Officials of the DRI on Saturday nabbed a 50-year-old man from Mumbai and recovered 2348 carat of lab grown diamonds and Ruby stones along with foreign currency total worth Rs.73 lakh from him.
The accused was caught minutes before he was boarding flight to bangkok from Bengaluru airport.
The accused was hiding the items in hand baggage which was seized during the intelligence developed by officials .
The accused claimed to be on his own trying to take the items to bangkok as tourist and sell it in international market to make money..
The accused passenger was taken into custody to ascertain the source of the items and also to verify whether he was part of any network.
