India gears up for 6G now. Know internet speed, other features of 6G network

October 14, 2021 by Nasheman

Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman has asked state-owned telecom research and development organisation C-DoT to start working on 6G and other futuristic technologies in order to catch up with the global market in time.

As per theoretical calculations, peak data download speed of 5G is pegged at 20 gigabit per second (gbps).

However, Vodafone Idea has claimed to have achieved the highest peak speed of 3.7 gbps during trials in India. “The telecom secretary has stressed upon C-DoT to keep track of emerging technologies, aligned with the technology life cycle.

He has asked C-DOT to start working on 6G and other futuristic technologies in order to catch up with the market in time,” the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT ) said in the statement.

5G speed

5G network can offer speed of downloading of data to a maximum of 20 Gbps. The maximum speed of data download has reached 3.7 Gbps during testing of 5G network in India. The three companies Airtel, Vi and Jio have conducted speed tests on data downloads up to 3 Gbps in 5G network trials.

6G speed

6G is the sixth generation of wireless technology. A 6G network follows up on 4G and 5G, building on the revamped infrastructure and advanced capacity currently being established on millimeter-wave 5G networks. Using higher-frequency radio bands, it will give networks much faster speeds and lower latency, able to support sophisticated mobile devices and systems like automated cars.

It is expected a maximum of 1000Gbps downloading of data in the 6G network. Media reports said that LG has also started 6G trails and the company had recently started trialling the 6G network in Germany. According to the report, the data was sent and received at a distance of 100 metres during the test. In the 6G network, one can download a 6 GB movie in just 51 seconds at a speed of 1000 megabytes per second.

Highlights of the 6G network

  • 6G network will be 50 times faster than 5G
  • The 6G network in Japan is expected to be launched by 2030
  • Apart from Japan, South Korea, China and Finland are preparing for a 6G network
  • According to a report, millions are being spent in the European Union for the 6G network

Air India under Tata Group will be real challenge: IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta

October 14, 2021 by Nasheman

NEW DELHI: A revamped Air India under the Tata Group will be a real challenge while new airline Akasa Air will be a far less competitive force for the next two-three years, IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said on Wednesday.

“Akasa is a far less competitive force for now or for the next two-three years. They will have to grow and grow slowly, get the slots, get the planes. They are not going to come out of the box, raring to go. There will be a slow build.

“And against that, I think we have good defences. We are the lowest cost carrier. It will be tough for anyone to get their costs lower than us,” Dutta said in a pre-recorded interview at an event organised by aviation consultancy firm CAPA. Whatever numbers anyone looks at, “we are running a damn good airline” with very low costs and with a great network, he added.

“In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, we opened nine new domestic stations,” Dutta said.

“So, for a new entrant, it will be tougher to compete with us. But (new) Air India — that is the real challenge for us,” he added.

On October 8, the government announced that Talace Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, has beaten a consortium led by SpiceJet promoter Ajay Singh by offering Rs 18,000 crore to win the bid to acquire debt-laden Air India.

Dutta said Air India will be a formidable force under the Tata Group and IndiGo does not take it lightly at all.

“Internationally, they will be a strong competitor. Domestically, they have now three carriers — Vistara, AirAsia India and Air India — all put together.

So they will be tough competition. I see them as a formidable force,” he noted.

Dutta said IndiGo is currently operating approximately 85 per cent of its pre-Covid domestic flights and around 40 per cent of its pre-Covid international flights.

“We are not growing a lot in the next 18 months or so.

After that, we start growing,” he stated.

Uttar Pradesh gangrape accused arrested

October 14, 2021 by Nasheman

NEW DELHI:  Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Wednesday said they have arrested the key accused in a gangrape case of a 55-year-old Scheduled Caste woman in Jewar three days ago.

The incident has snowballed into a political controversy with opposition parties such as the BSP and the Congress hitting out at the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over the issue of women safety.

“Accused Mahendra was arrested on Wednesday from a spot near his village in Jewar. He was picked up by a joint team of the Jewar police, the Special Operations Group and the SWAT,” said police.

“A reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on information leading to the arrest of Mahendra in the wake of the incident in which another person has already been arrested and sent to jail,” he added.

An FIR in connection with the incident has been lodged under IPC sections 376D (gangrape), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force) and 506 (criminal intimidation), police said.

Congress sacks Saleem after gossip on DKS goes viral

October 14, 2021 by Nasheman

BENGALURU: The Congress on Wednesday suspended MA Saleem, media coordinator in Karnataka, and issued showcause notice to former Ballari MP V S Ugrappa, for making uncharitable remarks about KPCC President DK Shivakumar.

The conversation was about corruption when Shivakumar was water resources minister in the 14-month coalition government. Minutes before the press meet, Saleem says in a hushed voice, “Earlier, corruption was 8 per cent. He increased it to 12 per cent. These are all adjustments by DKS… Uppar and G Shankar, the one from Hosapete in Ballari, whom you know. Uppar is from Bengaluru…” Ugrappa interjects to say that Uppar is from Vijayapura, and Saleem says Uppar’s house is opposite former Chief Minister S M Krishna’s residence in upmarket Palace Orchards in Bengaluru.

Saleem continues, “Water resources is a massively corrupt department and if investigated properly, Shivakumar’s corruption will be revealed. Contractors made about Rs 50-100 crore, and if they made so much, imagine how much Shivakumar would have made. He is a collection giraaki.”

Ugrappa responds, “I don’t know this. We all lobbied to make him State president. That’s why I am not saying anything. These are the reasons…” Saleem continues, ‘’DKS stutters when speaking, maybe because of low BP or some other reason, he drinks as he gets emotional these days.’’ He is then heard appreciating CLP leader Siddaramaiah for his “kadak” (strong) body language.

Responding to the media expose, Shivakumar said, “You have shown that they have spoken ill against me. I will not deny it. I am not connected to what they have spoken. I was never part of any ‘percentage’ (share in contracts) and I don’t need it.”

This is the second time the Congress has found itself at the wrong end of the microphone. A few months ago, AICC General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala had whispered to D K Shivakumar that former law minister T B Jayachandra should not be given the Sira ticket, which was picked up by media mikes, kicking up a huge controversy. These developments come about two weeks before the Sindagi and Hanagal bypolls. BJP state president Nalin Kateel demaned a probe by the Enforcement Directorate.

October 14, 2021 by Nasheman

Kiran Gosavi (L) with Aryan Khan at the NCB office

NEW DELHI: Pune City Police has issued a lookout notice for Kiran Gosavi, the man who made headlines after he was seen accosting Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan at Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) office in a viral selfie.

City police commissioner Amitabh Gupta said that the lookout notice was issued on Wednesday and bars him from going outside the country. Police informed that Gosavi is wanted in a case registered with Pune city police in 2018, wherein a chargesheet has been submitted to the court.

Gosavi was the witness in the NCB raid on the cruise ship off the Mumbai coast on October 2. Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik had raised objections to Gosavi’s presence at the NCB office after the arrest of Aryan Khan in the drugs case.

Meanwhile, the NCB had clarified that Gosavi was not an officer or employee of the agency. A case was registered against Gosavi with Faraskhana police station of Pune city on May 19, 2018 for allegedly committing fraud by promising a person a job in Malaysia by taking money.

However, he neither returned the money nor offered the job to the complainant. The accused was booked under sections 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with relevant sections of the Intellectual Technology (IT) Act. Chargesheet was filed in the court as the accused was not found. He is still wanted in the case.

Karnataka’s coal situation comfortable: Bommai

October 13, 2021 by Nasheman

The Chief Minister assured the citizens that there will be no power cuts and there are no power problems at the moment. He said that directions have also been issued to all Escoms to improve their equity and financial condition, and the revenue collected should be given first for coal procurement and then for capital investment, as it is the need of the hour.

An official from the energy department, who was present at the meeting, told The New Indian Express, “The state has to pay around Rs 500-600 crore, including arrears, to get coal from its sources immediately. In the wake of shortage, the three coal supplying units —  MCL, WCL and SCL — which cannot hike the rate, are using the tactic of delayed clearing of dues for not releasing stock, apart from transportation challenges due to the rains. The discussion on how to clear payments so that Karnataka does not lag behind, was also discussed.”

All’s well, says Minister
Davanagere :  Energy Minister Sunil Kumar on Tuesday said that there was no coal shortage and all the thermal power stations were functioning normally. He  said that the Centre was providing the state with 8 rakes of coal for power generation each day. “We have sought 2 more rakes
