New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has rushed to New Delhi to consult the Congress party High Command on Cabinet reshuffle in an effort to quell rebellion in the state unit.
Siddaramaiah is expected to meet Congress party President Sonia Gandhi on Monday evening to discuss the issue. There are three vacancies in the Council of Ministers and Siddaramaiah is expected to drop three from his Cabinet. In all, Siddaramaiah plans to induct 6 ministers and undertake a reshuffle, as his government completed two years in Karnataka.
Internal differences have come to the fore in Karnataka Congress after several legislators complained to party Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Siddaramaiah’s working style. Since then, former Union minister SM Krishna met Sonia Gandhi twice to apprise her of the situation in Karnataka. Consequently, she summoned Siddaramaiah to New Delhi for a possible reshuffle to end the rebellion.
