One held,CCB police unearth illegal telephone exchange racket in Bengaluru:
The Central Crime Branch,CCB officials on Monday busted illegal telephone exchange and arrested 33 year old man from Kerala,operating the racket from a rented house in Chikkabanavara under Soladevanahalli police station limits.
The accused has been identified as,Ashraf Unichiravittal,37,year old from Calicut in Kerala.
Sandeep Patil,Joint commissioner of police Crime,told media persons,we received a tip off about some person in Chikkabanavara area who is a tea vendor has set up illegal telephone exchange type at his house.
Based on a tip off,ACP,BR Venugopal,and PI,Bharath pressed into action and raided the house and during raid the team found a electronic devise,Sim boxes and several SIM cards from him.
During investigation the accused has been identified as,Ashraf Unichiravittal from Calicut was Tea vendor on roadside in Chikkabanavara but he was technically expertise to set up illegal telephone exchange to convert international calls into local calls using the SIM cards.
The team grilled him and the accused spilled the beans and said,He would buy several SIM cards and used electronic devise to bypass routers and cheat telecom companies.
He is operating illegal exchange for many months.Many people have benifited by paying meagre amount to use international calls.
We also suspect that many people could have used this service for anti social activities.A case has been registered in soladevanahalli police station and considering the importance,the case has been handed over to cyber crime police for a detailed probe in the case.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Crime,Sandeep Patil,DCP Crime-1,KP Ravikumar,ACP,BR Venugopal,PI,Bharath and other staff who has done a exemplary and commendable job and unearthed illegal telephone exchange racket where in accused illegally got international calls converted as local calls using unauthorised Simboxes such rackets used to commit more serious offences further investigation on by cyber crime police and a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
