Kamal Hasan, multilingual film star turned politician today met HD Kumaraswamy,JDS-Congress alliance government Chief Minister and requested the latter to release Cauvery river water to save the standing Kurvai paddy crops in Tamil Nadu.
The filmmaker after his meeting with the chief minister claimed in a joint media interaction along with the CM: We both of us from the adjoining states need to live like brothers.I have come here not as any representative of the state government but as a representative of the people…
…Not only that I have come here to request the chief minister to release Cauvery water in order to save the standing paddy crops in Tamil Nadu. Cauvery is much important than films,he remarked.
Cauvery has been there much before we were born yet we have continued to fight over the same till date. Farmers of both the states should resolve this issue and approaching court should have been the last resort,he told.
The matter is already before the court but we can still give a try to resolve the issue amicably outside the purview of the court, told Kamal Hasan.
HD Kumaraswamy informed: Farmers of both the states should co-exist and we should find alternatives to find an amicable solution.
