Srinagar, May 24 : The 15-day Ramzan Festival, which started earlier this week, has been suspended till Monday due to inclement weather conditions, an official Spokesperson said here on Friday.
Organised by the State Department of Industries and Commerce, in collaboration with the State Department of Culture, the festival aims to relive the spirit of festivity of this holy month, he added.
However, sources said that the festival was suspended, following tense situation in the valley in view of the death of chief of Ansar Gazwatul Hind Zakir Musa in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, curfew was clamped in this summer capital, while restrictions were imposed in other parts of Kashmir valley, as a precautionary measure on Friday.
Musa was killed in a 12-hour-long encounter with security forces at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, triggering spontaneous protests and clashes across the valley, including in many areas of Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag and Awantipora.
