Sure,The movement will not tolerate such tendencies. Neither the DYFI nor the CPI (M) has a policy to protect criminals.When Rajmohan Unnithan and a woman were caught in a bad situation here, the Congress leadership protected them.

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident occurred in Azad Nagar here, a man has reportedly set his son on fire for losing an amount of Rs 12,000, the video of which has gone viral on social media.

The deceased has been identified as Arpit who was killed by his own father Surendra, reports said.

It was revealed that the horrifying incident captured in the viral video occurred earlier on 1 April where a father sets his own son on fire in broad daylight.

After learning that the son has lost Rs 12,000, Surendra poured petrol over him, threatening to set him on fire with a lit match stick, while following him outside their house is captured in the viral video.

The CCTV footage showed the boy screaming and running around on the streets after he was burnt by his father.

Although the boy was admitted to the Victoria Hospital by the locals, he breathed his last on Thursday due to ineffective treatment of severe burns.

Meanwhile, it is learned that a case has been registered in this regard with the DJ Halli Police Station and the accused has been arrested.

BENGALURU: Mosques in Karnataka have started receiving notices from the police to use their loudspeakers within the permissible decibel levels.

The move comes after some right-wing outfits launched a campaign demanding shutting down of such loudspeakers, saying they caused disturbance for people living in surrounding areas.

In Bengaluru alone, about 250 mosques have received such notices and the mosque authorities have started installing devices that keeps the sound within the permissible level, sources said.

The Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood has directed all the police commissioners, inspectors general of police and the superintendents of police to check violation of noise pollution rules by ‘religious institutions’, pubs, night clubs and other institutions and at functions.

Some outfits had submitted memoranda to various police officers on Tuesday requesting them to check the “misuse” of loudspeakers from mosques which, they alleged, has been going on even in the silent zones such as hospitals, important government offices, schools and colleges.

The outfits alleged that the blaring loudspeakers of mosques disturb sleep in the morning causing discomfort to students, patients, elderly people and those who work at night.

Following the direction from the DGP, the Bengaluru police started issuing notices to the mosques.

Khateeb-o-Imam of Jama Masjid in Bengaluru, Maqsood Imran said the mosques in Bengaluru have started installing devices on their loudspeakers after the Bengaluru city police served them notices.

“Over 200 to 250 mosques in Bengaluru have received the notice. We have been told to maintain the sound level. They have said that the directions issued by the Supreme Court need to be adhered to and if the orders are not followed then action will be initiated,” the Imam told PTI.

He added that the mosque authorities have started fitting the device with the amplifier, which ensures that the sound does not cross the permissible level.

“We also want to ensure that the Supreme Court order is followed. That’s why we have readied the device and started fixing it in all the mosques. That device has already been installed in our Jama Masjid,” he said.

BENGALURU: Leader of the terror outfit al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, praising the second-year BCom student Muskaan Khan for chanting ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ in reply to saffron-clad male students chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’ at her college in Mandya as she entered wearing a hijab in February, has evoked strong reactions from political sections, including Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra saying it is a vindication of their suspicions of an “unseen hand” behind the “conspiracy” of blowing the hjijab row out of proportion.But the standout reaction came from Muskaan’s father Mohammed Hussain, who, without mincing words, distanced his daughter, himself and his family from the al-Qaeda leader singing praises of Muskaan.

He said that he showed the video to his daughter and told her it was wrong and reminded her that she was still a student. “She wants to study,” he added. In the video, al-Zawahiri says Muskaan’s defiance of saffron-clad men had emboldened the spirit of jihad and awakened the Muslim community.  

In the end, al-Zawahiri adds that the incident inspired him to write a poem which he recited and asked Muskaan to accept it as a gift of words from him.Meanwhile, Araga Jnanendra said, “This is evidence of what we have been saying right from the start that there are ‘unseen hands’ that are part of the conspiracy. It is not normal for mere children to behave this way which is what the courts also maintained. The police have been asked to trace from where that video originated and the links.’’

Incidentally, sources in the security establishment said that after the video surfaced,  a vigil is being maintained on Muskaan’s house in Mandya.Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan expressed displeasure about a terror outfit — blamed for the 9-11 US bombings and several other attacks around the world — speaking about incidents in Karnataka and India, and said suitable legal action will be taken against them.

Former Union minister and ex-MLC CM Ibrahim, who recently joined JDS, said al-Qaeda is in no way related to Karnataka or India, and Muskaan is not aware of that outfit. “This video is created to mislead people,” he added.He said Hindus and Mulsims have lived together for centuries despite attempts to divide them. The Nandagudi police have intensified the search operation to track down 26-year-old Lohith, who is missing under mysterious circumstances since March 28.

The police found a car abandoned on road side near Shivapura gate in the ouitskirts of the city where the police found blood stains,a pair of slippers and a belt used by Lohith was recovered.

Lohith,husband of Aishwarya,former councilor of Binniypete left home to meet his friend and last spoken to his family that his car was punctured on roadside and he will be late.

Lohith owned a bike repair workshop and also taken a few acres of land on lease in the outskirts of the city to organize bike race and rallies .

Later his family members found his phone was switched off and went in search of him and found his car abandoned in the Nandagudi police station limits.

Three special teams have been formed who are tracking down Lohith and investigating in all angles to crack the mystery of the missing case said a senior officer.

The police have started seizing mics from religious places for defying the High Court (HC) order on noise pollution.

As part of the awareness drive, several mics have been seized from religious places for defying the court order and the police have booked cases under appropriate sections.

The drive will continue to monitor the prescribed decibel levels,and action will be taken against violators,Kamal Pant,City Police Commissioner, said .

In the wake of the campaign against Azaan by hindu activist, Mr. Pant, has instructed jurisdictional police to take legal action against violators and ensure law and order .

According to police sources,notices have also been issued to all the parties concerned from the pollution control board.

However,when contacted,Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) officials refused to acknowledge the notices or comment on the issue.

According to the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules,2000,restrictions on the use of loud speakers/public address system include not using one “except after obtaining written permission from the authority,and not using a loud speaker/public address system at night between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

except in closed premises for communication within – auditoriam,conference rooms,community halls and banquet halls.

The State Government may subject to such terms and conditions as are necessary to reduce noise pollution,permit use of loud speakers or public address systems during night hours (between 10 p.m.to midnight on or during any cultural or religious festive occasion of a limited duration not exceeding fifteen days in all during a calendar year,the rules add.

It may be recalled that six months ago, the south division police had launched a special drive and seized mics, booked cases and issued notices to mosques, temples and other places of worship for using loud speakers in the early hours, causing disturbance .

Security heightened

Meanwhile, security has been heightened in and around religious places, including mosques and temples in and around the city, in the wake of pro-Hindu activists launching a campaign against azaan -the call for prayers.

Police personnel have been deployed at all the religious places to ensure that the HC order on noise pollution should not be violated .

The HC order, given six months ago to all places of worship, puns and industries to keep a check on the sound level and warned to take action.

The police, at their jurisdictional level, organised peace meetings with religious leaders of both communities to inform them about the HC order.

However, Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik has warned the government to remove mics from all the mosques, failing which, he claimed that the protest would be intensified .

The members of pro-Hindu outfits are planning to sing bhajans in temples in the early hours to counter the morning azaan.

The Banashankari police on Monday arrested a gang of eight unemployed graduates from Andhra Pradesh and recovered 30 bikes worth Rs 68 lakh from them.

The accused have been identified as Vijay Bandi, 25, Hemanth, 27, Gunashekhar Reddy, 30, Bhanumurhy, 25, Purushotham Naidu, 30, Karthik Kumar, 27 and Kiran Kumar, 22 are engineering,

The accused are MBA and diploma graduates from a reputed colleges in Andhra Pradesh started stealing bikes to make quick money.

Senior officer told reporters,Based on a complaint filed by Rakesh,a resident of Thyagarajnagar on March 26, the Banashankari police analyzed the CCTV footages and track down the accused to their home town .

During investigation the accused confessed the crime and it has revealed that the accused have watched youtube and other social media on how to steal bikes without using ignition key and would come to city.

The accused would move around the city to identify bikes parked in front of the houses and steal them by breaking the hand lock and start the bike without keys.

The accused would ride the stolen bikes to their home town and sell it to the people on throwaway prices without documents .

The Banashankari police recovered the bikes stolen from in and around the city and remanded them to judicial custody and further investigations are on.

Replying to a question about the Azaan issue, Bommai said, there is a High Court order regarding Azaan.

The subsidy being paid for the SC/ST communities under the Land Ownership Scheme would be raised to Rs20 lakh from the present Rs15 lakh.A decision to this effect has been taken, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Chief Minister in his address at a function to present the Babu Jagjivan Ram award said, the subsidy being paid for construction of homes for the SC,ST communities would be raised to Rs2 lakh from the present Rs1.75 lakh.

It has been decided to formulate Babu Jagjivan Ram Self Employment Scheme for SC ST communities in every taluk.The scheme would be formulated and introduced within a week, Bommai said.

Free power upto 75 units

The State government has decided to provide free power upto 75 units for SC ST communities in rural areas.A government order to this effect would be issued within a week.

A special scheme to provide training for SC ST students in boarding schools to appear in various competitive exams would be launched this year, Bommai said.
