Zero budget filmmaking is frustrating but also liberating! The idea started with Humaramovie getting 7 renowned directors onboard and asking them to recommend a filmmaker each to make a short film. They will be knitting all the shorts together and premiering it at MAMI as a feature. Mira Nair was kind enough to recommend me. Our short film, AZAAD, has Atul Kulkarni playing the lead along with Sakshi Tanwar & Siddharth Menon. This film is truly a result of collective passion. Every cast & crew member waived off their fee and we’ve all worked towards creating a film that has an honest voice.”
