Nawaz Sharif sentenced to 10 years in jail

July 7, 2018 by Nasheman

An anti-corruption court in Islamabad on July 6 sentenced former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison. His daughter Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in jail and and son-in-law captain (retired) Safdar awarded one-year jail term.

The court also imposed a fine of £8 million on Mr. Sharif and £2 million on Ms. Maryam.

The Sharifs’ lawyers said they would challenge the ruling in High Court.

Accountability Court judge Mohammed Bashir also rejected an application from the Sharifs to postpone the announcement of the verdict as Mr. Sharif is currently with his wife Kulsoom Nawaz in London who is on ventilator for the past three weeks.

“In the interest of justice, the announcement of order in the titled reference may be postponed for a minimum of seven days period,” the applications by the Sharifs stated.

Mr. Sharif had vowed to return to the country once his wife’s health improves.

Mr. Sharif was disqualified as Prime Minister in July 2017 by the Supreme Court following a challenge to his office by Opposition leader Imran khan on the basis of publication of the Panama Papers, which alleged that the Sharif family stashed away assets in London through offshore companies Nescoll and Nelson. The companies are owned by Mr. Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz. Assets in question are four expensive flats in London worth over £200 million.

Mr. Hussain Nawaz admitted ownership of the flats but denied that they were purchased through corruption money. He never appeared before the accountability court despite several notices. He has been declared a proclaimed offender.

Sharif defiant
Sharif, referring to the imprisonment handed to him, said that he has been punished because he tried to turn the course of Pakistan’s 70-year history. “I promise that I will continue this struggle until Pakistanis are not free of the chains that they are kept in for saying the truth,” Press Trust of India news agency quoted a defiant Sharif as telling reporters in London. “I will continue my struggle till the people of Pakistan are not freed of the slavery imposed on them by some generals and judges.”

Removed as head of PML-N
Mr. Nawaz Sharf, a three-time Prime Minister, was removed as head of the Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz (PML-N) by the Election Commission following his disqualification by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court disqualified him as not being truthful in his tax returns by not showing a salary as board of chairman of a Dubai-based company. But it instructed the Accountability Court to complete the probe on his assets in six months. The Accountability Court judge sought three extensions from the apex court before completing the probe last week after more than nine months.

The PML-N has termed the trial political victimization.

Pakistan is going to the polls on July 25. The convictions are a huge setback to the ruling PML-N, which has accused the country’s powerful military establishment of conspiring against the party by forcing its candidates to switch sides and join the Opposition or contest elections as independents.

The PML-N held a meeting in Lahore to discuss the court ruling and reaction to it. The party is now headed by Mr. Nawaz Sharif’s brother Shahbaz Sharif.

‘A black ruling’
Mr. Shahbaz Sharif termed the accountability court ruling a black judgment. “People will always remember this judgment as black and controversial. We will fight in higher courts to reverse this judgment. The timing of the judgment is an attempt to influence the upcoming elections,” he said at a press conference in Lahore. He said Mr. Nawaz Sharif had served the country three times as Prime Minister and what he got in return was a black judgment.

Imran Khan welcomes the ruling
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan welcomed the court ruling and termed it a historic judgment, which would serve as a deterrent to corruption in the country. “Sharif brothers [indulged in] corruption for decades and destroyed the institutions. For the first time, a powerful person has been sentenced, which is unprecedented,” he said at a rally in Swat.

BJP high command against Operation Lotus in Karnataka

July 7, 2018 by Nasheman

It is said that the national administration of BJP has sent clear guidelines to state leaders against attempting to shape the government in a rush, as it has cautioned about the likelihood of such an exertion bringing about the loss of face for the party and its leaders.

It is assembled that the high summons of the party has forewarned the leaders in Karnataka that there is plausibility of officials from different parties ganging up against BJP and drawing up a plan according to which they may dole out confirmations of bouncing over to the saffron party and pulling back the promises ultimately to humiliate BJP. Consequently, the BJP leaders here have been requested to be extremely cautious not to get captured off kilter.

The leaders have detected that the ruling party leaders may at first act like indicating enthusiasm for joining the BJP and afterward recording the discussions by utilizing modern technology in a bid to make the party face discomfiture. Along these lines, they have exhorted the local leaders to simply tune in to what the other party leaders need to state and after that hold interviews with senior leaders of the party before pushing forward.

The central leaders feel that it would be fitting for their party to avoid endeavors to destabilize the state government and wait for differences between the coalition partner to widen with a passage of time so that the government falls apart on its own.
As different parties have ganged up against BJP and are attempting to manufacture an alliance together at the national level, there are odds of them enjoying distinctive strategies to trap BJP leaders.

Akila Karnataka Nirakara Kuruginashetty Janajagruthi.

July 7, 2018 by Nasheman

By Andrea Princy. Abirami. Santhosha.

In India two people are very important for our survival, they are farmers and weavers. Farmer is for the production of food for our survival and living, Weaver is for our clothes, which is as important as the food from the farmer.

These are the two group of people who are very important for our living and also they are the ones who are facing problems these days to pay the debts. The government is planning to take initiatives to wave off the loans of the farmers. The main reason for farmers who are unable to pay back the loans to the bank is caused by the weather which changes. In some places, the land receives no rain which results in drought and in other places the land receives excessive rain which destroyed the crops. And this situation leads the farmers to their final destination of committing suicide. And for this pathetic reason, the government has the vision to wave off the farmers loans and help them in every possible.
In a similar way, the weaver’s community of 60 lakhs people in Karnataka are also facing certain problems. The ancient method of weaving through hands is taken over by the modern technology with so much of advancement and it has even being reached in the advancement of computerised these days. Hence, there are so many advancements in the weaving industry, the innocent weavers have no idea about it’s process and they have to be thought and trained from which they learn, “how to use such advanced technological machines”. If these innocent weavers aren’t given an opportunity to train and teach them, there will be a loss for 60 lakhs people and increased unemployment across Karnataka.

The certain wants of Weaver are :
1. They need a training facility.
2. They need a market to sell their products, as farmers have their own market system of selling products such as APMC Market.
Weavers are longing for a place to sell the products which they weave. For this reason, they are pleading for a Weavers Park ( Javili Park) and Textile Park. Smriti Irani, who is the Textile Minister, gave an assurance that she will open a Textile Park in Bangalkot region but no initiation and be taken by the government till date. And around 15 to 20 district weavers population will be employed if the Textile Park is constructed. And hence they are demanding to wave off the loans in banks.
There are a lot of politicians who have come from

Congress banned ‘Akhand Bharat’ calls, but free speech for ‘tukde tukde’: Jaitley

July 6, 2018 by Nasheman

Union Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday attacked the Congress for amending the Constitution in 1951 to restrict Syama Prasad Mookerjee from advocating ‘Akhand Bharat’ whereas currently it finds calls for ‘tukde tukde’ a “legitimate free speech”.

“The first amendment to the Constitution in 1951 and the 16th amendment in 1963 imposed further conditions on the Right to Free Speech,” Jaitley said in a Facebook post on the 117th birth anniversary of Mookerjee, founder of Bharatiya Jan Sangh, the predecessor of BJP.

Jaitley said then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was against idea of ‘Akhand Bharat’ (Greater or Undivided India) as he thought it would lead to wars. With no scope to contain Mookerjee from advocating the casue, Nehru went ahead with the first amendment of the Constitution.

“The restriction (brought by the first amendment) is very broadly worded. It empowers the State to prohibit free speech if it adversely impacts ‘friendly relations with foreign states’. The State can even make the exercise of speech in this regard as a penal offence,” Jaitley said.

Mookerjee was one of the key advocates of a united India which he referred to as ‘Akhand Bharat’.

Two days before the “Nehru-Liaquat Pact” was to be signed in April 1950, Mookerjee, who was Industry Minister in the First Cabinet as a Hindu Mahasabha representative, resigned from the Cabinet in protest and took strong public position against the “Nehru-Liaquat Pact”, Jaitley noted.

“Nehru over-reacted to Mookerjee’s criticism. He interpreted the very idea of ‘Akhand Bharat’ as an invitation to conflict since the country could not be reunited other than by war,” the BJP leader said.

Mookerjee, on the contrary, claimed that Pakistan wanted a war and was already at war with India having captured part of its legitimate territory of Jammu and Kashmir and, therefore, to suggest that his speeches on ‘Akhand Bharat’ would lead to a war was not acceptable.

“The paradox in our jurisprudential evolution is that we have applied a different yardstick to those who want to dismember India and commit an offence of sedition. This debate recently came into forefront during the ‘tukde tukde’ agitation at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.”

Jaitley said a 1962 judgement of the Supreme Court in Kedarnath Singh’s case was repeatedly cited in which the court interpreted Article 124(A) of the IPC to mean that utterances would be punishable only if it intended to incite violence and a speech per se advocating disintegration would not be sedition unless the element of violence was apparent.

“In the past 70 years, this country has witnessed a change in the situation where Nehru amended the Constitution so that a demand for ‘Akhand Bharat’ could incite a war and therefore should be prohibited. On the contrary, we all were told that to advocate a breakup of the country without inciting violence is legitimate free speech,” Jaitley said.
