3,000 FILM ENTRIES LEAD TO REMARKABLE FILM SELECTION AT JAGRAN FILM FESTIVAL

Diligently browsing through a maze of over 3,000 film entries the Preview Team of 7 th Jagran FilmFestival concluded its selection process . Recently Shiv Sena, celebrated its golden jubilee on the 19th of June, 2016. On this occasion, the Thackeray Bahu – Smita Thackeray and her son Rahul Thackeray shared some fond memories of their beloved ‘Balasaheb Thackeray’, who was lovingly addressed as ‘Saheb’ and confirmed the news of making a biopic on the latter’s life.The strong social activist and producer Smita Thackeray will be producing the biopic and will be directed by her elder son Rahul Thackeray. The bahu had a dream to write a biography on ‘Saheb’ which unfortunately didn’t materialize but she feels blessed to have a son like Rahul who willingly took forward her dream of bringing forth the interesting journey of Balasaheb Thackeray. Smita Thackeray shares “Balasaheb has always been an enigma and a legend for both his followers and his family. It is always an honor to be a part of his journey. I believe his life’s story needs to be shared and I am glad that my son, Rahul, has taken up the challenge on making this biopic on his grandfather and my father-in-law, “Saheb”. Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and ShekharKapur’s daughter has penned down and composed her first song& will be launching it soon. Kaveri, currently a student of class 9, will soon be lunching her first song Did You Know. Having startedher musical training in Hindustani classical music at the age of six, Kaveri then trained in western classical vocals, piano and guitar and subsequently started to write and compose songs at the age of11, recording her first single at the age of twelve. “Making music is all I want to do,”says Kaveri. “Though I started to sing when I was about six, I didn’t become passionate about it until I started writing and composing my own songs,”says Kaveri.“Writing and singing are the only things I think I willnever get bored of. I feel like music is the only thing that makes sense to me. My song writing islargely inspired by the situations and people around me. A lot of my songs talk about veryexaggerated versions of personal experiences. My parents have always encouraged me and supported me, and I don’t think Iwould have been able to discover my love for music and develop my talent if it wasn’t for them.” As for future plans Kaveri wants to pursue a higher formal education in music. Royal College ofMusic, Guildhall or Berklee are some of the institutions she hopes to head out to in the near future.

Love Ke Funday, a romantic comedy film produced under the banner of FRV Big Business Entertainment Private Limited by Producers Faaiz Anwar and Prem Prakash Gupta, is slated for release in July this year. Indervesh Yogee is the Writer-Director of the movie. The music of the film was released in aglorious way on a very grand scale. It was launched by director Anubhav Sinha (Tum Bin, Ra.One Fame) at Hotel Sea Princess, Juhu , Mumbai on 22nd June 2016. Music is released by Zee Music Company and composed by Praksah Prabhakar & Farzan Faaiz. The launch was followed by cutting a customised cake. Later, singer Sukhwinder Singh and Khushi Thakur turned the event into a romantic musical evening with their melodious voices. The star cast of the film which includes Shaleen Bhanot, Harshvardhan Joshi, Rishank Tiwari, Ritika Gulati, Samiksha Bhatnagar and Sufi Gulati added glamour to the evening. The story of the film revolves mainly around these four actors and four actresses. BADMAN AKA GULSHAN GROVER LENDS VOICE TO THE ‘BAD GIANT’ IN STEVEN SPIELBERG’S THE BFG

After the last power-packed Oscar nominated movie, ‘Bridge of Spies’ -the visionary and celebrated filmmaker Steven Spielberg is back with fantasy adventure film ‘The BFG’ which is all set to release India on 15th July. Well for the giant Bollywood release, B-town’s badman aka Gulshan Grover lends his voice in the hindi dubbed version of Spielberg’s ‘The BFG’. Gulshan being one of the celebrated actors also in the west, was apparently an obvious choice to play the main baddie Fleshlumpeater (which is portrayed by Jemaine Clement). Well, the role definitely suits our Badman and he did enjoy playing the character. The BFG which stands for ‘Big friendly Giant’ whose screenplay is by the very famous Oscar nominee Late Melissa Mathison (Ex-wife of Harrison Ford) and is based on the novel of the same name by Ronald Dahl.The film stars Mark Rylance ( of Bridge of Spies fame) in the title role, an elderly giant who kidnaps the orphan Sophie, played by Ruby Barnhill, as to accompany his loneliness and to help him on a mission in Giant Country. Sophie befriends a friendly giant as they set out on an adventure to capture the evil, man-eating giants who have been invading the human world.The BFG premiered on May 14, 2016 at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in an out of competition screening. The BFG has received generally positive early reviews. Reliance entertainment has a Pan India release for this friendly giant movie in 4 languages – English, Hindi, Tamil &Telugu. 3,000 FILM ENTRIES LEAD TO REMARKABLE FILM SELECTION AT 7TH JAGRAN FILM FESTIVAL

Diligently browsing through a maze of over 3,000 film entries the Preview Team of 7th Jagran Film Festival concluded its selection process. The selection includes the Best of Indian & International Cinema. While some films are from renowned film festivals like Berlin, Rotterdam & Sundance, there are a lotof films hitherto unexplored by film festivals. Aces: All said & done it is the performance of actors like Daniel Radcliffe, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrrelson, Dave Franco, Jay Chou who have enlivened the proceedings to some extent and salvage the film.

Minuses: The entire heist drama seems totally unconvincing & far – fetched.

Last Word: The genre of Now You See me 2, a sequel, is mystery & suspense but the film is lacking in totality in both the arenas.
