Movie Review: ‘Do Lafzon Ki Kahani’ is one romantic love story that has gone for a complete toss

Do Lafzon Ki Kahani

Director: Deepak Tijori
Star Cast: Randeep Hooda & Kajal Aggarwal,
Music: Babli Haque, Ankit Tiwari, Arjuna Harjai & Amaal Mallik

Actor turned director Deepak Tijori in his latest offering Do Lafzon Ki Kahani is as directionless as his own lack of directional skills in his entire directorial career. Need I say anything more.

The disjointed & absolutely predictable scripted scenario of Do Lafzon Ki Kahani is all about a former martial arts expert Sooraj (Randeep Hooda) who lives a tough life, doing odd jobs but a haunting nightmare doesn’t allow him to live peacefully. As he continues to live his monotonous way of life, he meets the lively but blind Jenny Mathias (Kajal Aggarwal) and her innocence woos Sooraj who dreams of starting life afresh. As love blossoms between the two, Sooraj decides to resume his life as a boxer which he had once left behind due to a past that led him to a jail sentence. Sooraj has a dark past that goes back 3 years ago when he, the renowned boxer Storm, loses a match to save the life of a cancer patient only to realize that he has been tricked into it. This unleashes the beast in him as he turns into a recovery agent who blatantly uses force against the defaulters. However, Sooraj witnesses one of his victims committing suicide that also leads to a road accident of a passing by car and due to this guilt & trauma not only does he surrender but later, he resumes a simple way of life. But dreaming of earning a new livelihood with Jenny, he decides to give life yet another chance. However, as fate would have it, Sooraj discovers that Jenny’s lost eyesight is the consequence of the road accident that he witnesses when his victim commits suicide by jumping off a building and now Sooraj has only one aim in life, to give Jenny her eyesight back. He is ready to go to any lengths for it, even if it means losing a match & losing his life too.

Director Deepak Tijori, as said before, has created a mindless mistake of directing this bland love story Do Lafzon Ki Kahani. The main fault is Girish Dhamija’s clichéd, pointless & predictable script. Besides the entire film is so slow that it bores you to yawning death. Another fault is of editor Ballu Saluja whose editorial scissors seems to be completely rusted and does nothing to save the fate of the film. To some extent only the music by Babli Haque, Ankit Tiwari, Arjuna Harjai & Amaal Malik, cinematography by Mohana Krishna & MMA action scenes holds the cine goer’s interest.

Performance wise both Randeep Hooda & Kajal Aggarwal have delivered a very lacklustre act, in fact they both seem to have sleep walked throughout the entire film. While the entire supporting cast of the film does not deserve a mention at all.

Tail Piece: Do Lafzon Ki Kahani may deserve a special mention as the most forgettable film in the history of Indian cinema.
