The West Division police of Annapoorneshwari Nagar police arrested a security guard from Nepal who had burgled the house of a central government employee situated in Mallathalli and made away with Rs 11 lakh cash and gold valuables on October this year.
The accused has been identified as,Bheem Bahadur Thapa a security guard turned burglar a native of Nepal.
Senior officer, told media persons,a complainant Shobha Ananda Bhaktan,a central government employee and her husband had gone to airport to pick up their children on October 8,the couple did not lock the main door and left in a hurry.
The theft came to light when the family returned home and found someone has entered the house and ransacked and fled away with cash of Rs.2.5 lakhs and gold ornaments worth Rs.11 lakhs and later filed a complaint in Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station in this regard.
Based on the complaint,a special crime squad of ACP,Kengerigate sub-division headed by ACP, T Kodandarama swung into action and visited the crime spot and after inspecting the spot and collecting details the team started analysing using technology skill the team identified the identity of the accused.
After getting identity of the accused the team circulated to all the police stations and with the help of neighbouring stations and technical support the team zeroed in one person identified as Bheem Bahadur Thapa.
The team during questioning led the accused to confessed the crime and he revealed that he,Bheem Bahadur Thapa,work as security guard in HSR Layout on day time and move around the area in night time to identify the locked house at night,noticed this and gained entry ransacked the house and made away with Rs.2.5 lakh cash and gold valuables total worth Rs.11 lakh.
A detailed investigation by the team the accused spilled the beans and revealed that Thapa would move around the house on the pretext of night watchman work and scouting the area and used monitor the locked houses.
Later he would approach the house by knocking the door and pressing call bell to confirm if there is any response from inside,before striking and commit burglary and fled away with booty.
Based on his statement the team recovered 9 lakh rupees worth gold valuables,while further investigations are on to ascertain his criminal background and to recover remaining property from him.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West Soumendhu Mukherjee DCP West Dr Sanjeev M Patil ACP T Kodandarama and his team as special crime squad who has done a exemplary and meticulous investigation in nabbing the notorious burglar security guard turned burglar and a suitable reward will be given to the whole team who has worked tirelessly in nabbing the offender he added.
