Patanjali eyes Rs 40 thousand crore turnover in FY 21, aims to be largest FMCG

January 25, 2020 by Nasheman

The company expects to have a turnover of Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000 crore in the next financial year, said Yoga Guru Ramdev.

NEW DELHI: Unfazed by the prolonged economic slowdown, Haridwar-based Patanjali Ayurved aims to be the largest FMCG company in the country, beating market leader Hindustan Unilever’s (HUL) turnover next financial year.

The company expects to have a turnover of Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000 crore in the next financial year, said Yoga Guru Ramdev here on Friday.

“This fiscal, Patanjali along with Ruchi Soya would have a turnover of around Rs 25,000 crore and expects to grow up to around Rs 35,000 crore-Rs 40,000 crore by the next fiscal year (FY21). Our turnover has not reduced — that’s a rumour. We have not lost any market share in any segment,” he added.

The company is expected to register a joint turnover of up to Rs 25,000 crore in the current financial year, in which around Rs 12,000 crore is likely to be contributed by Patanjali group firms and Rs 13,000 crore may come from Ruchi Soya, he noted.

After the acquisition of Ruchi Soya, Baba Ramdev-promoted Patanjali expects a three-fold growth, become a major player in the edible oil category and take a lead in the domestic production of soyabean oil, sunflower oil and palm oil.

After 5 months, 2G mobile internet to be restored in Kashmir from Saturday

January 25, 2020 by Nasheman

Restoration of 2G internet facility will continue till January 31 after which it would be reviewed further. Internet and mobile connectivity was snapped on August 5 last year.

Internet;mobile phones

SRINAGAR: After remaining shut for more than five months, 2G mobile internet services on postpaid as well as prepaid phones will be restored in the Kashmir Valley from Saturday but can only be used to access 301 websites approved by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, an official order said.

According to a notification issued by the home department of the Jammu and Kashmir administration, access to the internet with 2G speed on mobile phones will resume from January 25.

Access shall be limited only on whitelisted sites and social media applications will continue to remain out of bounds for the Valley’s residents, it said, adding, data services shall be available on postpaid as well as prepaid sim cards.

The move comes within a week of the administration ordering restoration of prepaid mobile services in the Valley and resumption of 2G mobile data service on whitelisted websites across the Jammu division

The sites approved include search engines and those associated with banking, education, news, travel, utilities and employment.

The latest development comes after the Supreme Court, in a significant ruling on January 10, asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to review within a week all orders imposing curbs in the Union Territory.

The Supreme Court came down heavily on the UT administration for arbitrarily shutting down the internet, the facility described as a fundamental right by the apex court.

Internet services, landline and mobile phones were snapped across Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of the Centre’s announcement to scrap special status of the erstwhile state and its bifurcation into Union Territories on August 5.

While most of the services except mobile internet were restored in Jammu within a week, Kashmir witnessed restoration of landlines and postpaid mobile services and internet facilities for essential services like hospitals in phases.

BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya under fire for ‘poha eating’ comments

January 25, 2020 by Nasheman

He had said that he suspected some of the workers who were recently engaged in construction work at his house, to be Bangladeshis as they only consumed poha.

NEW DELHI/KOLKATA: BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s ‘poha eating Bangladeshi labourers’ comments made in Indore on Thursday has created a political uproar.

While the opposition attacked Vijayvargiya for the comment, even his own party found it indefensible, with Union minister Prakash Javadekar saying, “I also eat poha and serve it to you.

He sought to underplay the comments saying it was a non-issue.

The opposition, however, thought otherwise. The Congress lashed out at Vijayvargiya for connecting food to nationality.

Demanding his apology, party leader Sushmita Dev said the remarks exposed the Modi government’s real intent on NPR and that it had been made deliberately to instil fears in the minds of people and profile them on the basis of food habits.

In West Bengal, ruling Trinamool and the Left alleged the remarks reflected the “racist and communal” mindset of the present BJP dispensation.

Vijayvargiya is the BJP in-charge for Bengal. He had said that he suspected some of the workers who were recently engaged in construction work at his house, to be Bangladeshis as they only consumed poha.

January 25, 2020 by Nasheman

coronavirus

NEW DELHI: Four people were tested for nCoV from Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.  All of them have tested negative for the virus.

The government said that till Friday, 20,844 passengers from 96 flights have been screened for the virus.

On Friday alone 4,082 passengers were screened in 19 flights. Also, travel advisory has been extended to 12 more airports in addition to the current seven.

The development comes even as the total fatalities from the little-understood virus reached 26 and China where over 800 cases of the infection have been confirmed so far announced that a 1000-bedded hospital will be built in Wuhan- the epicenter of the virus outbreak—within 10 days.

As per the World Health Organisation, the 2019-nCoV infection can cause mild to severe disease and be fatal in some.

Commonly observed symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.

In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia or severe acute respiratory syndrome, particularly in those with other chronic underlying health conditions, and even death.

“Based on current information, an animal source seems the most likely primary source of this outbreak, with at least some human to human transmission occurring,” said a statement by WHO which stopped short of declaring it a global health emergency due to limited number of overseas cases so far.

“However, we are still in the early stages of understanding this new virus, where it came from and how it affects people – including how severe the infection is and how well it spreads from person to person,” it said on Friday.

Meanwhile AIIMS, New Delhi announced that it was preparing itself to tackle the cases of virus outbreak by keeping some isolated beds for the suspects who might be brought into the hospital.

January 23, 2020 by Nasheman

In less than one year this is the third such incident connected to PUBG online game reported within the district.

The police soon arrived at the spot and tied him with ropes and moved to district hospital for medical care. The police soon arrived at the spot and tied him with ropes and moved to district hospital for medical care.
A teenager was tied with ropes and handed over to police after he was allegedly found throwing stones at houses and cars in Player’s Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG) style.

To the shock of the residents near Manuguli Agasi, in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, 17-year-old Mallikarjun Chandrakanth, a resident of Laxmi Nagar of Vijayapura City, was found roaming semi-naked and throwing stones at cars and houses.

The local residents alerted Jala Nagar Police Station as they panicked seeing the boy. The police soon arrived at the spot and tied him with ropes and moved to district hospital for medical care.

According to an eye-witness, who wished to be unnamed, “the teenager seems to be addicted to PUBG online game because the way he was throwing stones to car and houses had similar to the one we play in the game. Even in the game at the beginning players will be semi-naked and will have an option to throw apples to opposite players but not stones.”

“At least a couple of cars and houses were damaged with the wild act of the teenager. With the help of the police, we soon rushed him to the district hospital. However, we didn’t register any complaint as he was found deeply addicted to PUBG online game,” detailed a resident.

R So Janar, Police Sub-Inspector of Jala Nagar said that, “On the information given by the people we rushed to the spot and admitted him to a government hospital. As the residents didn’t file any complaint we didn’t initiate further action,” stated PSI Janar,

Meanwhile, District Surgeon Dr Sharanappa Katti revealed that “we gave him basic medical care and collecting the residential address alerted the parents. It seemed the teenager is dealing with mental illness. The parents rushed to the hospital and got him discharged on Wednesday morning stating that they will consult private hospital, “state Dr Katti.

In less than one year this is the third such incident connected to PUBG online game reported within the district. Recalling, four months ago, a youth, who was addicted to PUBG game, was found swimming in a moat which was filled with filthy water.

Dr Ajitha Desai, Psychiatry pointed that, “These kinds of mobile games develop violent and aggressive behaviour among the teenagers. As children will involve deeply in the game they will be ready to do anything in order to win the game. The online games create more excitement in virtual life than that of a real one. The teenagers who are addicted to the game need counselling instead of regular treatment and tablets in order to make them quit the PUBG game.”

“With continuous playing, the PUBG children enjoy killing as there is no emotions from the opposite. It will also motivate them to do the same in real life. It is none other than parents and teachers should educate them about the harms that cause due to excess playing of mobile games or similar to that of PUBG,” detailed Dr Ajitha.

MUMBAI:  As his son Aaditya Thackeray’s ‘Night Life’ proposal got mired into controversy, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, renamed the proposal as ‘Mumbai 24 hours’.

Uddhav said that the tourism minister’s idea is good to keep open the malls, hotels and restaurants 24 hours.

“But I do not like the name ‘Night Life’. I will change the name. This move will not only generate revenue, but also employment in Mumbai,” he said.

Sources said the word ‘Night Life’ has different connotations.

“BJP was giving it a different colour, saying dance bars will be back in Mumbai. Wine and liquors shops will be open 24/7 resulting in a spike in crime. Therefore, Uddhav decided to give ‘Mumbai 24 hours’ name,” said a source.

Interestingly, NCP boss Sharad Pawar’s grandnephew Rohit Pawar has openly come out in support of Aaditya.

“As the opposition has nothing better to do with all their free time, they are talking negatively about the nightlife of a cosmopolitan city like Mumbai. This is a new experiment by the government and we should patiently wait for the results before commenting,” Pawar said.
