Modi is first PM who always stays outside India: Raj Thackeray

October 29, 2015 by Nasheman

Mumbai: Taking potshots at Narendra Modi on his frequent foreign tours, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray today alleged that he is the first Prime Minister in Indian history to have remained out of the country for long.

“What kind of a government do we have? Instead of doing work, they are behind banning every possible thing. Here we have a PM, who is the first in the country to have remained out of India for so many days,” Thackeray said.

Raj was speaking here at an India Today conclave here. “I just heard that Salman Khan is now making Bajrangi Bhaijan part 2. In the sequel, he will be seen bringing back Modi to India from a foreign country,” he said taking a dig on the PM.

As of October 2015, Modi has reportedly made 28 foreign trips. Most of them were state visits to Asian countries, following his neighborhood first and Act East policies.

Criticising the proposed Bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Thackeray questioned the purpose that would be served by introducing this super fast train.

“Why do we need a Bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad? Why not to some other state? What purpose will it serve? Just go to Gujarat, eat a Dhokla (Gujarati delicacy) and come back. Thats all,” he said.

He further said that the recent standoffs between the BJP and Sena are ruining the smooth running of the government.
“The way these both parties fight publicly, even husbands and wives dont fight this way. CM says all is well between them, but if that is so, one needs to go and ask the Sena ministers,” he said.

“It is only the BJP whose Acche Din have come. Their ally and its ministers are only sulking,” he added.
Backing Senas Opposition to Ghazal maestro Ghulam Alis concert here, Thackeray said, “Opposition is not to him as a singer. But, do our artists get the kind of respect they deserve in Pakistan? There is so much of talent here in India that we do not need an outsider to perform here.”

Defying meat ban orders, MNS to sell meat in Mumbai today

September 10, 2015 by Nasheman

Mumbai: In defiance to a 4-day ban called for by the BMC on sale of meat in Mumbai, Shiv Sena and MNS activists on Thursday put up stalls to sell meat in Dadar market.

The activists were later detained by the Mumbai Police.

The BMC has imposed a four day ban on the sale of meat in Mumbai during the Jain fasting period. The ban covers mutton and chicken, and excludes fish and eggs. It also extends to private businesses selling raw meat.

As per the BMC orders, all the meat and poultry shops have been directed to remain closed on September 10, 13, 17 and 18.

While Shiv Sena and MNS are against the four-day meat ban, BJP has demanded an eight day ban. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray wants the ban on the sale of meat to be revoked.

The Jain community will be observing Paryushan from September 10-17.

Delhi HC notice to Election Commission on plea for MNS' de-recognition

October 16, 2014 by Nasheman

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued notice to the Election Commission on a plea seeking suspension of recognition of the MNS as a political party for its alleged use of “hate language ” against non-Marathi people on its website.

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S Endlaw sought response from the poll panel by Nov 5.

The court was hearing a petition filed by advocate Mithilesh Kumar Pandey, seeking direction to de-recognize the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for using hate language and for violating the model code of conduct.

The MNS on its website had said: “The MNS will fight to its last breath to eliminate the interference of the non-Marathi power-mongers from outside in the state’s politics and social life, thereby reinforcing the existence of Maharashtra for the Marathi manus (people).”

The plea, filed against the commission, the Maharashtra government, the MNS and Thackeray, said the MNS members have routinely made hate speeches against people from northern India.

“They have disturbed communal harmony by making inflammatory statements against people belonging to different religions/regions and distorted their impression of the Hindu religion/particular region and ideology,” it said.

Pandey told the court that on Aug 26, the poll panel “wrongly” held that MNS cannot be de-recognized as it has already removed the objectionable contents from its website.

The poll panel’s decision came after the court had disposed of Pandey’s similar plea on the issue and asked commission to expeditiously decide his complaint seeking de-recognition of the MNS.
