Cosmopolitan Bengaluru heralds New Year in grand style
Nasheman News :Thousands of revellers, including women and teens heralded the New Year on Tuesday in this cosmopolitan tech hub in grand style, dancing, cheering, screaming, greeting each other and partying hard well past midnight.
Undeterred by the presence of hundreds of stern policemen and women constables, drone cameras, giant screens and watch towers, revellers flocked to the city’s downtown by 9:00 pm to say goodbye to 2018 and usher in 2019, wishing all a happy New Year.
With vehicular traffic and parking banned in the central business district (CBD), revellers invaded the illuminated MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Lavell Road, St Mark’s Road, Richmond Road, Residence Road and Commercial Street to make merry and dance their way into the New Year on a cool night.
Those who could not go it to the CBD, thronged other localities across the city, including upscale Indiranagar, posh Koramangala, Jayanagar, Whitefield, Basavangudi, Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar and Majestic to name a few.
Star hotels, restaurants, eateries, cafes, food joints, bars, pubs and clubs were crowded cheek-by-jowl with revellers to ring out the old and ring in the New Year, drinking and eating to their heart’s content.
As the clock struck midnight, fire crackers were burst in several areas that lit up the night sky and disrupted the deafening sound of rock music by several bands in open areas, hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs.
Though about 12,000 police personnel were deployed across the city to ensure peace celebrations of the New Year eve, many of them had tough time in dispersing the revellers from the downtown well after the New Year unfolded in the wee hours.
“The celebrations were peaceful as no untoward incident was reported during the New Year eve and after midnight, as the security was tightened and vigil heightened to prevent mischief or trouble making,” Bengaluru Additional Commissioner of Police P Harishekaran told reporters at the city centre.
Flyovers and elevated roads across the city were shut from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am to prevent drunken driving and vehicular mishaps as a result.
State Home Minister MB Patil went around the CBD on Monday night to check the security arrangements and deployment of police personnel for the safety of the people, especially women and children.
According to reports from across Karnataka, people have celebrated the advent of New Year with joy and gaiety in cities and towns, including Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hassan, Hubballi, Belagavi, Bidar and Kalaburgi.
‘Thackeray’ director unfazed by box office clash
Nasheman News : Abhijit Panse, director of “Thackeray”, based on the life of Shiv Sena founder isn’t worried about competing with Kangana Ranaut’s “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi” and Emraan Hashmi-starrer “Cheat India”. He says if a film is good, it will work.
All the three movies will hit the screens on January 25, 2019.
Asked if Panse would like to change the release date of “Thackeray” — based on Bal Thackeray’s life — he told IANS in a telephonic interview: “We have already announced the date. We won’t change it. We were thinking of releasing it on January 23, which is Thackeray Sir’s birth anniversary date but later we thought of releasing it on 25th,” he said.
“As far as other films are concerned, every year, more than 52 films are made. So, every Friday, either one or two or three films release. The public knows everything and will see ‘Manikarnika…’ as well as ‘Cheat India’. If the film is good, it will work. As a director, I want all the films to work,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bala Lokare, secretary of Chitrapat Sena, posted on Facebook that since “Thackeray” will be arriving on January 25, they will not let any other film release on the same day.
The film, which features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the Shiv Sena supremo, has been talk of the town since its trailer launch on Wednesday. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly raised objections to the trailer, hours before its launch.
In fact, south Indian actor Siddharth even tweeted: “Nawazuddin has repeated ‘Uthao lungi bajao pungi’ (lift the lungi and *’#$) in the film. Clearly hate speech against South Indians… In a film glorifying the person who said it! Are you planning to make money out of this propaganda? Stop selling hate! Scary stuff!”
Talking about the dialogue, Panse said: “In the Marathi trailer, there was a sentence — ‘Uthao lungi, bajao pungi’. It was Balasaheb’s slogan. It is history. He had said it. Even in his magazine, there were cartoons on south Indians. The censor board should understand that we have made a film keeping the character in mind and not the controversy. Balasaheb was a controversial personality. The screening (for CBFC) is going to happen on January 2. Let’s see.”
But he is not open to making changes in the film.
“Of course we will stick to that (what we have made). It’s history. It’s all on YouTube and other platforms. Everyone knows Balasaheb’s speeches. He used to talk in front of lakhs of people. It’s not like we have made new statements. It was his personality. So, we have to portray that,” said the director.
The film will focus on the political leader’s “struggles and fights”. He said “Shiv Sena was not built in a day. The film is about how a common man became a superman”.
As a filmmaker, he feels that it is important to present the story to the audience.
“It is an inspiring story. The Marathi (version of the) film is tax free,” he said adding that he would discuss with his team about seeking tax-free status elsewhere too.

Police personnel will be deployed around MG Road and Brigade Road, where the crowds gather to usher in the new year.

“CCTV cameras and drone cameras would be used to observe any suspicious activity, movement of people and big screens have been installed around sensitive areas to watch the crowd. To prevent untoward incidents, special teams will patrol on bikes. Special attention will be paid to ensure the safety of women revellers as well as minors who visit MG Road and surrounding areas,” said Suneel Kumar.
The police will also monitor drivers from private taxi services when they pick up and drop women passengers during the night.

Ahwaan Kumar loves being part of Kaal Bhairav Rahasya 2. So, Kashinath, I & the other people go and search for him in the jungle. As it is night time, we take fire torches & search around for Veer. Suddenly, we see Laali’s spirit & everyone runs away except me. So, when the person beside me was running, his fire torch slipped from his hand & that somehow touched my hair & it got burnt. But luckily, I managed to put the fire off,” says the actor. However, he is making sure to give his hair extra attention after the incident. “I am one of those people who really take care of their hair. Mohammad Nazim Says That These Days No One Typecasts An Actor
Mohammad Nazim, who was seen as the negative lead in the show Udaan, says that he loved being part of the show. The actor adds that he loved his character & the feedback was amazing as well. “It is a very good experience as it was my 1st ever time of playing a negative lead. It was a very good character & I tried my best to do justice to it. Now, I am also getting a good response from the audience as well,” he says. Ask him if he found playing a negative character challenging, and he says, “It was a very challenging role as I am a Punjabi & the character has a typical Bihari accent. It was a tough task to learn this accent as I have never spoken in Bihari. I did a lot of preparations to learn this accent. I think the most challenging role is a negative one. For this, I changed my driver to one who speaks in Bihari so that most of the time I could converse with him in Bihari & could understand the language & accent. You have to work more on your expression & your body language too to prepare for a negative role.” Contrary to what many may feel, Nazim doesn’t think people typecast you anymore. “I think there is no such thing as being typecast. It totally depends on your skills & your talent and how you play a character. For example, Shahrukh has done varied negative roles say in Baazigar, Don etc. It doesn’t mean that he was typecast for doing such roles and he will not get any positive roles. I think you never get typecast, it all depends on your acting skills & talent,” he says. Mohammed Nazim has a few dream roles in mind. “I would like to do historical shows like Karn Sangini, Dastaan – E – Mohabbat Salim Anarkali,” he says, adding, “I would love to do that type of shows if I get a chance as the audience will be able to see a different side of me. I think that physique doesn’t matter. All that matters is your talent, skills & hard work.” Talking about physique, the actor is a fitness enthusiast & even plans to open a gym in his hometown soon. “I will open a gym by 2020. I think going to the gym will spread a good message of living a healthy life. If somebody becomes Mr. Punjab or achieve any title, then the gym would be free of cost to them. The main aim is to achieve awareness about fitness in my hometown Markotla,” he says.
Babri Masjid Action Committee to approach SC if Ram temple ordinance passed
LThe Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) has decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court in case the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre brings in an ordinance paving way for the construction of a grand Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, an office-bearer said on Wednesday.
He said the BMAC took the decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
The move comes ahead of the January 4 hearing by the apex court on the matter.
While right-wing groups and the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) have been pressing for the ordinance, the opposition has been seeking a court verdict on the contentious issue.
One of the 70 persons, who attended the meeting, said it was a routine one and had no specific agenda. Though the possibility of the Modi government bringing in an ordinance or a legislation on the temple issue was discussed.
Convenor of the BMAC Zafaryab Jilani said the committee would also urge the Supreme Court to not rush through the matter and pronounce a verdict only after going through all aspects and studying all relevant papers and documents.
The BMAC members were also of the view that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) electoral defeats in three states, the whipping up of passion on the temple issue and the pro-temple statements by senior BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, could not be taken in isolation or lightly.
