is more of a love story than an action drama but the action episodes will be novel,” he averred.

Sai Dharam Tej Works For Free

Sai Dharam Tej, who will be seen in a cameo in filmmaker Krishna Vamsi’s upcoming Telugu action thriller Nakshatram, enancted his part for free out of his love & respect for the director. “Since it was a cameo and was something that got Sai really excited, he did not charge any fee for it. Krishna Vamsi went out of his way and thanked him for the gesture,” a source from the film’s unit revealed. In the film, Tej will be seen in a 20 minute cameo. He plays a police officer called Alexander. On working with Krishna Vamsi, Tej said in a statement: “I really enjoyed working with him; he taught me a lot. It is one experience that I would cherish throughout my career. I want to thank him for giving me this opportunity.” The film, slated for release in Aug, 2017, also stars Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra & Pragya Jaiswal. Tej is currently busy dubbing for his upcoming Telugu actioner Jawaan.

Directed by Krishna Marimuthu, the thriller is produced by Rajani Korrapati of Vaarahmi Chalana Chitram fame. Also starring Lavanya Tripathi, the film has story by David R Nathan of Gentleman fame. It has been co – written by Abburi Ravi. While music is by Vivek Sagar of Pelli Choopulu fame, the cinematography is by Niketh Bommi. There are speculations that the movie will hit the screens on 11th Aug, 2017, but nothing is official as yet.

The project is going to be revived. Nikhil Siddharth may well step into Mass Maharaja’s shoes. After Kesava, this is going to be yet another action thriller for the young actor. How far Nikhil can reprise Atharvaa well is to be seen. Kesava didn’t have action of the kind we see in a mainstream actioner. Kanithan’ has to be adapted to suit Telugu nativity.

9 new pay channels were launched in the exit quarter of FY 2017, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has said in its quarterly performance indicator report. Further, no pay channel was converted into free – to – air (FTA) & 1 chanel, namely Zee Q, was discontinued. Sony Pictures Networks India had launched Sony Rox HD, Sony BBC Earth & Sony BBC Earth HD. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is wanting to develop an ecosystem which will encourage private FM radio broadcasters to move to digital radio broadcasting. This will improve the audio quality for the listeners & broadcasters will also be able to air 3 to 4 programmes & channels on a single frequency. Under the analogue mode, broadcasters are only able to push through 1 programme per frequency.

English GEC Zee Café grabbed the top position from Comedy Central with 411,000 weekly impressions, registering a growth of 8.73%. According to BARC data for Week 26, AXN & Star World maintained their 3rd & 4th positions respectively, while Color Infinity entered the chart at #5. Meanwhile, Star World HD exited the list.

Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is all set to air another comedy show The Drama Company from 16th Jul, 2017. The 1 hour show will be aired at 8 pm every Sat & Sun, replacing the existing kids’ reality series Sabse Bada Kalakar. The show will precede the channel’s popular comedy series The Kapil Sharma Show, which is broadcast at 9 pm.

Amazon & Excel To Create Web Series

After releasing its 1st original India web series Inside Edge, Amazon Prime Video is said to be creating a web series about Housing.com founder & former CEO Rahul Yadav. The public spat between Rahul Yadav & Housing.com investors, which resulted in Rahul Yadav quitting the company, will be made into an Amazon web series, reports The Times of India. Excel Entertainment, run by Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani, is behind the project & the show will be launched next week.

Zee Media Makes Organisational Changes

Zee Media Corporation Ltd (ZMCL) has made some organisational changes including the role of Jagdish Chandra, the CEO of its regional channels. Chandra, who had seen his role grow and was also named CEO of the print daily DNA, will now get less to handle. He has expressed his desire to lighten his load.

Broadband & Cable TV Initiatives

Broadband is getting a boost in Tamil Nadu. In order to expand internet service connectivity, state – owned Arasu Cable TV Corporation has given the green signal to more than 170 companies to go ahead and start the service after receiving over 300 applications. The Tamil Nadu state government expects to provide the internet service to about 24,750 households under this initiative. Arasu had floated expression of interest to become business partners on revenue sharing basis.

DTH Subs Up 1.5% To 63.61 MN

The total net pay active subscriber base of 6 Indian direct – to – home (DTH) companies grew by 1.53% to 63.61 million in the quarter ended 31st Mar, 2017 compared to 62.65 million a quarter ago, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has said in its quarterly performance indicator report based on information provided by the DTH operators.

The company, which has invested over Rs 20,000 crore in the sports business, is eyeing operational break – even from this segment in FY18. Sale Of Reliance Digital TV Part

In a presentation to lenders about its long – term debt reduction plan, Reliance Communications has included the sale of its direct – to – home (DTH) business. The other assets identified for sale include real estate & under – sea cable. RCom plans to bring down it’s nearly Rs 45,000 – crore debt by 60% by Sept, 2017 & 80% by Dec, 2017. Reliance Digital TV, the DTH arm of RCom, has just 2% share of the active subscriber base.

Varun Tej’s Career Is Not Looking So Bright

The career of Varun Tej is looking not so bright. He has couple of movies on hand and is getting good remuneration as well. Yet, he has no blockbuster in his career. Kanche was the sole success. After delivering huge dud with Mister, he will now be testing his luck at the Box – Office turnstile again with Sekhar Kammula’s Fidaa. Sekhar Kammula has also gone out of form with his last 2 movies. He needs to prove his mettle again with Fidaa. The teaser of Fidda is not at all interesting. On Sat, he also launched another movie in the direction of a newcomer. This film too is not hot project as per as the distributors are concerned. So his prospects for a blockbuster are looking bleak at this moment. The lanky tall hero is a handsome guy and he looked quite promising when he made his debut. But he has not been able to deliver a blockbuster.

Working On DJ Was Fulfilling Experience For Pooja Hegde

Pooja Hegde, last seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, avers that she had a fulfilling experience while working in the upcoming Telugu entertainer Duvvada Jagannadham aka DJ. “I thoroughly enjoyed shooting for Duvvada Jagannadham aka DJ and the experience has been very fulfilling. As an actor, it’s essential a film does well, but its fate is not in our hands. What’s more important are the memories you make while working on each project.” She added, “You spend nearly 6 months on a project. You leave everything & stay with people you don’t even know. If you don’t enjoy working with them, nothing else really matters. You need to find a family in the people you work with. I’m glad I found a family in Duvvada Jagannadham aka DJ.” Having mostly played the homely, girl – next – door in her Telugu films so far, Pooja has upped the glamour quotient in Duvvada Jagannadham aka DJ. “Unlike my simple & good looking avatars so far, I have played a very glamorous role. It’s the kind of character that helped me grow as an actor,” she said, heaping praises on co -star Allu Arjun, “He is like a rubber man…someone who can dance phenomenally and he does it with a0certain swag. I always end up working with great dancers. It was Hrithik (Roshan) last time & now Allu Arjun,” she stated. “Each time I saw his dance portion, I’d call him and say how he nailed every step. I would tell him jokingly that I have to take extra dance lessons just to match his performance. He is a very friendly & a honest co – star.” she concludes. Rana to Act Under Vinayak’s Direction?

Rana Duggabatti has gained great popularity with Baahubali series but his aim is now to get the success as a solo hero. He is now interacting with directors to line up his next movies. He is looking for a director who establishes him as a big star. On the other hand, his father Suresh Babu is trying to rope in V V Vinayak, who has been sitting idle after the release of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 and his efforts to get dates of a top star went in vain. Hoping to begin a movie with NTR next year, he is just cooling off without any work. It has to be seen whether he would give his nod to direct Rana Duggabatti. V V Vinayak earlier rejected the offer of directing Sai Dharam Tej on the grounds that the budget is not viable. He now cannot make a movie with Rs 40 Cr budget, where as Sai Dharam Tej has just Rs 25 cr market. Hence the proposal didn’t materialize. But with Rana Duggabatti, he will not face such a problem as his movies can be dubbed into Tamil, Hindi & Malayalam languages.

Ram Charan Shoots Amidst Tough Conditions

Ram Charan is braving tough conditions and shooting longer hours for his upcoming Telugu rural – based romantic – drama Rangasthalam, a source said, “It has been the toughest schedule to shoot actually!!! The call times are all before sunrise and we are wrapping up only post sunset. So it’s long days.” Being directed by Sukumar, the film also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu. “The other day we were shooting a key sequence in the bushes and though Ram Charan was bruised, he was the least complaining person. Instead, he called the ongoing schedule as the most satisfactory one.” The film’s shoot is currently underway in the remote areas of the Godavari district. “The shoot will go on till the month end. Then, it will shift soon to grand sets that are being erected in Hyderabad. Art director Rama Krishna is currently taking care of the sets works in the city,” he said. The film, which has music by Devi Sri Prasad, also stars Aadi Pinisetty & Jagapathi Babu.
