JD(U), RJD, Congress formally announce alliance for Bihar poll

August 12, 2015 by Nasheman

JDU RJD

Patna: Displaying a picture of unity, JD(U), RJD and Congress today announced formation of a grand secular alliance and seat sharing among the three parties for the coming Bihar elections.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced coming into being of the grand secular alliance and seat sharing among the three parties in presence of RJD President Lalu Prasad and Congress General Secretary and in-charge of Bihar affairs C P Joshi at a joint press conference.

As part of the tie-up, JD(U) and RJD would contest 100 seats each while Congress would fight in 40 seats. In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, the alliance was yet to announce who would contest in the rest three seats.

Nitish Kumar told reporters that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has been with them in the recent election for Legislative Council 24 seats and they would like it to be with them in the Bihar poll. Kumar indicated the three seats would be given to Sharad Pawar’s NCP if they join the combine.

In reply to a question that Samajwadi Party whose leader Mulayam Singh Yadav is heading Janata Parivar, had not got any seat, Prasad answered “he is my Samdhi (relative) and if need be I will accommodate him.”

Kumar said the grand secular alliance would have a Common Minimum Programme and all constituents would hold joint campaign for the crucial state election in September-October. “The first rally of the grand secular alliance would be held in Patna on August 30,” Kumar and Lalu Prasad said.

The RJD President indicated that the decision to fight on 100 seats only was a compromise for a cause.

“Inspite of all difference his party has come to the conclusion that to keep the communal and fascist forces away, it has to move ahead by accommodating others,” Prasad told reporters.

Congress General Secretary and former Union minister C P Joshi said his party has entered the secular alliance as a constituent because it thinks “today Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the biggest threat to the country.”

Asked if Congress President Sonia Gandhi or Vice President Rahul Gandhi would be present during August 30 rally or in future programme of the alliance, Joshi was evasive.

“These are part of strategy which we will let the media know through separate press conference later on,” Joshi accompanied by state Congress President Ashok Choudhary said.

With secular alliance facing several doubtful questions on possibility of return of ‘jungle raj’ (euphemism to describe RJD’s 15 year rule marked by bad law and order), Prasad volunteered to answer majority of the uncomfortable questions all the while taking potshots at BJP.

All the three constituents of the grand secular alliance have scaled down from the number of seats they had contested in last Bihar election in 2010, though not together.

JD(U), which was in alliance with BJP in 2010 poll, had contested on 141 seats and won 115. BJP, which had contested in 102 seats with Nitish Kumar, had cornered 91 seats.

RJD had fielded candidates in 168 seats and managed to win only 22. Congress had gone in the 2010 poll alone and could win only four seats.

In 2014 Parliamentary election, RJD, Congress and NCP had contested together and managed to win seven seats together out of a total of 40 seats. JD(U) which had gone in general election with Left parties was decimated and managed to win only two seats.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi have been reluctant to share dais in the last Parliamentary elections with Lalu Prasad, who has been convicted by a Ranchi CBI Court in a fodder scam case and has been debarred to fight elections.

When grilled by the mediapersons as to why he was not answering whether Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi would share dais with other grand secular alliance leaders, Joshi reiterated that it was part of strategy of the party which would be announced later on.

With flash bulbs popping frequently, Prasad in a bid to silence BJP, said, “today they must have got answer to all the questions they have been posing to show cracks in his coming together with Nitish Kumar in a bid to confuse voters and scare away upper castes from us.”

Taking a potshot at BJP, the RJD President said, “demolition of Babri mosque and Gujarat riots were examples of ‘mangal raj’ and when I gave voice to poor during RJD rule it is dubbed as ‘jungle raj’.”

He said a few “well wishers” of Nitish Kumar also posed to him every now and then about guarantee that ‘jungle raj’ would not return and how we two would remain together. “Those peoples are ‘nadaan’ (innocents). You will see how we will continue to bond together in future,” Prasad said. “BJP is trying to spread doubts about us but they will not succeed. We are together and remain together,” he said.

Nitish to launch new campaign, says 50 lakh people will send DNA samples to Modi

August 10, 2015 by Nasheman

Modi-Nitish-

Patna: The war of words between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached a new level with Nitish’s new ‘shabdwapsi’ campaign.

Hitting back at Modi for his DNA remark, Nitish tweeted today, “In this shabdwapsi /take back your words/ campaign, at least 50 lakh people of Bihar will join the campaign and send their DNA samples to Modiji for test.”

Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United and Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal are expected to launch this campaign jointly and send DNA samples of at least 50 lakh people to the Prime Minister.

Two weeks back, PM Modi had made the controversial statement that deceit and treachery are in the Chief Minister’s DNA. Nitish questioned the remark in an open letter to the PM and asked him to withdraw those remarks as it insulted the people of Bihar.

Inspite of our repeated pleas Modiji hasn’t retracted his derogatory remarks on our DNA, we’re going to launch शब्दवापसी /TakeBackYourWords
— Nitish Kumar (@NitishKumar) August 10, 2015

DNAके अपने वक्तव्य को वापिस न लेने की मोदीजी की हठधर्मिता और फिर कल गया रैली में बिहार को बीमारू और लोगों को दुर्भाग्यशाली बताना क्षोबनीय है
— Nitish Kumar (@NitishKumar) August 10, 2015

हमारा यह विश्वास है कि बिहार और बिहार की जनता को अपमानित करने वालों को यहाँ की जनता माकूल जवाब देगी

Lalu Prasad Yadav arrested as RJD bandh cripples life in Bihar

July 27, 2015 by Nasheman

lalu prasad yadav

Patna: RJD President Lalu Prasad and several of his supporters were today arrested here while trying to enforce the day-long Bihar bandh called by his party as the shutdown adversely affected life across the state.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vikas Vaibhav said, “Prasad has been arrested along with his supporters while enforcing bandh. He has been taken to the camp jail of Bihar Military Police – 5 located on the outskirts of Patna. He might be given bail if the sections imposed are bailable ones.”

An FIR has been registered against Prasad at Kotwali police station under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty, 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).

332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 431 (mischief by injury to public road), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation).

The bandh disrupted normal life as few trains were halted by lathi-wielding mobs, which also forced few shops and educational institutions to shut operations. The working of the Patna High Court was also hit.

Officials said several judges got delayed in reaching the High Court due to the bandh and wanted to know if the state government was supporting it. They also questioned the security preparedness of the state government.

Earlier, Prasad had come out from his residence riding a ‘tamtam’ or ‘tonga’ (a single-horse drawn carriage) draped with his party colours and symbol.

He and his hundreds of supporters then proceeded towards Dak Bungalow crossing, the nerve centre of city traffic, enforcing bandh all the way.

“Our motive is to demand caste census data and remove BJP from power. ‘BJP hatao, desh bachao’ (Remove BJP, save the country) because it is ‘Bharat Jalao Party’. The bandh is a huge success. I have never seen this type of bandh in my life except during the JP movement,” Prasad said.

The RJD chief denied any untoward incident by his party workers anywhere in the state and asserted that “youths have punctured BJP”. He also gave the call to remove Narendra Modi from the post of Prime Minister.

Officials said shops remained shut, colleges and educational institutions were forced to close down, roads including national highways were blocked and vehicles were attacked during the shut-down called by RJD.

Hordes of RJD supporters armed with sticks and canes were seen burning tyres and bamboos at busy thoroughfares in the state capital. They also disrupted classes and forcibly closed colleges affiliated to Patna University, officials said.

Modi praises Nitish, targets Lalu and Congress

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

Modi referred to Nitish Kumar seven times in his speech, praising him for his various requests and suggestions related to the development of Bihar

Modi-Nitish-

Patna: In a clear bid to divide the anti-BJP opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lauded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar but targeted his allies RJD leader Lalu Prasad and the Congress on the issue of Bihar’s development.

Modi, who arrived here earlier in the day, referred to Nitish Kumar seven times in his speech here, praising him for his various requests and suggestions related to the development of Bihar.

Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United, Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party have formed a grand alliance to defeat the BJP-led coalition in the upcoming Bihar assembly election.

Modi, who shared the stage with Nitish Kumar at the Veterinary College ground, admitted that he agreed with the chief minister that railway projects for Bihar started when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister were delayed after the Congress took power in 2004.

But Modi made no effort to spare Lalu Prasad and the earlier Congress-led UPA government – the RJD leader was its railway minister – for allegedly blocking and delaying some projects meant for Bihar.

Modi did not take Lalu Prasad’s name but made references to the railway minister then. But he attacked the Congress by name.

Modi made the comments after flagging off the Daniyawa-Biharsharif railway line and the Patna-Mumbai railway line here.

Modi also blamed the Congress-led UPA government for failing to complete the Barauni fertilizer factory and other projects in Bihar.

Modi was seen regularly interacting with Nitish Kumar during the inauguration and launch of different projects here and at the foundation day function of the ICAR here.

At another venue, Modi said development was the answer to all the plaguing the country ills including poverty, illiteracy and unemployment.

“There is no alternative to development. Development is the answer for all problems,” Modi said.

On a day-long visit to Bihar, Modi was received by Governor K.N. Tripathi and Nitish Kumar when he flew in here.

The prime minister said his government’s agenda was to develop eastern India including Bihar. “Unless Bihar is developed, the country cannot be developed.

“I will announce a special package for Bihar at the right time, not now,” he added.

Vote in Modi's name; CM candidate not finalised: BJP tells Bihar

June 16, 2015 by Nasheman

Patna: The BJP said on Tuesday it will not announce its chief ministerial candidate and instead fight the coming Bihar assembly elections in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The BJP will not announce its chief ministerial candidate. The BJP has several capable leaders for the top political post in the state but it will fight the assembly elections in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Ananth Kumar, union minister for chemicals and fertilisers and party incharge for Bihar.

“Narendra Modi is the BJP face; our party will contest the assembly polls under his leadership,” he told the media here.

BJP’s main rival – ruling Janata Dal-United, RJD, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party combine – declared Nitish Kumar as its candidate for the top post on June 8.

Nitish Kumar said that the party had, in the last one year, contested assembly elections in different states in the name of Modi.

The union minister downplayed the repeated demand of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar that the BJP too declare its chief ministerial candidate.

BJP ally Rashtriya Lok Samta Party said on Monday that its party chief and union minister Upendra Kushwaha be declared the opposition alliance’s chief ministerial candidate.

However, another BJP ally, union minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party, announced last week that Paswan would not be the NDA’s chief ministerial candidate.

Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who announced joining the NDA alliance in the state, said he was not in the race for the top job and only a BJP leader would be the candidate.

In the caste-ridden politics of Bihar, over half a dozen BJP leaders from the upper castes and the backward castes have staked their respective claims for projection as chief ministerial candidate.

Practice Yoga regularly to stay fit, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar advises BJP president Amit Shah

June 15, 2015 by Nasheman

amit-nitish

Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has advised BJP president Amit Shah to practice yoga regularly rather than do politics over it.

Mr Kumar told reporters, “Has he seen his body whether it is suitable to do yoga? He should practise yoga silently at home everyday to stay fit. This will bring internal change in him too.”

BJP has been pushing for more participation from schools and educational institutions on International Yoga Day on June 21. Some Muslim groups like the Muslim Personal Law Board had opposed the central government’s move to make it compulsory in schools, saying that yoga asanas like Surya Namaskar are un-Islamic. The government had denied issuing any such directions.

Mr Kumar who practices yoga regularly said, “Yoga is very useful and should be practised sincerely at home for good health. But BJP is indulging in show off in the name of yoga which is triggering dispute.”

Mr Shah will take part in yoga day celebrations in Patna on June 21.

Assembly elections in Bihar are due in a few months at the end of this year. Mr Shah held discussions with union minister Ram Vilas Paswan in Delhi today, to take stock of the political situation.

BJP announced a tie up with former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi this Thursday; Mr Manjhi and Mr Kumar were once friends, but now bitter political rivals.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising of BJP, Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party had swept the 2014 general elections winning 31 out of 40 seats in the state.

Mr Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and former chief minister Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal have already announced a tie-up between the two and Congress for the upcoming assembly elections.

5.5 magnitude aftershock in Nepal, minor tremors felt in Bihar, Bengal

May 16, 2015 by Nasheman

nepal-earthquake

Patna: Minor tremors were felt in several parts of Bihar and West Bengal after an aftershock measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit Nepal this evening.

The tremors were also reported from capital Patna, Siwan, Munger, Darbhanga and Purnea in Bihar. In West Bengal, tremors triggered fresh panic among residents in Siliguri, Malda and elsewhere in north Bengal besides Kolkata.

There are reports of many people running out of their offices and houses on to the streets after the tremors.

The epicenter of today’s aftershock was at a depth of about 10 kilometres in Nepal’s Dolkha, which lies in the same faultzone that has been experiencing several aftershocks since April 25, when a massive earthquake of 7.9 magnitude struck the Himalayan nation, killing over 8000 people there and 50 in Bihar.

Another massive earthquake: 26 killed in Nepal, eight in Bihar

May 12, 2015 by Nasheman

NEPAL-EARTHQUAKE

Kathmandu: At least 26 people were killed and over 150 were injured when a big earthquake struck Nepal on Tuesday.

Initial reports reaching here said that 19 people were killed in Dolakha district, located about 170 km from here.

Dolakha is about 130 km from Kodari, the epicentre of the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck in the afternoon.

Two five-storeyed buildings collapsed in capital Kathmandu, an official said.

Police spokesman Kamal Singh Bam earlier said that four people were killed in Chautara town in Sindhupalchowk district and three people died in capital Kathmandu.

He said that the number of deaths is likely to go up as they await news from other areas.

A major earthquake on Tuesday jolted Nepal, striking fear among the people and causing panic in a country which was barely recovering from the devastating April 25 temblor.

Cracked buildings collapsed in a heap of debris and landslides cut off roads as an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale hit Nepal, with its epicentre not far from Mount Everest — the world’s highest peak at 8,848 m.

Terrified people ran out of homes and offices as the buildings began to shake violently due to the earthquake. They ran to open space and parks here.

“It was frightening,” said an eyewitness who clutched her daughter. “It felt worse than last time,” she added

Six strong aftershocks followed in quick succession. Four of the aftershocks were in the epicentre Kodari while the strongest aftershock measured 6.3 on the Richter scale.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he has directed authorities to be on alert for rescue and relief operations.

A tweet from the prime minister’s office said: “PM took stock of the situation following the fresh major earthquake felt in Nepal and parts of India, at a high-level meeting.”

India Meteorological Department chief L.S. Rathore said that aftershocks could well continue for a few more weeks and months.

The tremors were felt in India, particularly in capital Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Amritsar, Kolkata and the northeastern city of Guwahati. Buildings also shook in faraway Kochi in Kerala.

In Delhi, people ran out as buildings began to shake. Metro services were brought to a halt.

Rohtash Sharma said in Delhi: “I was at a bank when I felt the earthquake. I immediately ran out along with others.”

“Oh…this time I felt that it lasted longer than the one that we had in April. We all rushed out of our houses,” said Rakesh Sharma, who lives on the fifth floor in a high-rise building in C-Scheme area of Jaipur in India’s Rajasthan state.

In Kathmandu, an eyewitness said that he saw a building fall.

Another witness told IANS that he saw debris falling on a taxi packed with people. The fate of the people in the taxi was not immediately known.

Onlookers were left dazed and distraught on seeing the buildings collapse with a roar, a replay of the April 25 quake horror.

There was no electricity in Kathmandu. Internet connectivity too snapped.

People desperate for news tried to get in touch through their mobile phones, but that too did not work. The mobile network was jammed.

In Kathmandu, people made a beeline for shops to stock on water and other essential commodities here.

Harried shopkeepers were seen trying to manage the surging crowds at their shops.

People feared a repeat of the April 25 earthquake which caused widespread devastation.

“It is really scary,” said a Kathmandu resident as he rushed to join the people at the local grocery shop.

Nepal’s National Assembly was in session when the earth began to shake, creating panic among the lawmakers. They quickly trooped out of the building, which was soon plunged into darkness.

Kathmandu airport was closed temporarily as the ATC staff hurried out of the tower.

Eight killed as quake strikes Bihar

At least eight people, including three children, were killed and nearly two dozen people were injured when a massive earthquake caused walls to collapse in parts of Bihar on Tuesday, officials said.

The 7.3 magnitude earthquake’s epicentre was in Kodari, Nepal and its effect was felt across north India, including Bihar.

A labourer was killed when an under-construction wall collapsed in Danapur near Patna and a child was killed in Siwan district when a wall collapsed. Another child was seriously injured, officials of state disaster management department said.

Two children were killed in Manigachi in Darbhanga district in a wall collapse and a woman was killed in Dumra of Sitamarhi district when she came under the debris of a wall that fell.

One person died in Hajipur in Vaishali district, Nawada and Saran districts due to the quake.

Over half a dozen girl students of a government middle school at Bihya in Bhojpur district were injured when they were trying to rush out of class room.

“All of them were admitted at a primary health centre for treatment,” a district official said.

In Forbesganj in Araria district, bordering Nepal, at least 12 people were injured in a stampede during the quake.

People in Patna, Darbhanga, Purnea, Kishanganj, Madhubani, Jehanabad and Aurangabad felt the tremors for over a minute.

“People across Bihar felt the tremors,” Patna Met Office director A.K. Sen said.

According to state disaster management department officials here, there were reports of cracks in several houses in Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Gaya, and Raxaul in East Champaran district.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called a meeting of the state disaster management department and directed officials concerned to assess the damage caused by the quake.

Hundreds of thousands of people came out of their houses across the state as soon as they felt temblor.

In Patna, people rushed out of their houses and took shelter in open spaces.

Window of opportunity?: Stop mocking the ‘cheaters’ of Bihar

March 20, 2015 by Nasheman

bihar-exam

by Jitendra Kumar

All day today photographs of parents and guardians helping their wards to cheat were in circulation on social media and news sites. This has unleashed a wave of ridicule targeted at not only Bihar’s education system but also at students appearing for those exams, and generally Biharis across the country. The Bihari students have been silenced and shamed.

Fortunately or not, I’ve been a full time student at JNU, Jamia, DU, Himachal University, Magadh University and IGNOU too. Thus I’m neither impressed – nor aghast – when you show me the pictures suggesting only students from Bihar cheat. In fact these are the poor students who haven’t learned to use WiFi yet.

They are those unlucky students whose teacher guesses ten questions, of which any five are bound to make it to the question paper. But they are not those students for whom 30 marks are assigned for internal assessment. Their parents are still too ‘backward’ to put them in schools which only provide general marking. It is this ‘backwardness’ led by poverty which brings out the courage to clamber up the walls up to the fourth floor. Actually, it would be better to see these parents as the examinees. What prompts them to risk life and limb? The answer to this would never be published. The visuals of the ‘answer’ would never be published.

There might be several girls whose marriages are bundled with the fate of their marksheet. The government hardly provides any job opportunity, but if they manage to pass the examination, their chances of getting a decent and respectable bridegroom increases. Their parents are eager that their daughters pass the examination – they will have to manage less dowry. Every single additional mark managed by the girl would relieve the tension of her father in direct proportion. This daredevilry of the parents not only shows them helping to cheat but the necessity of a marksheet.

Thus the eagerness comes to climb up to the fourth floor. There might be several students who are not necessarily dumb but only higher marks can make them eligible to get their admissions in colleges or sit in competitive exams. Once they are out applying for their admissions, they have to compete equally with others coming from different schools, different background and different boards. This ‘different’ stands for privileged. When education is already sold out to private players, and seat availability in government colleges woefully less than required, can we blame the students?

Clearly, they are not the ones who can afford private collages or coaching centres like those in Kota. Thus the eagerness comes to climb up fourth floor. Sensational photographs definitely tickle us, but sadly there will be no visual archive of the way in which they live in temporary arrangements in cities for this exam. Up to ten students stay in one small room hired for examinations, bringing rice and other important items from their villages. Failing in these examinations scares them more than climbing up or the police’s lathi charge.

In any case, this education doesn’t provide them jobs necessarily but mere social status due to over-valorized Matric pass status. The risk is for that as well. Thus the eagerness to climb up to fourth floor. These people are definitely frightened of heights, police’s lathicharge and even a lock up in the worst scenario – but their children got a Siksha Mitra instead of a competent teacher. ‘Homework’ for them has implied helping their parents in household chores and earning extra income. In classes before lunch, most of them dream about the day’s menu of mid day meal. Thus these parents are not helping their children to cheat but trying to compensate for what they actually deserved, but never got.

A Tenth-pass certificate is not only a result of an examination but its a competition between those who have and those who don’t. And these parents are only too aware of that. Anyhow tomorrow, they have to compete on ‘equal’ terms with those who had better facilities, teachers, books, food with no worries.

In 1996, there was an attempt to scuttle down cheating attempts. Less than 15% pass results were published across Bihar. That also, mostly third division. Those third division passed students were cream of the society back then. But what happened later! Most of them were denied those opportunities in vacancies due to marks.

If I were one among those parents, I too would have climbed up to the top floor too for a better future for my child. When teachers to education ministers are devoid of ethics or empathy, don’t put the blame on children. They are only kids learning to survive.

Cheating in Bihar Board Exams reaches new heights

March 20, 2015 by Nasheman

bihar-exam

Patna: Look at the photographs carefully before reading this report. That’s not a mock drill but Bihari model examination! Yes, cheating in exams is fairly common in the North Indian state, but new images have emerged which show just how large-scale and blatant the practice is.

Many students smuggled in textbooks and notes into the examination centres despite tight security – and parents and friends were photographed scaling the walls of test centres to pass on answers to students during the current secondary school examinations.

The examinations, held by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), began on Tuesday and are scheduled to go on until 24 March. Officials say more than 1.4 million students are taking the tests.

Most of the incidents of cheating this year have been reported from Saharsa, Chhapra, Vaishali and Hajipur districts.

What’s worse, instead of taking strict action, the state education minister PK Shahi tried to shrug off govt’s responsibility by saying, “the government is helpless to stop the dishonest practices unless parents and students cooperate for the same.”

Tall claims of the Bihar School Examination Board of conducting free, fair and peaceful examinations fell flat as students were seen openly cheating at various centres. At several centres, police personnel failed to stop them while at some they are seen even helping in the cheating.

Some photos even show policemen posted outside the centres accepting bribes to look the other way, our correspondent adds.

When asked about the unfair practices being used in the examination on the side-lines of Bihar legislative council, Shahi questioned the reporters in return, “Over 14 lakh students are taking the examination. You tell us what can the government do to stop cheating id parents and relatives are not ready to cooperate? Should the government give orders to shoot them?”

The education minister went on record to say the state government alone cannot stop the unfair practices is students and parents don’t help. “The orders for conduct of free and fair exams have been given to district magistrates and police officials,” he said but when it was pointed out that even cops were seen helping students, Shahi said, “It may be that even their kin are taking the exams so they may be helping.” The minister expressed helplessness in taking action even in the remaining exams.

It may be mentioned that over 14.26 lakh students are appearing at the BSEB matriculation examination being held at a little over 1,200 centres in the state. About 1,000 examinees have been expelled from the examination in the first two days, board officials said.
