A very interesting seminar on Trends & Challenges in elder care was held in Bengaluru on 29th Aug, 2018. The seminar focused on the need to integrate care to living solutions & need to create an inclusive society that will address needs of elders including elders with special children.
Speaking on the occasion Col. Achal Sridharan (VSM), Managing Director of Covai Care, stressed on the need to build a care inclusive living model for seniors. With longevity, he said people spend a 3rd of their life after retirement and while designing solutions to them, one must keep in mind the need to integrate care.
Adarsh – Managing director of Mantri Primus spoke about perceptions & realities in elder care. Ganesh, Chairman Portea spoke on the rise of elder care as an industry & need for funding the requirements. He said that the surging elder population in India posed a challenge & opportunity to policy makers. He spoke about the varied investment opportunities in this sun rise industry.
District Governor RI District 3190 Rtn. Suresh Hari was the chief guest. A book on ageing & care was launched during this seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, he informed the audiences about varied initiatives of the Rotary specific to district 3190 & commitment to cause of Care.

Dr. Radhamurthy of Nightingale spoke on dementia, Dr. Nagesh Simha from Karunashraya spoke on palliative care, Rajagopal founder & CEO of KITES spoke on assisted living & preventive care, Dr. Anitha Arokiasamy spoke on home care & Sridhar Aravamuthan from Behavioral Momentum Institute spoke on care for elders with special children.
A very important topic on loneliness in elders was beautifully presented through a short film & presentation by Vineet Verma, CEO Brigade Hospitality Services. Ayush from Seniority.in spoke on how products made a change to the day to day living of seniors.
A very unique panel presented the need to create an inclusive society. R. Puneet Gupta from SAP touched upon SAP’s CSR initiative of touching a billion lives through health care, Dr. Ali Khwaja of Banjara Academy spoke about cause of persons with disabilities, Vidya Ramasubban co-founder of Kick start cabs spoke about mobility solutions to the challenged, Swapna Kishore on creating a supportive environment for dementia.
The audience was across a segment of stake holders across NGOs, HR professionals, Care specialist, Hospitality, Health Care, Private Equity, Builders, Architects , Consultants et al.
