Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress today marked the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement with a rally from Freedom Park to Town Hall in the city.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president G. Parameshwara, working president Dinesh Gundu Rao, and party legislators wore white and participated in the rally that commenced at 10 a.m.
The police took adequate security measures in and around Freedom Park. The Halasooru traffic police were roped in to ensure smooth traffic on the route, said M.N. Anucheth, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West). KPCC vice-president L. Hanumanthaiah said over 5,000 party workers took part and held placards with photographs of freedom fighters Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Sarojini Naidu, C. Rajagopalachari, and Maulana Abdul Kalam.
