India logs 24,354 new COVID-19 cases, 234 fresh fatalities

New Delhi: India logged 24,354 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 3,37,91,061, while the active cases declined to 2,73,889, according to the Union health ministry’s data updated on Saturday.

The death toll climbed to 4,48,573 with 234 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The active cases comprise 0.81 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.86 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

A decrease of 1,335 Covid cases has been recorded in the total number of active cases in a span of 24 hours.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.

589 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka logged 589 new COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths on Friday, taking the total number of infections to 29,76,589 and the toll to 37,807.

The day also saw 887 discharges, taking the total number of recoveries in the state so far to 29,26,284.

Out of 589 new cases reported on Friday, 221 were from Bengaluru Urban, as the city saw 212 discharges and five deaths.

The total number of active cases in the state was 12,469.

While the positivity rate for the day stood at 0.46 per cent, the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 2.20 per cent. Bengaluru Urban reported most number of deaths (5), Dakshina Kannada (2), followed by others.

Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Bengaluru Urban accounted for 221, Dakshina Kannada 86, Hassan 39, Mysuru 37, Kodagu 34, followed by others.

Bengaluru Urban district topped the list of positive cases, with a total of 12,46,651, followed by Mysuru 1,78,018 and Tumakuru 1,20,237.

Among discharges too, Bengaluru Urban was on top with 12,22,863, followed by Mysuru 1,74,999 and Tumakuru 1,18,780.

Cumulatively a total of 4,77,45,951 samples have been tested in the state so far, out of which 1,26,932 were on Friday alone.

India reports 26,727 new COVID-19 infections cases lowest in 196 days

NEW DELHI: India logged 26,727 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,37,66,707, while the active cases declined to 2,75,224, the lowest in 196 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 4,48,339 with 277 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

A decrease of 1,796 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

As many as 15,20,899 tests were conducted on Thursday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 57,04,77,338.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.76 per cent.

It has been less than three per cent for last 32 days.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.70 per cent.

It has been below three per cent for the last 98 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,30,43,144, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 89 crore.

A total of 4,48,339 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,39,067 from Maharashtra,37,794 from Karnataka, 35,578 from Tamil Nadu, 25,087 each from Delhi and Kerala, 22,892 from Uttar Pradesh, and 18,793 from West Bengal.

The ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.

COVID-19 Update India logs 29,616 new cases, 290 fatalities recovery rate at 97.78 per cent

NEW DELHI: India logged 29,616 new coronavirus infections, taking the total tally of cases to 3,36,24,419, while the active cases rose by 1,280 to reach 3,01,442, according to Union Health Ministry data updated Saturday.

The death toll climbed to 4,46,658 with 290 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The active cases now constitute 0.90 per cent of the total infections, while the nationwide COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.78 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

An increase of 1,280 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours, it said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.86 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 1.99 per cent.

The latter has been below 3 per cent for the last 92 days, it said.

India adds 31,923 new COVID infections to tally active cases lowest in 187 days

NEW DELHI: India added 31,923 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,35,63,421, while the active cases declined to 3,01,640, the lowest in 187 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The death toll climbed to 4,46,050 with 282 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The active cases comprise 0.90 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.77 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

As many as 15,27,443 tests were conducted on Wednesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 55,83,67,013.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.09 per cent.

783 new COVID-19 cases, 16 deaths in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka on Sunday clocked 783 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the caseload to 29.67 lakh, while 16 deaths pushed the toll to 37,603.

The day also saw 1,139 people being discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 29.15 lakh. Active cases stood at 15,383, a health department bulletin said.

Bengaluru Urban accounted for the maximum number of 267 cases and seven fatalities, it said.

Dakshina Kannada district bordering Kerala remained a major COVID-19 hotspot with 97 fresh infections and one death.

Other districts too reported fresh cases with Udupi logging 82, followed by Mysuru (69), Kodagu (41), Chikkamagaluru (36) and Hassan (34).

Bagalakote, Koppal, Raichur, Ramanagara and Yadgir reported zero infections and zero deaths.

Twenty-five districts reported zero fatalities, the bulletin said.

A total of 1,29,874 samples were tested in the state on Sunday, taking the cumulative number of specimens examined so far to 4.63 crore.

The number of vaccinations done so far in the state rose to 5.20 crore, with 58,509 people being inoculated on Sunday, it said.

New Delhi: India saw a single day rise of 27,176 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally to 3,33,16,755, while the death toll climbed to 4,43,497 with 284 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

Less than 50,000 daily cases have been reported for 80 consecutive days now.

The active cases have declined to 3,51,087 and comprise 1.05 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.62 per cent, the ministry said.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 3,51,087, says Union Health Ministry

NEW DELHI: Daily new cases of coronavirus in India continued to remained below 30,000 with the country recording 27,176 fresh COVID-19 cases, while 284 new fatalities were recorded, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The active cases declined to 3,51,087 comprising 1.05 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.62 per cent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 11,120 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

As many as 16,10,829 tests were conducted on Tuesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 54,60,55,796.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.69 per cent.

It has been less than three per cent for last 16 days The weekly positivity rate was recorded at two per cent.

It has been below three per cent for the last 82 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,25,22,171, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive has reached 75.89 crore according to the ministry.

The ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.

Covid-19 Update: India records 27,254 Covid cases, 219 deaths in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India saw a single-day rise of 27,254 new COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally in the country to 3,32,64,175, while the count of active cases declined to 3,74,269, according to Union Health Ministry data on Monday.

The tally of active cases has declined to 3,74,269, which comprises 1.13 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.54 per cent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 10,652 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

Also, 12,08,247 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the country on Sunday, taking the total of such examinations to 54,30,14,076.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.26 per cent.

This has been below three per cent for the last 14 days.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.11 per cent.

The figure has been below three per cent for the last 80 days, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,24,47,032, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 per cent.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive has reached 74.38 crore, according to the ministry.

New Delhi (PTI): India logged 34,973 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,31,74,954, while the active cases declined to 3,90,646, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 4,42,009 with 260 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The active cases comprise 1.18 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.49 per cent, the ministry said.
