This year we have dedicated the day to help “Divyang” (handicap) & Sex Workers’ daughters who are pursuing education; the thought is inspired from and in support with our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana”.

DHARMENDRA SURPRISES SUNNY & KARAN DEOL ON THE SETS OF ‘PAL PAL DIL KE PAAS’

Recently, during the shoot of Sunny Deol’s directorial venture Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, starring Deol kid Karan as a debutant, was surprised by an unexpected visitor. The team was shooting at the Buddh racing circuit in NCR, when Dharmendra arrived at the location. Dharmendra said, “I was in Delhi for some work and had heard that they were shooting some racing car sequences. I decided to drop by and watch my grandson in action.” Sunny, after his papa’s surprised arrival got him so emotional that everything appeared like a mirage to him. Dharmendra said, “I’d dropped by the Betaab (Sunny’s 1st ever film) sets unannounced too and watched him playing football. My Kashmiri brothers & sister have since named that location as “Betaab Valley” in a touching gesture of love. Over 3 decades later, I arrived to find Karan behind the wheel of a racing car and watched him on the monitor where he spotted me after the shot”. Sunny said, “I was an actor who became a director and got back to it after a long time. I understand it a lot better now but since this is my son’s debut film, there’s a lot of pressure on me to make sure everything is right. I guess dad felt the same way when he was launching me. Now, being a father myself, I understand him better.” Dharmendra says, “Every father dreams of creating something beautiful for his child. It’s Sunny’s dream too and being Karan’s grandfather I share it. But in a world of make-believe, success comes by chance no matter how hard you work”.

PRITAM’S LOS ANGELES SOLD OUT CONCERT HELPED RAISED FUND FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Ace music composer Pritam’s recent Los Angeles concert was sold out. The concert, in association with Alapio for a cause, helped raising fund with this tie up. Bharat Patel of Alapio says, “Alapio raised funds for poor patients with Pritam Concert. Pritam & singers were expectedly fantastic. Alapio goal is health & well being of all and Pritam helped accomplish our goal.” Alapio provides free medical care & free surgeries to people who cannot afford to pay for them. The earlier shows in Chicago & Dallas were hugely successful as well and the word about the fabulous show has been continously building and adding to the excitement. Pritam who is currently touring North America is overwhelmed with the response from his fans. He says, “I love performing live and when the audience is as loving as it has been in this North America tour it makes me so glad that we made this tour happen. When the audience enjoys your music it’s the greatest high.” Speaking about it, the organisers says, “The Los Angeles show was sold out. The fan following Pritam has is tremendous, people have flown down from other cities for this and all were hysterical when he went on stage.”

NATIONAL FILM ARCHIVE OF INDIA ACQUIRES TREASURE-TROVE OF 16 MM FILMS

In one of the major acquisition, National Film Archive Of India (NFAI) has added 71 film prints in the 16 mm format to its collection. A major highlight of this acquisition is that 50 out of the 71 titles are new additions to the NFAI collection, meaning that the films were not previously present with NFAI in any format. There are 66 color films & 5 films from the black & white era. The acquisition includes 42 landmark black & white Marathi films, consisting of “Warnecha Waagh (1970), Sant Gora Kumbhar (1967) & KelaIshara Jaata Jaata (1965). The films in color also include some Marathi films like Pinjara (1972), Chandanachi Choli, Ang Ang Jaali (1975), Aaytya Bilawar Naagoba (1979), Sulawarchi Poli (1980), Ganimi Kawa (1981), Navri Mile Navryala (1984), Gulchadi (1984), Chambu Gabale (1989), De Dhadak Bedhadak (1990) & Pratikaar (1991). Prakash Magdum, Director, NFAI, said “This collection is important not only because of the titles in it but also because of the historical value of 16 mm prints. Very few 16 mm film distributors exist today in rural areas. The acquisition also includes 29 Hindi films in this collection with titles like Suhaag (1979), Andha Kanoon (1983), Nastik (1983), Ek Duje Ke Liye (1981), Raj Kapoor’s Prem Rog (1982), Ghayal (1990), Bol Radha Bol (1992), Virasat (1997) & Andaz Apna Apna (1994).
KARANVIR BOHRA WRAPS UP HIS 1ST EVER FEATURE FILM, ‘HUME TUMSE PYAAR KITNA’
Karanvir Bohra wrapped up his 1st ever feature film, Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna, recently in Madh Island This is his 1st ever Hindi film under his production company, Bora Bora Entertainment. It is made in association with T-Series. The film is directed by Lalit Mohan. Starring Karanvir Bohra & Priya Banerjee play the leads roles along with Samir Kochar & Mahesh Balraj. The crew shot for a song on the last day of the shoot. Karanvir Bohra said, “The film is like a baby for us because it had been with us since the inception stage, not only from the story or even idea but from the germ that we need to make a film. Today, it is unbelievable that the filming is over and we are on post the post-production stage.The director & the team have the equal amount of passion & fire towards their work and it shows in the film with its production value & grandeur which had been captured by Ace Cinematographer Santosh Thundiyal. The song was picturised on Krushna Abhishek & Mugdha Godse choreographed by Lollypop. Songs are written & composed by Praveen Bhardwaj. Manoj Sharma is the director of the film.

POOJA HEDGE NAILS A DANCE SEQUENCE IN A SINGLE TAKE!

Grace personified, Pooja Hegde most recently nailed a long dance sequence in a single take owing to limited time available to the team of the Telugu film they were shooting for, on a busy street in the United States of America. The team had only a window of 15 minutes as the high energy song needed to be shot in daylight, but thanks to 8 hours of rehearsals each day for a week, the stunner pulled it off with much aplomb. Says Pooja Hegde, “We had to shoot for the song in daylight, and because it was a busy road, we wanted to avoid rush. Also, the challenge was to get the steps right in a take. Fortunately, the director & the choreographer Okayed the shot.” With time, Pooja Hegde has risen to stardom after her debut in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, which made it clear that she was destined for blockbuster films. The fact that the gorgeous actress has signed 3 films with big stars of the South Indian film industry including Junior NTR, Prabhas & Mahesh Babu and has also been roped in for 2 films by KriArj Entertainment goes on to show that she has talent par excellence.

SALMAN KHAN WRITES & SING FOR ‘RACE 3’

The actor wields the mic for another track in Race 3. After debuting as a lyricist with a romantic number for Ramesh Taurani’s Remo D’souza directed Race 3, Salman Khan has penned another romantic song but this time, he will sing it too. While Pakistani singer Atif Aslam & Lulia Vantur gave playback for the 1st ever song which was recorded in Dubai & Mumbai recently, the new song was recorded a few days ago in the city. Salman recorded it at composer Vishal Mishra’s studio. After shooting at a Mumbai studio, and on location in Bangkok & Abu Dhabi, the film’s team are now headed to Leh in the coming week to shoot the romantic number along with some other scenes. “It will be a week-long schedule and the unit has grand plans for the outdoor shoot. The song will be choreographed by Remo.”The Race 3 soundtrack also features 2 recreated numbers from previous films in the franchise, “Allah Duhai Hai” & “Party On My Mind”. Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol & Daisy Shah will be joining Salman & Remo for the Leh schedule. The actor had previously lent his voice to songs like “Hangover” in Kick, “Main Hoon Hero Tera” for the Sooraj Pancholi & Athiya Shetty starrer Hero, and the “Chandi Ki Daal Par” in Hello Brother.

When Umesh Shukla, the director approached Rishiji to sing the song, though the actor was apprehensive he said that he would like to do rehearsals first and then sing. Umesh says, “When Rishiji came to the recording studio, after the 1st ever rehearsal itself he was himself surprised to discover his singing talent & his 1st one time was perfect.” Not only will we see the 2 superstars back after 27 years but also singing together! Ronnie Screwvala Backs Sushant & Sara’s Love Story

Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath has been the talk of the town lately owing to the differences between Abhishek & producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment which led to a halt in the shooting of the film. Ronnie Screwvala has taken over the reins of the movie by compensating the former producers Bhushan Kumar, Prernaa Arora & Ekta Kapoor. He will now be producing the project, the 2nd schedule of which will start by the month end in Mumbai. Abhishek Kapoor says, “I feel invigorated that he has stepped in & reinforced his faith in me. Just being in the same room with Ronnie is a privilege, making a movie with him is an honor”. ‘Rsvp’s Shoot In Sri Lanka Delayed

Anshuman Jha’s RSVP opposite Tannishtha Chatterjee has hit an unusual roadblock. The film was slated to kick – off in Sri Lanka on 27th Mar, 2018. However, given that the country declared a state of emergency last month after witnessing a spate of communal violence, the director of the film Chandan Roy Sanyal finds himself staring at a delay as far as his labor of love is concerned. The line producers in Sri Lanka suggested that they delay the shoot by at least a month to avoid running into trouble there. It affected all their individual schedules. Now, they are looking at rolling the project by Jul, 2018 end as the cast & the crew will be available then. Chandan Roy Sanyal says “We will most probably shoot in Assam, if not Sri Lanka. It’s a road trip film with love story and Assam is a kind of place which has an unexplored landscape. The delay has thrown all our individual schedules off as Anshuman, Tannishtha & me have other commitments lined up.” Anshuman adds “There is a silver lining that we both, Tannistha & me, have been nursing injuries (my ankle & Tannishtha’s shoulder) and we are using this uncalled break to recuperate”.

Bhavesh Shah of Matoshri Jayaben Himmatlal Shah Charitable Trust & Yogesh Lakhani of Bright Outdoor Media Pvt Ltd organized the 37th free grocery distribution to 350 needy families from Mumbai at Chikuwadi Borivali West. MJHS has been organizing free distribution of grocery every month on the 1st of Sun. Basic items usually get distributed to poor people of any cast and the trust has managed to help as many as 350 families with items like wheat, rice, pulses, edible oil, ghee, tea. The main moto of this distribution is nobody should feel the pain of hunger. The trust also gives “Ann Ahaar” every Sat to more than 700 poor people at Shatabdi Hospital & Chikuwadi office, Borivali West. Yogesh Lakhani says, “It’s my way of giving back to the society & to the nation that’s given me so much. Not only are we trying to feed the hungry but also educate the illiterates to help them stand on their feet.”MJHS not only has been supporting students by having given as many as 50,000 notebooks to 12,000 children but has also been helping with medical aid to the by giving free wheel chair, stool table, fouler bed, walkers on rent etc for the old age homes, senior citizens and cancer patients.

John Abraham Files 3 Criminal Complaints Against Prernaa Arora

John Abraham has filed 3 criminal complaints against Prernaa Arora & her company, KriArj Entertainment for cheating, breach of trust, defamation & offences committed under the Information Technology Act. These complaints have been filed at the Khar Police Station, Mumbai. John Abraham, through his production house JA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. had signed a co-production agreement with Prernaa Arora’s company Kriarj Entertaiment Pvt. Ltd. wherein Kriarj had agreed to pay Rs 35 crores to John’s company to cover the cost of production, fees of all actors and other production related expenses and had also agreed to additionally bear the Print & the Advertisement expenses (P&A) for the film Parmanu-The Story Of Pokhran against which John had agreed to assign the exploitation rights & 50% IPR to Prernaa’s company. However, after Prernaa’s repeated delays in making payments by stopping cheque payments & giving wrong bank transfer details (UTR numbers) at every stage and refusal to pay the last tranches of payment, which were critical for completing the post production work of the film, John first gave a legal notice to cure the breach & after Prernaa’s failure to cure the breaches, and terminated the agreement with Prernaa. After this termination, which is a purely Civil Dispute, Prernaa filed a false criminal complaint against John and started making defamatory statements against him in the media.

‘Gali Guleiyan’ To Release By May End

Manoj Bajpayee’s Hindi psychological drama Gali Guleiyan is about a man trapped within the walls & alleys of Old Delhi and his own mind, who attempts to break free to find a human connection. The main protagonist is played by Manoj Bajpayee ably supported by Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi & Shahana Goswami along with debutante child actor Om Singh. Verne Troyer Left for His Heavenly Abode

Hollywood has just received one more sad news. And it so happens that varied outlets have now confirmed that actor Verne Troyer has recently left for his heavenly abode. Verne Treyor just recently passed away at the ripe young age of 49.
Verne Troyer’s cause of death is still unknown at this time. So if you are familiar with Verne Troyer, it’s most likely because of his best-known role as Mini-Me in the “Austin Powers” series of films.
Verne Troyer became a bona fide star, yet Verne Troyer suffered a number of personal setbacks in the wake of his meteoric rise to fame.
Earlier this month, Verne Troyer was hospitalized after police were told that he was drunk and exhibiting suicidal behavior. Doctors reportedly treated him for alcohol poisoning upon his arrival.
There’s no word yet on whether Verne Troyer’s death was in any way tied to his most recent struggles.
Beginning his career as a stunt double in the year 1994 film Baby’s Day Out, Verne Troyer eventually amassed almost 60 films & some small screen credits over the course of his decades long career in Hollywood. Cinema.

(IANS) Superstar Salman Khan and producer Ramesh Taurani, who are currently busy here with the shoot of the third instalment of the “Race” franchise, met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Salman and the film’s team reached the picturesque Sonamarg hill station in the state for a two-day shooting schedule of Remo D’Souza directed movie “Race 3”.

A photograph of their meeting was shared by Taurani on his Twitter account.

“We thank Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for welcoming us in Kashmir for the final lap of ‘Race 3’ with Salman Khan,” Taurani tweeted with the image, in which he has posed with Mufti, Salman and the actor’s bodyguard Shera.

Besides Salman, “Race 3” will also feature Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem. The film scheduled to be released coinciding with the Eid festival on June 15.

He wove a film, “Unfreedom”, with lovemaking scenes, depicting lesbian relationships, Islamophobia and religious fundamentalism, and it was banned by the Indian censor board in 2015. Indian-American filmmaker Raj Amit Kumar is appalled by the lack of freedom filmmakers have in India and wonders how much self-censorship they have to do in the face of the industry’s “moral police”.

The censor board’s reason for keeping “Unfreedom” away from the big screen was the fear that the film would “ignite unnatural passions and incite rapes and communal violence in India”. However, now the movie has an avenue to reach audiences on online streaming giant Netflix.

When the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), then led by Pahlaj Nihalani, banned the film, the first thought that came to Kumar’s mind was: “How will I make my cinema in India?”

“It hit me hard: How much of self-censorship Indian filmmakers must be involved in so they do not have to face this. We do not even have a basic human right to freedom of speech and expression in India when it comes to cinema!

“Is that how we should keep making films in India — that we should first think what the censor board will approve and our films should be limited to those boundaries? It became very clear how subservient Indian filmmakers have been to the moral police of Indian cinema for seven decades,” he added.

Last year, the film was under review by CBFC, which wanted Kumar to cut crucial elements from the movie in order to be shown to the Indian public.

Later, Kumar appealed to the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT), which too banned the film.

A campaign was also run by the makers for a year during which they did around 100 screenings of the film in India and in the US, among other countries. Following this, the film was released internationally by Netflix.

After Nihalani was replaced by Prasoon Joshi as CBFC Chairman, did Kumar try to get a censor certificate again?

“No, I did not,” said Kumar.

He believes that the idea that a new jury or a new chair will bring any change to censorship in India is “only laughable”.

“It is ridiculous to frame censorship in India like that and hope for ‘improvements’ (when people in the board change)… It is all ridiculous and a sham that is against our basic human right of freedom of expression,” he said.

Kumar believes that, at this point, the very existence of the censor board needs to be addressed.

“Not that the people in it should be changed, but the censor board (as an) institution needs to be abolished and thrown in the garbage. How can you expect someone to be put in the job of censoring, and them not doing that job? The existence of that job itself is wrong, no matter who does it and at what levels of leniency,” he added.

Can platforms like Netflix, which are devoid of censorship, be called a boon for the cinema lover?

“By boon, if you simply mean helpful, then yes. Something is better than nothing. But by boon, if you mean a Godsend, a blessing, an alternative, then no,” said Kumar.

“Regardless of people being able to see it online, the key question is still that we should not see anything as an alternative to freedom of expression. It’s the most basic human right that we need to have, and we should not divert our attention from that,” he added.

“You can’t come and say, hey look, you have freedom of expression on Netflix but not in cinema theatres”.

Besides the critically lauded actor Adil Hussain, the film also features veteran actor Victor Bannerjee, Bhavani Lee, Preeti Gupta and Bhanu Uday.
