Israeli forces have blockaded a Palestinian village in the southern West Bank just hours after a teenage settler was allegedly stabbed to death by a Palestinian in a nearby settlement.

“Israeli forces have begun a full siege on the village of Bani Naim,” Issa Amro, a Hebron-based human rights activist and founder of Youth Against Settlements in Hebron, told Al Jazeera.

The village, just east of Hebron city in the southern West Bank, is home to the alleged assailant, 17-year-old Muhammad Nasser Tarayra.

Tarayra was shot and killed on Thursday after “infiltrating” the nearby settlement of Kiryat Arba and stabbing a 13-year-old girl to death, according to an Israeli spokeswoman.

The girl, identified as Hallel Yafa Ariel, later died from her wounds in hospital.

“They [Israeli authorities] are threatening to revoke the family’s permits to work in Israel, and they’ve arrested the boy’s father,” Amro said.

Al Jazeera’s Imtiaz Tyab, reporting from Jerusalem, said Israeli authorities had also “begun discussions as to whether they will demolish the home of the suspected attacker”.

Amro in Hebron said an obligatory curfew had been imposed across the city’s entire H2 area, the portion of the Palestinian city under full Israeli control. Israeli forces had also erected an additional 20 checkpoints.

“It is supposed to end this evening, but who really knows,” said Amro, referring to the curfew which began at 5pm.

The Israeli army has also reportedly closed down the adjacent section of Road 60, a major north-south highway that runs through the southern West Bank and into present-day Israel.

Human rights groups have repeatedly condemned Israel’s punitive measures against Palestinian communities in the wake of attacks, and say they constitute “collective punishment”.

Amro denounced the killing but said the Israeli occupation was to blame.

“We are against this killing as Palestinians, but it must be understood that Netanyahu and the Israeli government are responsible at the end of the day. They’re using their kids as human shields to take Palestinian land,” he said.

“This kid wanted to attack the settlement, but the occupation is responsible for killing him and for the death of this young girl.”

The girl was the cousin of Uri Ariel, an Israeli cabinet minister affiliated with the West Bank settler movement.

The Kiryat Arba, located in Hebron, the West Bank’s most populous city, is home to a few hundred Jewish settlers who live under heavy army guard and among several hundred thousand Palestinians.

Settlements are considered illegal under international law and are a major sticking point in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

5 arrested in Hyderabad for suspected IS links sent to 14-day judicial custody

July 1, 2016 by Nasheman

NIA

Hyderabad: A local court on Thursday remanded five people, arrested by NIA on Wednesday, in judicial custody for 14 days. They were arrested on charges of involvement in a terror module suspected to be linked to Islamic State and conspiring to carry out bomb attacks.

The accused were produced in the chamber of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge by NIA amidst heavy security. The judge remanded them in judicial custody though the investigating agency has filed an application seeking their police custody for further examination. NIA’s application for police custody is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.

The accused were later shifted to Cherlapally Central Prison. Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani alias Ibbu, Habeeb Mohammed alias Sir, Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani, Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Amoodi and Muzaffar Hussain Rizwan were arrested by NIA after a series of searches were conducted at 10 locations in Old City area, with the assistance of Hyderabad Police. The agency had detained six others, including a techie, during the operation.

According to NIA, the preliminary examination has revealed that the gang was preparing IEDs for commission of terror acts and were being guided by an online handler suspected to be based in Iraq/Syria.

NIA had earlier registered a case based on credible information that some youth hailing from Hyderabad and their accomplices have entered into a criminal conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India by collecting weapons and explosive materials to target public places, including religious sites and sensitive government buildings and others in various parts of the country.

The agency recovered firearms, ammunition, precursor chemicals for making explosives, digital exhibits and Rs 15 lakh cash from the searched locations.

NIA also seized two semi-automatic pistols with ammunition, an air gun with telescopic sight and shooting practice target boards, a large number of digital items including six laptops, about 40 mobile phones, 32 SIM cards, and a large number of hard disks, memory cards, pen drives, and digital tabs.

Meanwhile, local police today dismissed certain messages that are being circulated in social media about the threat to public safety and security in the wake of the arrests made by NIA. “There are certain messages floating in social media about the threat to public safety & security. The information being circulated in social media are all rumours and are found to be false,” Hyderabad Police said in a statement.

All necessary security arrangements have been made in the city by police to maintain peace and public order. “Law & order situation is peaceful. People of Hyderabad city are requested to not believe in rumours being circulated in social media”, it said.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Ishaq Yazdani, brother of one of the arrested persons Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani, termed the allegation against his brother as “rumours”. “It’s all rumours. Around 15 to 20 gun-wielding persons came to our house yesterday morning and in the name of investigation threw the household belongings and took away the laptop and tab. They also took away my original Aadhaar Card,” he alleged.

He claimed that Rs 15 lakh seized during the raid belonged to Ibrahim’s in-laws.

After raping a girl for 2 yrs, BJP leader’s son marries another 11-year-old girl

July 1, 2016 by Nasheman

Munna Marandi

Ranchi: Jharkhand BJP President Tala Marandi’s son Munna Marandi has been accused of sexually exploiting a girl for over two years and then marrying another girl, a minor, this week.

A girl has filed a complaint at a court in Godda district alleging that Munna Marandi exploited her sexually for two years and had promised to marry her, and then went back on his word.

She alleged that Mr Marandi befriended her, gifted her a mobile phone so that they could remain in touch, used her sexually, and then agreed to marry someone else.

She said she filed the complaint after she learnt about Munna Marandi’s planned marriage.

Mr Marandi’s marriage was reportedly solemnised on Tuesday — allegedly with a girl who is only 11 years old.

The girl alleging sexual exploitation also approached the Jharkhand Women Commission on Wednesday. The commission’s Chairperson Mahua Manjhi assured her that her complaint will be acted upon.

Sources in the commission said that a notice could also be served on Tala Marandi for allegedly getting his son married to a minor girl.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das cancelled his scheduled appearance at the wedding reception in Godda on Wednesday despite the fact that he was in the district on that day.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which rules the state, has so far been silent on the issue. The opposition parties have demanded an enquiry.

“The BJP should sack the state president and a fair probe should be instituted to investigate the allegations of sexual exploitation and marriage with a minor girl,” Alok Dubey, General Secretary of Jharkhand unit of the Congress, told news agency IANS.

A Santhal tribal leader, Tala Marandi was appointed the president of the Jharkhand unit of the BJP last month.

He represents Borio Assembly constituency in Sahibganj district.

SC allows Madani to meet his ailing mother

June 30, 2016 by Nasheman

abdul_nasser_madani

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Thursday allowed PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani to meet his ailing mother in Kerala.

Madani, through his counsel Prashant Bhushan, had sought the permission from the Supreme Court to visit his ailing mother in his home-state.

The court asked the trial court to decide for how many days the PDP leader can be allowed to visit Kerala.

The apex court also directed Madani to submit the details of his mother’s treatments.

The Karnataka government had earlier opposed Madani’s plea, alleging that he could try to influence the witnesses in the case.

It was in August 2010 Madani was arrested for his alleged role in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts case.

Karnataka Muslim organisations condemn goons of Gau Raksha Dal, for forcing Muslim transporters to eat cow dung and urine

June 30, 2016 by Nasheman

mpjr

2 Muslims who were suspected to be transporting beef from Mewat to Delhi, on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, were blocked by goons of the GauRaksha Dal, who have beaten our brothers in faith, Mukhtiar, and Rizwan, and forced them to eat cow’s dung and drink its urine, all in the name of protecting the cow.

DharmendraYadav, president of the Gurgaon GauRaksha Dal, said his volunteers had done this horrible act.

(Source: http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-news-india/two-beef-transporters-forced-to-eat-cow-dung-by-gau-rakshaks-2880282/)

MPJR

Our question to them is: Don’t they know the addresses of the companies that export beef to the world, with the Government of India’s endorsement? India is the largest beef producing country to the world!

In India, animals such as cows and pigs are used as tools to create communal disharmony among different communities. The age old technique of these mischief mongers is to cut the head of the pig and throw it in the masjid, or cut the head of the cow and throw it in the temple. All done by groups who want unrest in India.

We condemn the Faridabad Police department for arresting the victims, instead of the goons.

(Source: http://www.coastaldigest.com/index.php/news/88588-hindutva-extremists-force-muslim-youths-to-eat-cow-dung-chant-jai-shri-ram-cops-arrest-victims)

In many such cases in the past, the Police have proven to be mere bystanders during mob violence and lynching. Such irresponsible numbness on the part of the Police must be condemned and accounted.

Let’s learn to live and let live. If India is a place where Hindus live, it is also the land where Muslims, Christians, Jains, Sikhs and Dalits live. One section of a community cannot dictate terms to the rest of the communities living in a pluralistic society of ours. If one doesn’t want to eat beef, no one’s forcing them to eat beef. Similarly, we don’t want others to dictate what we have to eat and not eat. If Muslims start doing “Moral Policing”, then we may have to close all the bars, liquor shops, pubs, discotheques, casinos, movie halls, and all those places that are against the Islamic ethos. Would anyone amongst you appreciate us if we did that?

Let the law take its course. What’s the purpose of the law, if goons such as these are on loose? What’s the difference between ISIS and these goons who carried such a heinous act against our Muslim brothers. The Muslim men who were humiliated and tortured unconstitutionally are our brothers in faith. We believe in Allah as our Creator, and we believe in Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) as our Prophet, and that’s sufficient for us to unite, by the permission of God. We will stand for justice to be brought to our brothers in faith. We exhort the politicians to stop playing cheap politics by maintaining silence when they have to talk about justice.

We are against those who create bloodshed on earth – be it ISIS, Nazis or the Zionists. We condemn all those who follow anarchy. We condemn all those who violate human rights and animal rights.

If eating cow’s meat is considered against animal rights, then what will one term Obama, Putin, Netanyahu, and other leaders across the world who eat beef in morning breakfast and evening, and make burgers and soups out of beef? Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa were beef eaters. And they won the Nobel Prize for peace too.

There are enough proofs in most of the ancient scriptures in India, which supports beef eating.

The Vedas:

The Aryans of the Rig Veda did kill cows for purposes of food and ate beef is abundantly clear from the Rig Veda itself. In Rig Veda (X. 86.14) Indra says: ‘They cook for one 15 plus twenty oxen”. The Rig Veda (X.91.14) says that for Agni were sacrificed horses, bulls, oxen, barren cows and rams. From the Rig Veda (X.72.6) it appears that the cow was killed with a sword or axe.

Did Hindus Never Eat Beef? by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. (http://www.countercurrents.org/ambedkar050315.htm)

Ram Punyani writes for The Hindu Newspaper:

Many gods such as Indra and Agni are described as having special preferences for different types of flesh – Indra had weakness for bull’s meat and Agni for bull’s and cow’s. It is recorded that the Maruts and the Asvins were also offered cows. In the Vedas there is a mention of around 250 animals out of which at least 50 were supposed to be fit for sacrifice and consumption. In the Mahabharata, there is a mention of a king named Rantideva who achieved great fame by distributing foodgrains and beef to Brahmins. Taittiriya Brahman categorically tells us: `Verily the cow is food’ (athoannam via gauh) and Yajnavalkya’s insistence on eating the tender (amsala) flesh of the cow is well known. Even later Brahminical texts provide the evidence for eating beef. Even Manusmriti did not prohibit the consumption of beef.

Beef Eating: Strangulating History, Aug 14, 2001, The Hindu.

The Upanishads talk of beef eating culture in India:

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.4.18 And if a man wishes that a learned son should be born to him, famous, a public man, a popular speaker, that he should know all the Vedas, and that he should live to his full age, then, after having prepared boiled rice with meat and butter, they should both eat, being fit to have offspring. The meat should be of a young or of an old bull.

The Bible permits the eating of beef:

11 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 2 “Tell the Israelites: These are the animals you can eat: 3 If an animal has hooves that are split into two parts, and if that animal also chews the cud, then you may eat the meat from that animal.

Leviticus 11, ERVhttps://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+11&version=ERV

The Qur’an permits the eating of beef:

And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, “Peace.” He said, “Peace,” and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf. Qur’an 11:69

The Sikhs have no texts to forbid beef. The ancestors of Jains were beef eaters before Mahavira forbade it.

Swami Vivekananda says:

“You will be surprised to know that according to ancient Hindu rites and rituals, a man cannot be a good Hindu who does not eat beef”.(The Complete Works of Swami Vivekanand, vol.3, p. 536).

This is the age of Google. For those who are sincere seekers of truth, the truth is just a tap away. The phones with internet will bring you all the proofs in a second, God-Willing.

We advise the mischief mongers to not check the pulse of the Muslims. It is not a wise thing to do. Muslims in India are exercising patience to maintain peace. We Muslims want to be constitutionally right. And we can never be bogged down by such unruly goons.

Bakrid is approaching in the next 3 months. We warn the GauRaksha Dal to stop using the GauRaksha Card to create unrest during our festivals. All those who talk about the cow and GauRaksha – here is an open challenge to you: Come for a live debate in front of the public. Let’s debate and prove to you from your own scriptures on the permissibility for eating beef.

MPJR – MISSION POSSIBLE FOR JUSTICE & RIGHTS will soon take legal actions against DharmendraYadav and his volunteers of the GauRaksha Dal, according to the provisions provided under the constitution.

Shastri living in fool’s world, says angry Sourav Ganguly

June 29, 2016 by Nasheman

ravi-shastri-sourav-ganguly

Kolkata: The raging feud between two former Indian captains today turned uglier after Sourav Ganguly lashed out at Ravi Shastri saying the Mumbaikar was “living in a fool’s world” if he held him responsible for not getting the coveted India coach’s job.

Being pipped by Anil Kumble for chief coach’s post, Shastri created a controversy when he said that, Ganguly, part of the three-member high-powered Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) was not present during his interview which he found to be “disrespectful”.

Not one to pull back punches, a furious Ganguly today gave it back to Shastri questioning the former India all-rounder’s “seriousness” while giving an interview while “holidaying in Bangkok”.

“I just feel his (Shastri) comments are very personal. If Ravi Shastri feels that Sourav Ganguly was responsible for him not being the India coach, he is living in a fool’s world,” an angry Ganguly told TV channels, here today.

One of India’s most celebrated captains was even more terse while rebutting Shastri’s suggestion that next time, he should be “present” when an interview is being conducted.

“It angers me that he gave a suggestion that I should be available for such meetings. I have been a part of BCCI meetings for some time and I have always been available. My advice to Ravi is that when the coach of India is selected and one of the most important jobs, he should be in front of the committee and not sit in Bangkok and give a presentation while being on a holiday,” Ganguly said.

Taking a a dig at Shastri’s casual approach, Ganguly said that the former Team Director could have been present in person “especially when one of India’s greatest cricketers of all time spoke for two hours. I am hurt because of personal attacks.

“I read in a couple of newspapers and chose to ignore it. I am extremely saddened that he went on air to express his view. Specially someone who has been in every BCCI committee for the last 20 years. He has been in my position for selecting the coach 10 years back. He is aware of everything. I informed BCCI on June 19th and I have got official mails. I will circulate those mails once I get a clearance from BCCI,” Ganguly said.

Ganguly then went onto add,”I don’t know whether he is serious or not serious but I hope he was if he wanted one of the most important jobs in the game. But if he is talking about respect then he should have been here as well.”

“When you have a three-member committee and important people are involved in the decision making then it is not just about Sourav Ganguly, so these personal remarks have been very saddening.”

On Shastri making comments on public domain against him, Ganguly said:”He should have shown a bit more maturity, especially for someone who has been in such committees for more than 10 years.

On Anil Kumble starting his stint as Indian coach, Ganguly said: “I wish him all the luck. As I said he is the best in the world. He is one of the champions of Indian cricket and he will take this team forward.”

Ganguly did not give a direct answer to the queries about it his animosity with Shastri being an open secret in Indian cricket.

“From my side, I have never gone on to make any comments to the media.”
Ganguly then also gave his account of the itinerary of that day.

“I had informed BCCI that there was a CAB Working Committee meeting that day.

Being a president of CAB, I had to chair the meeting. Also the notification for a Working Committee is always given 14 days in advance whereas this meeting was fixed two days in advance. Ravi’s meeting was scheduled at 4:15 pm and I guess Ravi has got that received as well. BCCI had sent him the time.

“Now while interviewing other candidates, it went past 5 pm and I came out of the meeting. Then Mr (Ajay) Shirke (BCCI secretary) called me and said that others (Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and co-ordinator Sanjay Jagdale) are requesting if they can continue (with the interviews). I said “fine, let’s do that as it happens everywhere in the world. That’s exactly what happened and I feel comments are very personal in nature.”

Patna: A case has been filed in a Bihar court against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for insulting the national flag, a lawyer said on Wednesday.

The case was filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Muzaffarpur district.

The court has fixed July 16 for the hearing.

Prakash Kumar, a resident of Pokhraira village, said Modi insulted the national flag on International Yoga Day (June 21) by using it as a mere piece of cloth, sat on it and also used it to wipe his hands and face.

“Modi’s acts were an insult to the national flag and it hurt millions in the country,” the petitioner said.

He has also submitted a series of pictures downloaded from the internet as evidence in support of his petition.

Hindutva extremists force Muslim youths to eat cow dung, chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’; cops arrest victims

June 29, 2016 by Nasheman

cowdung

New Delhi: A video has emerged showing a group of Hindutva extremists forcing two Muslims youths to eat cow dung and drink cow urine for allegedly transporting beef over a fortnight ago.

Gurgaon Gau Rakshak Dal, an extremist group, infamous for spreading communal hatred in BJP-ruled Haryana and neighbouring states, has openly claimed responsibility for this heinous act. However, the police have arrested the victims instead of the members of the extremist group.

Admitting that they had forced the two men — Rizwan and Mukhtiar — to eat “panchgavya” (concoction of cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd and ghee), Dharmendra Yadav, president of the Dal, said: “We taught them a lesson and purified them too.”

Yadav claimed that on June 10 activists of his group, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle transporting “700 kg of beef from Mewat to Delhi” on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. He said that his group chased the car for 7 kilometres before stopping it near the Badarpur border.

In the video, the two men can be seen sitting on the road, with the ‘panchgavya’ before them, attempting to wash it down their throats with water. Meanwhile, the miscreants are seen threatening and forcing the duo to consume the concoction. They are also forced to chant ‘Gau Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as they swallow the mixture.

Towards the end of the 57-second video, the men begin to throw up on the roadside. The video comes to an abrupt end when a man is heard saying “turn off the video”.

However, Yadav claimed that he did not know who had shot the video. The Gau Raksha Dal reportedly handed over the two men to the police following the incident.

Anil Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sarai Khwaja police station, said that the two men (the victims) had been arrested on June 10. He said the meat in the car was confirmed to be beef.

Faridabad police PRO Sube Singh said that the Gau Raksha Dal had caught two men transporting 300 kg beef in an Accent car bearing a Delhi registration number. He said the case had been handed over to the Faridabad police because of the jurisdiction of crime. The duo have been booked under the Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act. Later, they were sent to judicial custody.

The beef has been destroyed, said the PRO. However, he claimed the police had no knowledge of any video that had been shot forcing the duo to eat cow dung.

The Gau Raksha Dal is infamous for its attacks on trucks and other vehicles in Haryana and Punjab allegedly carrying or transporting beef. The Dal has posted videos online proudly showing off its attacks. In a typical video, those driving the trucks are dragged out and brutally beaten even as the police watch helplessly.

Turkey: Dozens killed in explosions at Ataturk Airport

June 29, 2016 by Nasheman

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says ISIL believed to be behind suicide attacks at Ataturk Airport.

by Al Jazeera

At least 36 people have been killed and nearly 150 others wounded following explosions at Istanbul’s main international airport, Turkish officials say.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said three suicide bombers were involved in the attack at Ataturk Airport late on Tuesday evening.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Yildirim said there was indication that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group carried out the bombings.

He said efforts to identify the attackers, who arrived at the airport in taxis, were continuing.

The attackers opened fire at airport guards at the terminal entrance and a shootout erupted before they blew themselves up one by one at around 10pm, authorities said.

Security camera footage circulated on social media appeared to capture two of the blasts. In one clip a huge ball of flame erupts at an entrance to the terminal building, scattering terrified passengers.

Another video shows a black-clad attacker running inside the building before collapsing to the ground – apparently felled by a police bullet – and blowing himself up.

Most of the casualties were Turkish citizens, a senior government official said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a “joint fight” against terror after the attack.

“If states, as all humanity, fail to join forces and wage a joint fight against terrorist organisations, all the possibilities that we dread in our minds will come true one by one,” he said in a statement.

“It is clear that this attack is not aimed at achieving any result but only to create propaganda material against our country using simply the blood and pain of innocent people.”

One of the attackers “randomly opened fire” as he walked through the terminal building, shortly before three explosions, a witness told Reuters.

“We came right to international departures and saw the man randomly shooting. He was just firing at anyone coming in front of him. He was wearing all black. His face was not masked. I was 50 metres away from him,” said Paul Roos, 77, a South African tourist on his way back to Cape Town with his wife.

“We ducked behind a counter but I stood up and watched him. Two explosions went off shortly after one another. By that time he had stopped shooting,” Roos said.

“He turned around and started coming towards us. He was holding his gun inside his jacket. He looked around anxiously to see if anyone was going to stop him and then went down the escalator … We heard some more gunfire and then another explosion, and then it was over.”

Ataturk Airport is one of the busiest ports in the world, serving more than 60 million passengers in 2015.

There has been a string of bombings around Turkey over the past year, some of them blamed on ISIL, others claimed by Kurdish groups.

Earlier in June, at least 11 people were killed in central Istanbul following a bombing attack targeting a police vehicle. The armed group Kurdistan Freedom Hawks, also known by its Kurdish-language acronym TAK, claimed responsibility for that attack.
