Kumaraswamy slams Siddaramaiah for accusing Oppn of targeting his wife in MUDA case

October 7, 2024 by Nasheman

Bengaluru : JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday hit out at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for accusing the opposition of dragging his wife in the MUDA case and blamed the latter’s ‘wrongs’ for the woes.

The Union Minister also challenged Siddaramaiah for a debate on the Congress government’s achievements and developmental activities so far.

“Time and again you (Siddaramaiah) say the opposition is jealous and you are accusing the opposition of dragging your wife (into the MUDA case). You have brought your wife, who was respectfully at home, out (in this case). It is not done by us, the opposition. You have brought her out because of wrongs you have committed (in her name),” Kumaraswamy said.

Addressing reporters here, he said, “repeatedly you (Siddaramaiah) speak about AHINDA, what have you done for AHINDA (Kannada acronym for minorities, backward classes and Dalits)? Haven’t we seen what has happened in Valmiki Corporation (scam), the loot that has happened.”

Pointing to CM’s emotional appeal to people if they would forgive the opposition for targeting his wife over the MUDA ‘scam’, Kumaraswamy said, “Whether people will forgive or accept us, they will decide later. Let him ask the people what they will do to him (Siddaramaiah) for this kind of governance…”

Siddaramaiah had on Saturday come down heavily on the opposition BJP and the JD(S) for dragging his wife Parvathi B M in the MUDA case, who had never stepped into public life and was confined to her house.

He also charged the opposition with targeting him because they could not tolerate a person from a backward community in the Chief Minister’s post.

Siddaramaiah is facing the Lokayukta and ED probes into alleged irregularities in allotment of 14 sites to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

His wife Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, Devaraju — from whom Mallikarjuna Swamy purchased land and gifted it to Parvathi — and others are named as other accused in the case.

Alleging that the Congress government is entangled in scams, Kumaraswamy said, “No ministers including the Chief Minister have any concern for the troubles faced by the people… they speak about development, only god should save us.”

He challenged Siddaramaiah for a discussion on achievements and development work of the current Congress government led by him, with that of his (Kumaraswamy) 14 months JD(S)-Congress coalition government in 2018-19.

Claiming that he had to function as CM without proper cooperation from the Congress during the coalition government, Kumaraswamy said, “JD(S) had only 38 MLAs then… what all you (Siddaramaiah/Congress) did then? Today you are saying Kumaraswamy didn’t work for 14 months.”

Citing rain-related issues reported in the last couple of days in parts of the city, Kumaraswamy said, “A deadline was set to fill potholes… we are seeing the quality of the work that was done, following this rains.”

Not only in Bengaluru, in several parts of the state the post monsoon rains are more than expected, leading to damage of crops and people facing trouble, he said, while accusing the government of ‘failing’ to address the issues

India Today Exit Poll animation shows Rahul Gandhi wrestling Nadda: Netizens react to Modi’s absence

October 7, 2024 by Nasheman

New Delhi: An animated video by India Today depicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrestling BJP National President JP Nadda as the exit polls projected a clear lead for the Congress in Haryana. The video sparked numerous reactions on social media, with many highlighting that PM Modi is often not presented as the BJP’s face when the party appears to be losing elections.

Several users pointed out how JP Nadda becomes the focus during election setbacks, while PM Modi is prominently featured during the party’s victories. The reactions ranged from sympathy for Nadda to sarcastic commentary.

Congress leader Pawan Khera tweeted, “अगले जन्म में मोहे नड्डा ना कीजे….,” implying that Nadda’s position is unenviable, especially during election losses.

Will campaign for BJP if free power supplied in NDA-ruled states: Arvind Kejriwal

October 7, 2024 by Nasheman

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide free electricity in the NDA-ruled states before the Delhi Assembly elections, promising to campaign for the saffron party if he fulfills this demand.

Addressing a public gathering at ‘Janta Ki Adalat’, Kejriwal accused the BJP’s “double engine” governments of failing across the states, predicting their ouster from Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

He termed the “double engine” model as “double loot and double corruption”.

“I challenge PM Modi to provide free electricity in all 22 BJP-ruled states before the Delhi Assembly elections in February. If he does, I will campaign for the BJP,” Kejriwal asserted.

“The exit polls show the BJP’s double engine governments will soon collapse in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Kejriwal further accused the BJP of being anti-poor, citing the removal of bus marshals and data entry operators as well as the halting of home guards’ salaries in Delhi.

“There is no democracy in Delhi. It’s under the LG’s rule,” he alleged.

The ground floor of the structure was used as a shop and the upper floor as residence, an official said.

The blaze was confined to the electric wiring and installations in the shop at the ground floor and spread to the upper floor, he said, adding it was a ‘level-one’ fire.

Seven persons were injured in the incident. They were taken to the Rajawadi Hospital where all of them were declared brought dead, the official said.

Zomato CEO Says Mall stopped him from using main entrance, elevator while making food deliveries
New Delhi: Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal on Sunday said malls need to be “more humane” towards delivery partners, sharing his first-hand experience as a delivery executive picking up orders for the food tech giant.

The Zomato CEO and his wife Grecia Munoz, who changed her name to Gia Goyal on Instagram, earlier took on the role of delivery partners to deliver orders in Gurugram and get a first-hand experience of challenges faced by them.

Sharing his experience in a social media post, Goyal said: “During my second order, I realised that we need to work with malls more closely to improve working conditions for all delivery partners. And malls also need to be more humane to delivery partners. What do you think?” The Zomato CEO tagged a video with the post elaborating upon the experience.

“We reached Ambience Mall in Gurugram to pick up the order from Haldiram’s. Was told to take the other entrance, and realised they are asking me to take the stairs. Went in again on the main entrance to make sure there are aren’t any elevators for delivery partners”.

Goyal further said that he took the stairs to the third floor to realise that delivery partners cannot enter the mall and have to wait at the stairs to receive orders.

“Chilled with my fellow delivery partners while also getting valuable feedback from them,” the Zomato CEO said, adding that he was finally able to sneak in to collect the order when the staircase guard “took a small break”.
