Mangaluru: City Police on Saturday arrested two people in connection with objectionable graffiti writings on walls case. Pro-terrorist writings were found in two different places in the city last month.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Shariq (32) and Maaz Muneer Ahmed (22), both residents of Thirtahalli in Shimoga district. Police on Saturday added that Shariq was working at his father’s clothes shop at his native while Maaz is a third-year engineering student at a private college in Mangaluru.
In a press conference held at the Police Commissioner’s office after the arrest of the accused, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar added that the writings were a publicity stunt by the two accused and that no links of the accused were found with any organisations so far.
The police, Vikas said will seek police custody of the accused to further investigate the case.
Vikas Kumar also lauded the several police teams that worked to crack the case. He congratulated the teams led by DCP Vinay Gaonkar and other police officials that cracked the case and arrested the accused.
On being asked if there were more people involved with the accused, Vikas said that will be revealed during the further course of investigations.
