Anuja Sinha, a crooner par excellence, holds her own fort amongst the rooster of the other Bollywood crooners. Not only this she has also bagged the National as well as International awards galore and her special forte is that she sets the stage on fire, the moment she steps on it with the mike in her hand to belt out hit numbers which in turn mesmerizes the music lovers.
Give us a brief insight into your musical background!
My mother tells me that I had started singing as a tiny tot, to be precise at the age of 3. To set the record straight I had picked up a trained musical skills from my mother Sarojini Sinha, besides Prabhakar & Praveen (Vocals) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad. Then I acquired my MA degree in music from Delhi University. That apart I also acquired a special training from Ustaad Iqbaal Ahmed Khan of Delhi Gharana.
When & how did your Bollywood singing career begin?
I began singing for commercial ads of varied reputed products for television, radio jingles & many musical albums. Then I began my Bollywood crooning phase by singing an item number for the upcoming movie 30 Minutes, a number which was later on picturised on Riya Sen. Then I also sang a song for Ashmit Patel’s Punjabi film Dil Sada Luttiyageya. Besides Dear Vs Bear, Madhoshiyaan & Maangrekha and above all many regional movies too.
Name some of the most prestigious awards that you have bagged in your musical career!
The most notable awards that I bagged in my musical career are as follows: Best Female Singer for some of my regional films, Master Madan Award from Jaipur, Sangeet Naatak Academy award from Lucknow, All India Music Award from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Sakha Award for all my musical achievements and above all 100’s of appreciation from varied leading organizations. The list is endless.
You have created a lot of ripples of waves in the small screen arena too. Comment!
Yes I have been fortunate enough in the small screen arena too. So I ended up doing lots of programmes like Subah Savera for DD1, Jai Maa Vindhya Vasini for Big Magic, Little Stars for DD Bharti, Bhail Bihan for Mahua, Shaam – E – Ghazal for Zee Salaam, Close Up Antaksahri for Zee TV, Om Shanti for DD Urdu, Honhaar for Total TV and above all I have sung scores of title songs for leading small screen serials.
In how many languages have you sung songs till this date?
Till this date I have sung songs in Hindi, Rajasthani, Maithili, Haryanvi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bengali and many more. And I have also been actively involved with music companies like HMV, T – Series, Venus, Tips, Music Today, Times Music Waves et al.
As a parting shot tell us which are some of the memorable stage shows you have done?
I have done stage shows on the Indian soil as well as on most of the Global Circuit. Some of the most memorable stage shows on the Indian soil are festivals in Lucknow, Allora, Autumn, Triveni, Mahoba, Rajgir, Vaishali & Rose festivals and 1000’s of other stage shows both in India & Abroad.
