Don’t question, salute the guts of our forces, Harsimrat Kaur Badal to Opposition

March 6, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : Days after burying differences and finalizing seat-sharing agreement with Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday lashed out at the Opposition for asking how many people died in air strike on terror camps in Pakistan.

In an interview with IANS, the Union Minister of Food Processing said the Congress and 21 opposition parties are speaking the language of Pakistan.

“It is shameful that you are questioning our armed forces and believing what Pakistan is saying,” she said launching a blistering attack on the Opposition for not believing the the armed forces.

The minister said she was worried that the Opposition’s stand will affect the morale of the armed forces. She said that going into the enemy territory and targeting terror camps in itself is a commendable achievement and required guts.

“Forget about how many people died. Are you not believing the head of our air force who said we went into the enemy territory. Even Pakistan has accepted this fact,” she said.

Confident after the seat-sharing agreement under which the SAD (Badal) and BJP decided to contest the same number of seats as in 2014 (SAD-B will contest 10 and the BJP 3 of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab), Harsimrat Kaur Badal said the alliance will hit the bull’s eye this time by winning all 13 Lok Sabha seats.

She brushed aside fierce infighting within her own party’s camp saying these dissenting voices were “zeroes to start with and if you keep adding zeros the result is going to be zero”.

The Union minister said the Congress has been attempting divide-and-rule in Punjab for many years, and that this time it was no different.

Amidst reports that SAD (B) patriarch Parkash Singh Badal may enter electoral fray as the party is facing one of its toughest battles, Harsimrat Kaur said the party will decide he will contest or not, but at the moment he is not keen.

Dismissing Aam Admi Party (AAP), the third force in Punjab, as an irrelevant factor, she said the contest is going to be two-way only. “No one knows which AAP is there in Punjab. Punjab has four AAPs,” she said saying AAP was in total disarray.

The Union Minister, who is a Member of Parliament from Bathinda, said the party will decide if she will contest from the same constituency, but she has a lot to show in terms of work.

She is not afraid to take on even Congress leader and arch rival Navjot Singh’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu from Bhatinda. “It will make the contest interesting,” she said on reports that the Congress might field the wife of the cricketer whom SAD-B has labelled as anti-national for supporting Pakistan.

1.11 MWp solar plant installed in Lucknow medical institute

March 6, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : In a move to curb carbon dioxide emissions and reduce the burden on conventional energy resources, a 1.11 MWp solar plant was installed at the Sanjay Gandhi Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) here on Wednesday.

The solar plant will help reducing 1,440 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is equivalent to planting 33,855 full grown trees, besides saving Rs 60 lakh per year, a statement said.

It is expected to generate 15,29,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per annum, it added.

Installed by the private sector CleanMax Solar, the project was inaugurated by the Uttar Pradesh Minister of Technical and Medical Education Ashutosh Tandon.

The SGPGI will source around 5-10 per cent of their power requirement through solar energy.

The project was part of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) 500 MW program to generate solar power through rooftop plants set up on government buildings.

Under the program, CleanMax Solar was awarded 19.5 MW of capacity across six states, of which 4.5 MW is in Uttar Pradesh.

Scared of people who wear ‘tikas’ on forehead

March 6, 2019 by Nasheman

Former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

BAGALKOT: Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Tuesday made a controversial statement about people wearing vermillion (tilak or tikka) on their foreheads.

Addressing an event in Bagalkot’s Badami, he said, “I am scared of people who wear long tikas with kumkum or ash.” He had pointed to a man who was wearing a ‘tikka’ in the crowd and made the remark,

Wearing vermillion on the forehead is an ancient Hindu practice.

In January, Siddaramaiah had lost his cool and was caught on camera furiously snatching a mikefrom a woman, in the process of which her ‘dupatta’ also fell.

However, clarifying the incident later he said, “It was an accident, there was no bad intention. I know her for 15 years, she is just like my sister.”

Siddaramaiah is a sitting MLA from Badami constituency in Karnataka.

Kerala CM assures bishops that Church Act won’t be implemented

March 6, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : For the second time in a week, Kerala’s ruling CPI-M said that the government has no plans to implement the Church Act, with now Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan making the assurance to a group of bishops from various Christian denominations who meet him on Wednesday.

The proposed Act aims to put in place a Devasom-like structure of administration over churches in the state and make heads of different churches accountable to the state government.

The draft act was put online by Law Reforms Commission chairman, Justice (retd) K.T. Thomas, a former Supreme Court judge, to solicit public opinion but sparked off protests from various Christian denominations.

Vijayan’s office on Wednesday issued a statement to the media which said that his government has no plans at all to implement the Act.

“This Commission before doing this never ever consulted with the Kerala government. We categorically wish to inform all concerned, this government has no plans to implement the Church Act at all,” it read.

During the previous LDF tenure (2006-11), the then Law Reforms Commission had come up with a similar Act but the government never acted upon it, it added.

On March 1, CPI-M state Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the media that the Left government was not going forward with the Act, a day after the Inter-Church Council got together near Kottayam to protest the proposed move.

SC upholds green bench order on saving Bengaluru lake

March 6, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News, Bengaluru :  The Supreme Court upheld the National Green Tribunal order to clear encroachments around Bengaluru’s largest Bellandur lake, said petitioner and BJP Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday.

“The dismissal of the appeal to quash the Tribunal order of May 4, 2016 means defendants Mantri Tech Zone and Coremind Software Services have to pay Rs 117.5 crore and Rs 13.5 crore respectively, demolish structures and vacate over 3 acres of encroached area in the lake catchment area,” said Chandrasekhar in a statement from Delhi.

His Namma Bengaluru Foundation moved the NGT in March 2014 and the top court subsequently to save the lake and its wetlands from rampant encroachments and pollution.

Located in the city’s southeast suburb, the lake is spread over 148 square kilometres.

“Mantri Tech Zone, a leading real estate developer, will also have to re-build the storm water drainage, which was diverted to make way for the illegal construction,” Chandrasekhar said.

His foundation has been fighting since 2014 for reclaiming the lake’s catchment area from vested interests, including land sharks.

“The battle to save the lake was a David versus Goliath legal fight in the green bench and the apex court against builders supported by the state government. By upholding the Tribunal order, the top court cracked the builder-politico nexus that was looting Bengaluru and the lake,” he alleged.

Accusing the state government of having nexus with contractors and builders exploiting the city, Chandrasekhar claimed the desperate attempts to get the Tribunal order quashed by the top court exposes the JD-S-Congress coalition government’s support to the realtors.

The defendants, however, did not respond to queries on the apex court order against them.

`Pakistan doing war mongering, India firm on fighting terrorism’

March 6, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : Pakistan is creating war psychosis to divert attention from India’s concerns on cross-border terrorism, informed sources said here on Tuesday and noted that India is focussed to fighting terrorism.

India is leaving no stone unturned in its effort to highlight how it has been a victim of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and unwillingness of the neighbour to take any credible action against terror outfits operating from its soil, they said.

The government has shared excerpts of the dossier it gave to Pakistan over Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)’s involvement in Pulwama terror attack with a large number of countries in the world.

The sources said that Pakistan’s rejection of India’s dossier is on expected lines and wondered what “actionable evidence” it wants. Pakistan-based JeM has claimed responsibility for the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.

They said Islamabad has to show demonstrable action against terrorism in the coming days, and that Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s remarks that soil of Pakistan will not be used by terrorist groups against any state including India is old wine in new bottle.

If there is talk of “Naya Pakistan”, it should be reflected in action on ground, they said, noting that Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), led by Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, and its wing Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation have not been banned but merely placed on the list of groups under watch.

Pakistan, they said, is only trying to show they are doing something but is actually trying to cleverly deflect attention, trying to keep is population deluded that India may do something and is keeping them in heightened sense of expectation so that they do not ask what Pakistan has done.

Pakistan Navy’s claims that it used specialised skills to stop the Indian submarine from entering Pakistani waters have already been rejected and their released video has been found to be more than two years’ old.

India has been conveying to other countries that terrorism can be dealt with actual action on ground.

If Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camp had not been hit at Balakot in Indian air strikes, as claimed by Pakistan, the media would have been taken there over the past few days, the sources said, adding that the Pakistani media needs to question their government over its lies.
