Kohli blasts match referee over no ball gaffe: Report

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

Bengaluru, March 29 Nasheman News :A livid Virat Kohli on Thursday stormed into the match referee’s room and hurled abuses at him following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) home defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which was marred by a glaring umpiring blooper that cost RCB dear, reports said.

According to a Times Now report, right after the presentation ceremony, a furious Kohli barged into match referee Manu Nayyar’s room and used abusive language to let his displeasure known.

As per the report, Kohli even told the match referee that he didn’t care if he was penalised for violating the code of conduct.

Needing 41 runs from 4 overs, RCB looked to be cruising against MI at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru before Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga tightened the screws on the home team and won the game for MI by 6 runs.

But the game will be remembered for umpire S. Ravi’s failure to spot a no-ball off the final delivery of the match. With RCB needing six runs from the last ball to tie the game, Lasith Malinga bowled a dot ball, but replays showed it should have been a no-ball as he overstepped.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli made his displeasure known at the end of the game, saying that the teams were not playing club cricket and the officials needed to be more careful.

During the presentation ceremony, Kohli said: “We are playing at the IPL level and not playing club cricket. The umpires should have had their eyes open. That is a ridiculous call (last ball). If it is a game of margins, I don’t know what is happening. They should have been more sharp and careful out there.”

MI skipper Rohit Sharma too backed Kohli and said that these mistakes shouldn’t happen as they were game changers.

“I just got to know when we crossed the rope. Somebody told me it was a no ball. These kind of mistakes are not good for the game of cricket, it’s pretty simple. In the over before that, Bumrah bowled a ball which wasn’t a wide. Those are game changers. There’s a TV up there, they have to watch what’s happening. It is as simple as that.

“Players can’t do much. The only thing they can do is walk off and shake hands because it was the last ball. It’s disappointing to see that. I hope they rectify their mistakes like we do when we make mistakes,” Sharma rued.

Speaking to IANS, a senior official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said the howler in Thursday’s match was waiting to happen since there have been no proper assessment and judgement.

“What you saw (yesterday) was a symptom and not the disease. It has been two years since the Umpires’ Committee functioned. The process that was followed earlier was that the umpires were assessed during the year by a panel of former umpires who were on the Umpires’ Committee.

“The committee members were also free to visit and see the assessment being done. All of that went out of the window once the Committee of Administrators (CoA) moved in lock, stock and barrel. Mistakes happened then too, but there was a system because of which the umpires were apprehensive since they were being judged,” the official said.

LS Polls: Is it Gandhi Vs Godse now?

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

Puducherry, Mar 29 : AICC Puducherry Secretary-in-charge Sanjay Dutt on Friday termed the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as a mandate between the ideologies of Mahatama Gandhi and Nathuram Godse with Congress representing the Gandhian thoughts and principles.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the lines are very clearly divided no matter how much Mr Modi try to divert attention by raising irrelevant issues to hide his failure in every field.
Reminding Mr Narendra Modi of his promise of delivering Rs 15 lakh into the bank accounts of every Indian, Dutt said “Rahul Gandhi had promised waiver of agricultural loans of farmers during the campaign in MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan assembly elections, and within ten days of coming into power he delivered his promise.”
Dutt accused Mr Modi of not fulfiling the promises he had made during 2014. “He promised of curbing terror attacks and still we are witnessing terror attacks in the country, he promised of stabilizing price rise and presently we are facing the highest rate inflation”, he said.

Dutt said Modi is ‘Chowkidar’ for only the likes of Ambani, Adani, Nirav Modi etc and it is very clear that the total policy was of ‘Loot, Jhoot and Scoot?. “How can a person escape from the country without the support of the government”, he said.
“It is clear that they left the country with the support of the government”, he said adding that before leaving all of them gave donations to BJP which is the part of loot officially and unofficially every one knows, he added.

Mentioning the new NYAY scheme Dutt said, “As far as the congress party is concerned it wanted to empower all the people of the country. Rahul Gandhi along with P Chidambaram had explained how the scheme is going to be implemented. All doubts were cleared press conference and now those raising doubts are against the poor.”

People will vote for BJP as homage to Parrikar: CM

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

Panaji, March 29 (Nasheman News) People of Goa will vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming Lok Sabha polls as homage to late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who died on March 17, incumbent Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday.

Speaking to the media after outgoing Lok Sabha MP and Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik filed his nomination papers for the North Goa seat, Sawant admitted that campaigning for the elections, in the absence of Parrikar, would be a difficult proposition.

“Because of the work and development which Manohar Parrikar has carried out for so many years, people will vote for us as a homage to the late leader. Definitely, they will vote for us as a mark of respect and remembrance to him and help us win both (Lok Sabha) seats,” Sawant said.

He said the poll campaign would be “quite difficult” in Parrikar’s absence, but added that the body of work put in by him over the years as well as support from the allies, would see the party through in the polls.

“Without Parrikar, the campaigning is quite difficult for us, we know that. We are going into elections without Parrikar for the first time. But the people of Goa are with us. Alliance partners are with us.”

Sawant said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government had spent Rs 15,000 crore for infrastructure development in Goa, which includes highway expansion, an upcoming international airport and new bridges which would help the BJP win the Lok Sabha polls.

Sawant’s comment however, comes at a time when the Goa Chief Electoral Officer is probing a complaint against him for conducting a state-wide programme of distribution of Parrikar’s ashes, which were immersed in water bodies across Goa earlier this week.

The complaint filed by a city lawyer also quoted a part of Sawant’s speech where he reportedly said that in Parrikar’s absence, the late Chief Minister’s ashes will help fetch the BJP the winning votes in the forthcoming general elections as well as the by-polls to the three Assembly seats.

BJP Karnataka urges State Police to register cases against Congress-JDS for threatening IT officials

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

Bengaluru, Mar 29 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka has demanded the State Police to register criminal complaints against the JD(S) and the Congress leaders, who Yesterday allegedly threatened the IT officials with dire consequences for conducting raids on various business persons, civil contractors and those who were close to the leaders of the two parties.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, BJP State Spokesperson G Madhusudan charged that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his cabinet ministers, including Dr G Parameshwara, D K Shivakumar and others gathered near the IT office and criticised the IT authorities and used abusive languages. Chief Minister and his Cabinet Ministers organised public meeting without taking permission from the Election Commission.
While demanding the State police to register case against those who were present during the protest against the IT authorities, the BJP leader also urged Governor Vajubhai Vala to take serious note of Chief Minister’s attitude in coming out in the street and addressed the gathering in front of the IT office.
“It is highly unethical on the part of the Chief Minister and his cabinet members, joined hands to protect the tax evaders and corrupt elements in the society”, the BJP leader charged.
It may be recalled that both the Congress and the JD(S) leaders including Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwara had lead a protest rally
against the IT officials, for having conducted raids in multiple locations on Thursday, targeting the Congress and the JD(S) supporters.

Battered KXIP look to bounce back against MI

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

Mohali, March 29 (Nasheman News) With the ‘Mankading’ shadow still hovering over them, a deflated Kings XI Punjab will look to get their house in order when they take on Mumbai Indians in their first Indian Premier League (IPL) home game this season at the IS Bindra Stadium here on Saturday.

After beating Rajasthan Royals on the road in their opening fixture, a game infamous for Ashwin’s ‘Mankading’ Jos Buttler, Kings XI lost by 28 runs to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.

Ashwin went for a lot of runs after he asked the home team to bat first, and looked out of sorts on the field too, making a silly mistake of allowing the team to have only three fielders inside the circle when Mohammed Shami castled Andre Russell towards the end of the first innings. It was called a no ball.

Russell went on to smash a 17-ball 48 as KKR scored 56 runs off 19 balls since the incident. Kings XI lost the match there and while chasing, were never in the game.

It will be hard for India Test off-spinner Ashwin to take his mind away from the controversy which got world cricket talking.

On Thursday, MCC clarified that Ashwin seemingly “paused too long” which was “not within the spirit of cricket”. This was a U-turn from their previous stance where the custodians of the sport said the 32-year old did not violate the ethics.

Punjab can draw heart from David Miller and Mayank Agarwal scoring half centuries in the last game, with Shami bowling really fast and exceedingly well.

The Chris Gayle factor is always there and though the Jamaican did not get as many runs as the team would have liked in the last game, the left-hander is always a threat to any opposition and can single-handedly win games.

Coming to Mumbai, the Rohit Sharma led side won a last-ball cliffhanger against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday night, a game marred by Lasith Malinga escaping a big last-ball no ball which the umpire missed.

RCB and India skipper Virat Kohli termed the incident as “ridiculous”, saying this isn’t club cricket. But Mumbai would, nonetheless, take heart from the victory and look to continue their winning run against Punjab.

Rohit got some runs under his belt but it was Jasprit Bumrah who once again showcased why he is the best bowler in white-ball cricket with his accurate stuff to choke RCB and AB De Villiers who was looking in ominous form.

Kings XI Punjab: Ravichandran Ashwin, Mayank Agarwal, Arshdeep Singh, Murugan Ashwin, Agnivesh Ayachi, Sam Curran, Chris Gayle, Harpreet Brar, Moises Henriques, Sarfaraz Khan, Mandeep Singh, David Miller, Mohammed Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Karun Nair, Darshan Nalkande, Nicholas Pooran, KL Rahul, Ankit Rajpoot, Simran Singh, Andrew Tye, Varun Chakravarthy, Hardus Viljoen.

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jason Behrendorff, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, Ben Cutting, Pankaj Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Siddhesh Lad, Evin Lewis, Lasith Malinga, Mayank Markande, Mitchell McClenaghan, Adam Milne, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Anukul Roy, Rasikh Salam, Yuvraj Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, Barinder Sran, Aditya Tare, Suryakumar Yadav, Jayant Yadav and Quinton de Kock (wicket-keeper).

‘IT Dept DG is corrupt, working as a BJP stooge’: CM KUmarswamy

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

The CM and several Congress leaders staged a protest outside the I-T Dept’s office on Thursday alleging that the BJP was misusing constitutional agencies for political gains.

On Thursday, the Income Tax officials went knocking on the doors of several influential politicians, businessmen and government officials in Karnataka. Late on Wednesday night, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy told the media that Income Tax officials would raid the homes of JD(S) leaders and their associates. Within a few hours, the I-T officials conducted search and survey operations across 28 locations in Bengaluru, Mandya, Hassan, Shivamogga and Kanakapura.

The Congress-JD(S) coalition has dubbed the raids as a political move by the BJP, which was indulging in “revenge politics” in order to “scare away” opposition parties. In order to express their outrage, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Congress legislative party chief Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dinesh Gundu Rao, Deputy CM Dr G Parameshwara and Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar held a protest outside the Income Tax Department’s office in Bengaluru.

Dubbing the DG and IG of the Income Tax Department of Goa and Karnataka — Balakrishna as a BJP stooge, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy alleged that the chief of the I-T Department was corrupt.

“The director who is here is not an honest officer. I know how many flats he owns in Mumbai and how he misused his power for personal gains. I am asking him not to be BJP’s agent… The leaders at the Centre have held backroom talks with him and promised him governorship after retirement,” Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy alleged.

Kumaraswamy also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah were using the state machinery and constitutional institutions to target opposition parties. Kumaraswamy also alleged that PM Modi and Amit Shah were on their way to change the Constitution of India.

“Ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, Narendra Modi has been misusing constitutional agencies. They are on their way to change the Constitution of India framed by Ambedkar and establish a dictatorship. We are not against Income Tax raids. We are against the fact that the purpose of the raids is to target opposition parties. That is what we are protesting,” Kumaraswamy added.

Speaking to the media during the protest, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah questioned why the CRPF was brought in for the raids and why the state police force was not intimated about the I-T Department’s search operation.

“When I-T raids are conducted, the state police protection is requested. Why was CRPF brought in? The country’s institutions are under threat. When a month ago, BJP leaders tried to bribe legislators with crores of rupees, did the I-T officers take note of it? Were they sleeping? Has it not come to their notice? Why have they not questioned how these leaders are getting the money to offer bribes? How many BJP leaders’ homes have been raided? A local BJP leader sends lists to Amit Shah. That list is forwarded to the I-T department, which conducts raids,” Siddaramaiah added.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy also stated that the EC had seized Rs 2 crore in Shivamogga last week and had handed over the case to the I-T Department, which has not announced the leaders who were being investigated. Hinting that the money belonged to a BJP leader, Kumaraswamy said, “In Hosanagar, election officers seized Rs 2 crore cash and handed over the case to the Income Tax Department. Why have you not publicised whose money it was? EC seized Rs 1.5 crore near Vidhana Soudha last week right. Why is I-T Dept not investigating whose money it was? They are indulging in petty politics to cow down the opposition parties.”

Recalling the illegal mining scam involving Janardhana Reddy and BJP leaders, which had shaken the state in 2011, Kumaraswamy said that “time and again” BJP leaders have “indulged in corrupt practices”. “Everyone knows how corrupt BJP leaders in the state are. We all know how the BJP looted the state. They flew in officials in airplanes and booked 300 Ola cabs for them to conduct raids. The media is saying that Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is scared. My door is always open. Send anyone. I will welcome them,” Kumaraswamy added.

India summons Pak deputy envoy, protests Khalistani presence on Kartarpur panel

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

New Delhi, Mar 29 : India on Friday summoned Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah here and raised protests over Khalistani presence in the Pakistani panel on Kartarpur and said it could reschedule April 2 meet on Kartarpur with Pakistan at Wagah.
“We have sought clarification, some controversial individuals are reported to have been in Kartarpur panel from Pakistani side. This raises our security concern. We do not want meeting for the sake of optics,” an official source said here even as in a statement the MEA said it has been conveyed that the next meeting on the modalities can be scheduled “at an appropriate time after receiving Pakistan’s response”.
“We called Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner and shared our position on these issues,” the source said.
“We told Pakistan categorically that while we are very keen to bring these discussions on the modalities, we need clarifications,” the source said adding, the Pakistan government through cabinet decision has set up a committee on Kartarpur and number of controversial names have come in that.
These include – the names of Gopal Singh Chawla, Maninder Singh, Tara Singh, Bisan Singh and Kuljeet Singh.
“These names are controversial elements. Gopal Singh Chawla is a person who is associated with internationally designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed of JuD. They are associated with anti-India secessionist elements as are also other names,” the source said
“These are serious concerns about security,” the source said adding some of these developments raise questions about Pakistan’s ‘intention’ to make use of the Kartarpur Corridor.
It has been told to the Pakistani diplomat that India has made it “very clear” during talks at Attari on March 14 and “we sought assurances that the Kartarpur Corridor facility should not be misused in any manner for anti-India propaganda or promoting activities which would be detrimental to India’s interests and also affect the sentiments of the people”.
The MEA statement said India remains firm about opening the Kartarpur Corridor.
In order to take forward the infrastructure development for the Corridor in an expeditious manner, India has proposed to hold another meeting of technical experts in mid-April to resolve outstanding issues at the zero point agreed to at the last meeting, it said.
“Government of India remains committed to realise the long pending demand of the Indian pilgrims to visit the holy Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib using the Corridor in a safe, secure, smooth and easy manner,” the statement said.
Pakistan has thus been asked to give the clarifications.
There are also other gaps – like India had proposed for allowing about 5000 pilgrims whereas Pakistani numbers were much less. “We need clarifications on all these”.
India has accused earlier that Pakistan was being “insincere” on the Kartarpur corridor and said there was “sea of differences” between what the official Pakistani delegation offered at Attari and what Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had himself announced earlier.

India won’t comment on UN draft on Azhar for now

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

New Delhi, March 28 (Nasheman News) India has opted against commenting at this stage on a draft initiated for consideration of the UNSC members to list Masood Azhar in the sanctions regime as part of international community’s efforts to fight against terrorism, sources said here on Thursday.

They said India’s views on Masood Azhar, the founder-leader of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which has claimed responsibility for numerous terrorist attacks in India including Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed, are well known.

The sources said it would not be appropriate to comment at this stage on a process which is entirely within the parameters of informal discussion of the United Nations Security Council and its members.

The United States has initiated a new effort for UN action against Azhar after several attempts to impose sanctions on him were blocked by China. The fresh move would force Beijing to take a public stand in the Security Council.

The US is circulating a draft resolution with the backing of Britain and France for the Security Council to condemn the February terrorist suicide-bombing in Pulwama and designate Azhar as an international terrorist who would be under the UN sanctions against Al Qaeda and similar persons and organisations.

India ‘disappointed’ with Pakistan’s response on Pulwama dossier

March 29, 2019 by Nasheman

New Delhi, March 28 (Nasheman News) India on Thursday expressed its disappointment over Pakistans response to its detailed dossier on Jaish-e-Mohammeds (JeM) complicity in the Pulwama terror attack and said that identical script was followed by Islamabad in the past after the terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008 or in Pathankot in 2016.

India also said that Pakistan should take immediate, credible, irreversible and verifiable actions against terrorists and terror organisations operating from territories under its control.

External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in response to a media query that Islamabad continued to be in denial and even refused to acknowledge the Pulwama incident as a terror attack.

He, however, said that India was still examining the paper handed over to it by Pakistan.

“India is disappointed at Pakistan’s response to our detailed dossier on Jaish-e-Mohammed’s complicity in the cross-border terror attack in Pulwama and the presence of its terror camps and leadership in Pakistan. Regrettably, Pakistan continues to be in denial and even refuses to acknowledge Pulwama as a terror attack,” Kumar said.

He also said that Pakistan did not share the details of the credible actions, if any, taken by it against terrorists or terrorist organisations based in territories under its control.

“We are hardly surprised, as this identical script was followed by Pakistan in the past after the terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008 or in Pathankot in 2016. It is a well-known fact that the UN-designated terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and its leader Masood Azhar are based in Pakistan. This was also acknowledged recently in international media by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister,” he said.

Kumar said there was no dearth of sufficient actionable information and evidence in Pakistan to take action against them, provided there was sincerity and intent to do so. “Nevertheless, we are examining the paper handed over by Pakistan,” he said.

Kumar said Pakistan should abide by the commitment it made in 2004 and which its current leadership has recently repeated, i.e, vowing not to allow any territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India in any manner.

Pakistan had on Wednesday sought more information from India on the involvement of the JeM in the Pulwama terror attack which killed 40 CRPF troopers on February 14, and the presence of JeM camps on its soil.

The Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad was recently called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the “preliminary findings” on the “Pulwama incident” were shared with him.

India handed over the Pulwama dossier to Pakistan last month with details of JeM’s complicity in the attack, for which the terror outfit had claimed responsibility.

Pakistan also claimed that it had examined 22 locations of terror training camps shared by India in connection with the Pulwama attack, but found no such camps and was willing to allow visits to the locations.

“While 54 detained individuals are being investigated, no details linking them to Pulwama have been found so far. Similarly, the 22 pin locations shared by India have been examined. No such camps exist. Pakistan is willing to allow visits, on request, to these locations,” it said.

It also said the Indian dossier contained 91 pages in six parts and only part 2 and part 3 pertained to the Pulwama incident. “Other parts are generalised allegations,” the Pakistan Foreign Affairs ministry said in a statement.

It said the investigation team had examined all the information provided by India, including the “confessional” video of Pulwama suicide bomber Adil Dar in which he “claimed” responsibility for the attack, the WhatsApp and telegram numbers used to share videos and messages, a list of 90 individuals suspected of belonging to a proscribed organisation and 22 pin locations of alleged training camps.

It said the service providers have been requested for data, including the details of activities and contacts of the GSM number provided by India.

“A request for assistance from WhatsApp has also been made to the US government. Additional information and documents from India would be essential to continue the process of investigations,” it said.
