Bengaluru, Mar 27 : Denial of the party ticket to Ms Tejasvini Ananthkumar from Bengaluru South Lok Sabha segment, that was taken without giving a hint to local BJP leaders in the city by the central party leadership, was opposed senior leader N Somanna on Wednesday
Senior BJP MLA elected from the city, came out in the open against naming greenhorn Tejaswi Surya, instead of Ms Tejaswani and said the news came as ‘bolt from the blue’ for him.
Speaking to newsmen after visiting Ms Tejasvini at her residence today, Mr Somanna, one of the strong votaries for the candidature of her for the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, said that ?So far I am not clear over how the party ticket was denied to Ms Tejaswini?.
Stating that it was an unanimous decision of the BJP leaders in the state, recommending a single name of Ms Tejasvisini to the Central BJP leaders, to field from the Bengaluru South seat, he said that ?I want to know the real reason for the denial of ticket to Tejasvini?.
BJP sources said Tejeswi Surya got the nod ahead Ms Tejaswini as he was young and as per the ‘cue’ given by the RSS.
Terming the missing of the party ticket to Tejasvini Ananthkumar, is an unfortunate thing, he said ?there will be a senior leaders meeting scheduled to be held in three days, where I will seek to know the reasons behind the denial of ticket? he said.
He said that ?Unless I am convinced on the issue, I will not take part in the campaign for the BJP candidate, Tejasvi Surty in my Govindarajanagar Assembly constituency?.
It may be recalled that the Central party leaders, who had kept the party workers on guessing on the announcement of the party ticket to Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, had sprang a surprise by fielding Tejasvi Surya, a green-horn to the prestigious Bengaluru South seat, in which the BJP had never lost the elections in the last six General Elections.
