Inter-State Ganja trafficking network busted,Eight Notorious Peddlers arrested,681.8 Kg Ganja Seized by NCB:
NCB busts yet another Ganja trafficking network arrested eight persons and seized a total of 681.8 kg of marijuana from them.
Eight accused were arrested during the seizure namely S.Pawar,V.Pawar,B.Ware,M.Dhotre,D. Deshmukh,R.Gunjal,A.Gandhi and S.Sanap.
Based on a tip off from Bangalore NCB unit,a team of NCB officials intercepted Swift Dzire car,one Honda City car and one Bolero Pick up near Pedda Amberpet Toll Plaza,near Rangareddy District,Telangana and during search the team found huge haul of drugs and seized 681.8 Kgs of Ganja.
The consignment was concealed in compressed form,kept in 335 brick like packets and wrapped with brown colour adhesive tapes.
This is a common modus operandi of Ganja trafficking sourced from Andhra-Odisha border.
During investigation it was revealed that the syndicate used to source ganja in huge quantity from Vishakhapatnam and distribute in various parts of Pune district and Osmanabad district of Maharashtra,Amit Ghawate,(Zonal Director,Bangalore),said.
According to Mr.Ghawate,Illegal Ganja Cultivation in India is largely concentrated around the naxal Infected Andhra-Odisha border areas.
Ganja from this region find its way to all over the country including Delhi,Mumbai,Maharashtra, Rajasthan,Tamilnadu,Kerala,West Bengal and is smuggled across the ocean to Sri Lanka,he said.
Difficult Terrain and inaccessibility make this area difficult for the law enforcement agencies to conduct destruction of illicit Ganja cultivation.
One of the other major Ganja cultivating region in India is the hilly terrains of Himachal Pradesh. North Eastern states of India are also vulnerable to Ganja cultivation due to its unique Geographical conditions.
Finally NCB acknowledges the role of Shri Amit Ghawate,(Zonal Director,Bangalore)and other team members of NCB Hyderabad Sub Zonal Unit and NCB Bangalore Zonal Unit with their concerted efforts in intelligence gathering and enforcement by NCB have so far had a telling effect on the seizure of Ganja sourced from Andhra-Odisha border areas he added.
