Bengaluru, Mar 23 : With the campaign for Lok Sabha election is picking up in Karnataka, an incident of pelting stone on the house of Kannada cine star Darshan, supporting Independent candidate in hotly contested Mandya segment, was reported today.
Sources said Darshan’s house was stoned by some miscreants in the city when he was not home, on Saturday.
Kannada cine actors Darshan and Yash are backing independent candidate Sumalata, wife of former union minister late Ambareesh, in a challegnge to JD(S) official candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.
According to police sources, a complaint of stone throwing by some unknown miscreants on the house of actor Darshan was received and a case has been registered and FIR filed.
During the incident a high end car parked inside the compound belonging to the cinema actor was damaged.
The ‘political attack’ comes in the wake after Darshan, had openly extended his support to Ms Sumalatha, the wife of Ambharish who had announced to contest as an independent candidate, against Nikhil Kumarasawmy, the son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in the sugar belt of Karnataka.
The Rajarajeshwari Nagar Police visited the Actor’s house and investigating into the incident, police said.
