The whitefield Division police of Whitefield police on Wednesday arrested three bike lifters and recovered 39 stolen bikes worth Rs.50 lakh from them.
The accused has been identified as,Anand,29, Mahalingaiah,27 and Chittaiah,26 from Andhra Pradesh.
Girish S, DCP Whitefield,told reporters Based on a series of bike theft case,a high level meeting was called in which all crime staffs of all the stations were present as in the meeting we motivated them and given free hands to them to detect crime and take precautions to control crime.
After the meeting a special team was formed under the supervision of ACP,Shanthamallapa,team headed by PI, Shantaram swung into action the team visited the crime spot and coloborated CCTV footage from the vicinity and in one of the CCTV footage the crime team identified the identity of the accused.
The team with the help of local intelligence and other technology skill the police track down the accused and arrested them.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and it was found that the accused hails from Andhra Pradesh and Tumakuru used to move around residential apartments which have no security measures and steal bikes from the basements in whitefield division.
The accused are experts in breaking the locks and using duplicate keys to steal bikes .
The team grilled them who spilled the beans and based on their statement the team recovered 39 stolen bikes worth Rs.50 lakhs which they have sold It in Andhra Pradesh and rural parts of Tumakuru to their customers for throwaway prices .
We have handed over the keys of the recovered bikes to its rightful owners,after obtaining court permission.
We appeal to citizens and apartment owners to ensure adequate security measures to prevent thefts and other criminal offences in their vicinity.
Finally Bengaluru police commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP East,A Subramanyeswara Rao,DCP Whitefield,Girish S, ACP,Shanthamallapa,PI,Shantaram,PSI,Naveen Kumar AV,Srinivas S,and crime staff as, Venkatesh,Rajagopal,Muniraju,Yaseen Pasha,Munnikrishna,Sharanbasappa,Tejaswin Nayak,and Madan kumar has been appreciated for the commendable and excellent investigation and work done by them in nabbing the trio and recovering stolen bikes from them a special reward will be given to the team he added.
