Thakur Anoop Singh walks the ramp the “Khadinarra” for designer Rasshmi Solankii at India Intimate Fashion Week (IIFW). The India Intimate Fashion Week Season 2 concluded in Mumbai on 22nd Apr, 2018 with a grand fashion show by ace designer Rasshmi Solankii whose collection “Khadinarra” made with the fabric that is the pride of the nation “Khadi”.
The resort wear collection showcased Jackets, Skirts, Shorts & Bralets in interesting cuts & patterns perfect for wearing to a corporate meeting or a wedding by the beach.
The show highlighted creativity & sustainability at the same time with attires made from khadi cotton & khadi silk, a natural fibre, dyed with vegetable, flower & leaf extract. The buttons used too were made of coconut shells & the accessories of sea shells. While curating the collection, Rashmii Solankii made sure it was as close to nature as possible.
Talking about the collection Rashmii Solankii averred, “My collection is an amalgamation of Khadi which has the ability to keep cool in summers & warm in winters. The challenge was sourcing the fabric from varied Khadi Gram Udyogs as no 2 samples are alike much like our fingerprints.”
On why she called her collection “Khadinarra”, Rashmii Solankii mentions, “Khadi continues to be special in many ways for me as the world moves towards industrial & fast fashion. It’s the fabric of freedom that continues to generate income for the poor, especially women who contribute to 70% of khadi artisans.”
Since she used the fabric of the nation, Rashmii Solankii’s showstopper too had to be someone who had made the nation proud and so it was Thakur Anoop Singh, actor, pilot, athlete & singer who went on to become India’s 1st ever Mr. World in the year 2015.
About the collection Thakur Anoop Singh averred, “It’s my privilege to be associated with a brand & a show that boasts of how rich Indian culture & Indian heritage is. I think more people should be aware of how to buy Khadi fabric & clothes made from the kadhi. What’s even better is that designers like Rasshmi Solankii are making such amazing & chic patterns that make this clothes very on trend. Now this is sustainable fashion in its truest sense.”
