The Southeast cyber crime division police arrested a conman who cheated as many as 26 unemployed women promising job in HESCOM.
The accused native of Raichur, working as lineman for 8 months in 2013.The job he was given on humanitarian basis after his father working in the company died on duty.
The accused was arrested for murdering a 23 year old sunitha from Muddebihala village and jailed. After serving two years in jail the accused came out on bail.
In order to earn quick money the accused uploaded fake profile on matrimonial sites as section officer of HESCOM in Hubli and lured as many as 26 women so far in Shimoga, Haveri, Mysuru, Dharwad, Hubli, Yadgir and Raichur promising to get them jobs and taken money.
The accused cheated Rs 21.3 lakh so far and spent the money lavishly in Goa,Pondicherry and Mumbai.
Based on the complaint,a team of police led by ACP, Sudhir Hegde,track down the accused and recovered expensive mobile phone,a car and cash Rs.1.6 lakh from various bank accounts.
The police warned people to be careful while dealing with people social media.With his arrest the police managed to prevent many other people from getting cheated said a senior officer.
