Custodial death case,PSI Suspended,Case to be probe by CID:Kamal Pant
A day after custodial death of a 63-year-old conman,sub inspector,Manjunath Kattimani of Hanumanthanagar police station has been suspended for dereliction of duty and an departmental enquiry has been initiated against four other staff who were at the spot for their negligence.
Speaking to reporters at Jansampark divas in Viveknagar, Commissioner of police Kamal Pant said,that sub inspector,D Manjunath has been suspended as he was in charge for the case and he was heading the team when Siddalingaswamy was taken for spot mahazar.
Meanwhile an departmental enquiry has been initiated against Head Constables Ravi Kumar and Mrutyunjaya and constable Umesh , following which necessary action will be initiated against them.
The four police personnel had escorted Siddalingaswamy to his house on Friday to recover document pertaining to the case.
Despite their presence,the accused reportedly pushed them out of kitchen and jumped through an open window situated on third floor of the building.He crashed on the scooter parked outside the building and died due to severe head injuries.
The police rushed out and shifted the profusely bleeding Siddalingaswamy in a car to a near by hospital where the doctor declared him as brought dead.
The incident captured on the CCTV installed in the building.
Since the incident amounts to custodial death, the case has been handed over to CID and judicial magistrate will investigate the case and further action will be taken based on the report Kamal Pant said to media persons.
Meanwhile Swamy’s wife Devamani has a filed a case of unnatural death has been registered and the case will be handed over to CID.Devamani stated in her complaint that she was shocked to see her husband ran inside the kitchen and jumped from the balcony to end his life.
The officer further said that Swamy was arrested by Hanumanthnagar police on February 24 and during the interrogation he revealed two of his friends names who are also involved in cheating case and efforts are on to nab them he added.
