After B S Yeddyurappa’s decision on withdrawing the ticket to his son to challenge from Varuna constituency, the furious supporters of Vijayendra went on a strike. Vijayendra was campaigning in the constituency for as long as 15 days and was preparing to document his nomination papers before his father took a U-turn.
Amid the meeting at Nanjangud, senior BJP pioneers including B Sreeramulu and V Srinivasa Prasad, approached the activists to work for Vijayendra. Yeddyurappa, who talked toward the end of the meeting, had everybody astonished by reporting that Vijayendra would not challenge from Varuna electorate. Before long, the furious followers of Vijayendra went insane. They organized a flash protest and demanded Yeddyurappa to offer a ticket to Vijayendra. The party went to a granulating end and the dissenters vented out their outrage by throwing the chairs and other equipment.
Afterward, the party workers organized a protest before the President Hotel, where Yeddyurappa was staying. They even reprimanded former MLA S A Ramadas.
At the point when the situation went out of control, Police Commissioner Dr. Subramanyeswara Rao requested the police staff to utilize lathis to scatter the group. After lathi-charge, the group was scattered.
