First Additional District and Sessions Court in Kalaburagi has granted Galappa Doddamani, a resident of Saganur town in Afzalpur taluk, life detainment and forced on him a fine of ₹ 28,000 for killing his better half by setting her ablaze in March 2017.
According to points of interest gave by court specialists, Doddamani, who wedded Jayashree around five years back, was an alcoholic and fought with his wife and beat her regularly.
At the point when his wife asked money for celebrating the birthday of their child on March 28, 2017, Doddamani got into a fight with her and declined to give her any money. Annoyed with her husband’s conduct, she took her child and left home to go to her parents.
The accused brought her back home guaranteeing her of giving her money for their child’s birthday. As they reached home, the accused poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze at around 4.30 p.m. that day.
Her neighbors rushed grievously injured Jayashree to the District Government Hospital in Kalaburagi, where she died. A case was enrolled at Deval Ganagapur police headquarters.
Sangamesh P. Patil, Circle Inspector (Afzalpur), investigated the case and recorded the charge-sheet considering Doddamani in charge of the death of his better half. Amid trial, 22 witnesses were delivered and interrogated in court. The court additionally analyzed 36 exhibits. At long last, the court found the accused guilty of murdering his wife and granted him life detainment under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code.
