SAMIT KAKKAD’S HALF TICKET BAGS THE COVETED ‘ECUMENICAL JURY AWARD
At the 57th Zlin International film festival, one of the largest children’s film festivals worldwide, Samit Kakkad’s Half Ticket has won the much coveted ”Ecumenical Jury Award” The film produced by Video Palace and starring Priyanka Bose (Lion) & Bhalachandra Kadam (Sanggto Aika & Timepass) in addition to the 2 lead young actors (Shubham More & Vinayak Potdar) was part of the official selection at this film festival held in Czech Republic. Kakkad said, “It means the world to me and only bolsters my confidence that good Indian cinema is being appreciated. To even imagine that this is an award people I look up to have received, races my heart. I can only wish that this paves the way for more Indian films internationally and hope that larger audiences are able to enjoy not just mine, but my contemporaries films as well” The coveted award is given at leading film festivals globally since 1973 with the aim of “honoring the works of artistic quality which witnesses to the power of film to reveal the mysterious depths of human beings through what concerns them, their hurts & failings as well as their hopes.’ It has been bestowed on international filmmakers such as Andrei Tarkovsky, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Samira Makhmalbaf, Asghar Farhadi, Fatih Akin & Pedro Almodovar amongst others. Among the only few Indian filmmakers to win this coveted international award have been Mira Nair (1988), Awtar Kaul (1974) & Rabindra Dharmaraj (1981).
NAKASH AZIZ SINGS THE MARATHI ANTHEM FOR SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS
Nakash Aziz who is known for lending his powerful voice for the songs like “Jabra Fan” from Fan, “Saree Ke Fall Sa” & “Gandi Baat” from R…Rajkumar, “Cutie Pie” from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, “Ye Jawaani Teri” from Meri Pyaari Bindu has sung a Marathi track for Sachin : A Billion Dreams for A. R. Rahman. Sukhwinder Singh has sung it in Hindi. Interestingly, Nakash had re – recorded this Marathi song in Bali as legendary composer A. R. Rahman wanted to record few portions of it again. Nakash says, “I had recorded the song a few days prior to my Bali trip but Rahman sir wanted to re – record a few portions and that too immediately. I searched a lot and finally found a studio there and I recorded it again. I feel lucky to be associated with this film as I am a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar and to be a voice of A. R. Rahman’s composition was a cherry on the cake.” Earlier Nakash has composed music for Marathi film No Entry – Pudhe Dhoka Ahey. After making a mark in the music industry in South, Nakash is now all set to wow the Marathi & Gujarati audiences. Nakash Aziz has also received great appreciation for his song “Aai jyo” from the recently released Gujarati film Karsandas Pay & Use.

Hrithik Roshan who will make his debut in Marathi film industry with Vikram Phadnis’ debut film Hrudayanthar, launched the trailer of the emotional drama. The actor who has also tweeted its release date on his social media, agreed to grace the trailer launch at a suburban multiplex recently. Hrithik Roshan says, “I wouldn’t have considered deviating from what I was doing in my life at the point in time when Vikram approached me.
