Bengaluru: The JD(S) national executive meet organised on Friday to chalk out strategies to strengthen the party base for the upcoming assembly polls was attended by 350 members from across various parts of the country, especially from Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, and Goa.
While former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy continue to be national president and state president respectively, party veteran Basavaraj Horatti, who also happens to be a powerful Lingayat leader was given the post of working president. Horatti also has been given place in the core committee of the party.
B M Farooq has been made the chief general secretary of the party.
Kumaraswamy has announced waiver of farmer loans within 24 hours if JD(S) was voted to power in the Assembly polls in 2018.
