Some Bollywood Celebs Can’t Vote For The Lok Sabha Elections 2019

Some of the Bollywood celebs like Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone & 4 other celebs won’t be able to vote in the ongoing Loksabha elections 2019!

The voting season is here & the month-long schedule of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 has begun. It commenced on 11th Apr, 2019 & will conclude on 19th May, 2019.

Every Indian citizen will be casting their vote for the party which they think will serve the country better. As always, B-town celebs will abide by their responsibility & vote for the right candidate too.

However, there are a handful of celebrities who won’t be able to cast their vote and we know the reason why. From Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif to Sunny Leone, Imran Khan & Jacqueline Fernandez, these Bollywood stars will not be able to vote in the ongoing elections & the reasons for that are:-

Well! This may come as a surprise to you but the fact is that Akshay Kumar is not eligible to vote during elections in India, mainly because, Kiladi Kumar was born in Punjab & brought up in Delhi. Still, wonder what is the reason? Well, Khiladi Kumar holds a Canadian passport & that is exactly why he hasn’t been voting for many years.

Deepika Padukone is one of the top actresses of Bollywood & her acting skills are unmatched. While we are aware of almost everything about this beauty, her birthplace is not known to many. The Padmaavat actress was born in Denmark & holds a Danish passport. Although she is brought up in Bengaluru, Deepika Padukone can’t vote in the Indian General Elections 2019.

Alia Bhatt’s mother, Soni Razdan, hails from Britain. Hence, the actress herself is a British citizen & holds the same passport. Ultimately, that means that the Raazi actress is not liable to vote in the forthcoming elections.

Katrina Kaif is an English citizen & it is a known fact. The actress has been in the industry for over a decade but she is not eligible to vote as Katrina Kaif still has a UK passport.

Sunny Leone alias Karenjit Kaur holds a Canadian passport & although she has her roots in India, the actress cannot vote.

Jacqueline Fernandez’s mother belongs to Malaysia while her father is a Sri Lankan citizen. The actress was born in Bahrain & well, these are reasons enough for her not being eligible to vote in the elections in India.

Aamir Khan’s nephew & and actor, Imran Khan, made his Bollywood debut with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He was born & brought up in the United States Of America & moved to India only after his parents’ separation. So he too is not eligible for voting in the ongoing elections of Loksabha.

FIR against SP’s Azam Khan for his vile ‘khaki underwear’ jibe at Jaya Prada

April 15, 2019 by Nasheman

A case has been registered against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan after he was caught on camera making disgusting remarks allegedly against BJP candidate Jaya Prada while holding a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur constituency.

The usage of foul language during electioneering hit a new low Sunday when veteran SP leader Azam Khan made a “khaki underwear” jibe against Jaya Prada.

Without naming the actor, who is fighting as a BJP candidate from Rampur, Khan told the gathering in an election rally there “… you got represented (by her) for 10 years. (aapne das saal apna pratinidhitwa karwaya)”.

“People of Rampur, people of Uttar Pradesh and people of India, it took you 17 years to understand her reality. But, I could recognize it in 17 days that she wears a khaki underwear. (Rampur waalo, Uttar Pradesh waalo, Hindustan waalo, usski asliyat samajhne mein aapko 17 baras lag gaye. Main 17 dinon mein pehchaan gaya ki inke neeche kaa jo underwear hai, woh khaki rang kaa hai), said Khan.

The video of Khan’s purported speech was also doing the rounds on various social media platforms.

Construing Khan’s remark as having made against Jaya Prada, BJP’s state unit spokesperson Chandramohan told PTI, “It’s a very obnoxious and shameful remark.”

“The level of politics cannot fall lower than this,” said the BJP spokesperson.

This remark by Azam Khan reveals the actual face of the Samajwadi Party in which he is expressing his real thoughts about women oblivious of all dignity,” said Chandramohan.

The BJP also asked BSP supremo Mayawati to make her stand clear on “this indecent remark against Jaya Prada.”

National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma too construed Khan’s remarks as having been made against the actor and termed the same as “extremely disgraceful”. She said the women panel will be sending a show cause notice to Khan.

Meanwhile, speaking to media, Khan said that he will not the contest the Lok Sabha polls if proved guilty.

Last week Jaya Prada had alleged that she left Rampur after her “indecent images” were circulated and attempts were made to attack her with acid.

Jaya Prada had won the Rampur Lok Sabha seat in 2004 and 2009 on a Samajwadi Party ticket but later she was expelled for alleged anti-party activities in 2010. She joined the BJP last month.

Earlier in the month, a case was filed against the SP leader for allegedly making provocative remarks against four senior district officials after a complaint was filed by Congress leader Faisal Khan Lala.

Uttar Pradesh is voting for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in all seven phases.R

Former Indian cricketer, Rahul Dravid, is the face of the election commission in southern Karnataka state but he will not be able to vote in the ongoing elections as his name is missing from the electoral rolls.

The Test cricket stalwart, who was made the brand ambassador for the election commission in the state, moved from Indiranagar to Ashwathnagar in Bengaluru, the IT hub of India, but failed to register his name in the new area that comes under Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency.

“After he shifted his house, our staff visited his house many times to enrol him but he was travelling,” Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer, Sanjiv Kumar, told Al Jazeera.

“It’s too late to add his name now,” he said amid reports that millions of names of people, including 21 million women, have been missing from the voters’ list.

Dravid could not be reached for comment as he was travelling.

A senior cricket administrator and chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – a hugely popular T20 tournament – urged the election commission to include his name.

“Amazed to know that brand ambassador of election commission Rahul Dravid who is appealing everyone to vote to save democracy, himself is not a voter. Even if he has not applied on time EC can always get included his name in the voter list,” Rajeev Shukla, who is also a senior Congress leader, tweeted.

Dravid, who was dubbed The Wall, quit international cricket after scoring more than 24,000 runs during his 16-year career.

Both Cong & BJP candidates are vying to pip each other in Chikkodi LS seat By M Venkatesha

April 15, 2019 by Nasheman

Bengaluru, Apr 15 : The Chikkodi Lok Sabha seat, the sugar bowl of Karnataka bordering Maharashtra, is once again witnessing a fierce electoral battle between the two traditional rivals– Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

While the Congress candidate Prakash Hukkeri, who had narrowly pipped the BJP candidate, Ramesh Katti, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, by a slender margin of only 3007 votes, is sweating it out to retain the seat, the BJP candidate is leaving no stone unturned to wrest the seat from the grand-old party.

Hukkeri was the only Cabinet minister, the Congress had successfully fielded in the 2014 elections who succeeded in a photo-finish fight.

The BJP, which is yet to recover from its electoral loss, despite a strong Modi wave in the last elections had fielded Annasaheb Jolle, a well known name in the Co-operative sector in Belagavi district and also one of the prominent industrialists in the region.

The Chikkodi Lok Sabha seat dotted with several sugar factories, both in the private as well as in the co-operative sector, benefitted by the irrigation facilities, drawing water from the Krishna river, in the agrarian district.

While both- the Congress and the BJP candidates- are facing the internal discontent, the Congress’ Hukkeri exudes confidence to sail through in the April 23 elections, as he never missed an opportunity to remain in his constituency and attend the people’s grievances.

The BJP candidate is facing the ire of Ramesh Katti, a former MP, who had failed to earn ticket, while the rebel Congress leader Ramesh Jarakiholi is likely to spoil the party of the Congress candidate.

Jarakiholi, who was sacked from the Cabinet recently, is not actively involved in the campaign for the Congress candidate.

Hukkeri, who had chosen to fight the Lok Sabha elections, in 2014 despite being a Cabinet minister, was so popular that the Assembly seat he had vacated, was won by his son, Ganesh Hukkeri, in the bypolls, by a huge margin.

The BJP candidate, Annasaheb Jolle, a popular name in the co-operative circle in the district, is an industrialist and runs several industries, especially sugar, power and other areas, and his family also runs a co-operative bank, which has branches in almost every villages in Belagavi district.

Jolle,’s wife Shashikala Jolle also a member of the Karnataka Assembly and elected form the district, is also working hard for the success of her husband.

In the eight Assembly segments, both the Congress and the BJP have equal number of MLAs, with four seats each, and the Marathi speaking people living in Nippani and Athani taluks are likely to play a deciding factor in the Lok Sabha elections.

Even though, Hukkeri is the Congress and the JD(S) alliance candidate, hardly there exists any JD(S) base in the constituency.

?With the battle seeming to be a close one, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wave should come to the rescue of the BJP candidate, and the Congress candidate, Hukkeri, also a veteran co-operative man, is banking on his works and easy access to the people?, Gangadhar Hiremath, a resident of Kagawada Assembly segment, said.

While both the candidates belong to the dominant Lingayath community, the significant presence of the Kuruba, Muslim, Jains, SC and ST is also likely to play its role in tilting the balance.

For the Chikkodi seat, which goes to poll on April 23, in the second phase poll in Karnataka, is being contested by as many as 11 candidates, including BJP and the JD(S) candidates.

Modi carring money in helicopters to distribute to BJP leaders : Naidu alleges

April 15, 2019 by Nasheman

Amaravati, Apr 15 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made asensational allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is carrying money in his helicopters to distribute to the BJP leaders.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he alleged that Mr Modi is taking money in his helicopters, taking advantage of the security cover, to distribute to the BJP leaders to win the Lok Sabha election.

He asked whether the Prime Minister would not come under Model Code of Conduct. “Mr Modi is the chowkidar only to the criminals and he ruined the country”, he alleged.

Mr Naidu questioned on why the Election Commission of India (ECI) is not ready to count 50 per cent VVPATs. He informed that the TDP is again approaching the Supreme Court seeking the counting of 50 per cent VVPAT slips.

?What is the objection to the ECI to count 50 per cent of VVPATs. When the Supreme Court asked, the ECI filed a false affidavit stating that it will take six days to count 50 per cent VVPATs, he said and made it clear that the TDP once again will approach the Apex court in this regard.

?When we pointed out the mistakes of the ECI, we are being blamed that we are politicizing the issue?, Mr Naidu lamented. He explained that out of the 190 democratic nations, only 18 countries are using EVMs.

He reminded that BJP Spokesperson and MP G V L Narasimha Rao wrote a book Democratic at Risk, opposing the use of EVMs, but now he is backing the EVMs.

The Chief Minister said that BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a case in the court in this regard but is he not talking against EVMs now.

He said that there are ways to hack and upload EVMs and also control the EVM’s control units from somewhere else. There is also a scope to change memory of micro controls of EVMs and replace memory chip and soft password, he claimed.

Referring to themalfunction of EVMs in the recently concluded general election in the state, the Chief Minister said that after receiving his call, lakhs of voters who went home unable to stand in queue lines for a long time, returned to the polling stations to cast their votes and the voting had continued till 3 am on April 12, he claimed.

He deplored that after the technical snags of EVMs were rectified, violence incidents took place at some polling stations in the state.

Mr.Naidu said that the opposition parties are going to prepare an action plan to launch a peoples’ agitation against the attitude of ECI.

He claimed that there in an undercurrent in favour of the TDP and predicted that the party would win about 150 Assembly seats.

Rafale deal: Apex court contempt notice to Raga over ‘chowkidar chor hai’ comment

April 15, 2019 by Nasheman

New Delhi, Apr 15 : The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi on a contempt petition filed against him by the Bharatiya Janata Party MP, Meenakshi Lekhi, for his alleged comment on the Rafale controversy, denigrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, sought a detailed reply from Mr Gandhi on his alleged comments.
Ms Lekhi had filed a petition in the apex court after the Congress president allegedly made derogatory remarks against Mr Modi at a recent rally.
The bench asked Mr Gandhi to file his detailed reply by April 22 and set further hearing for the following day.
SC disputes Raga claim of moral victory
Mr Gandhi had allegedly claimed a moral victory and said the apex court had made it clear that the PM “committed theft” in the big ticket fighter jet deal with France.
The Supreme Court had ruled that the leaked Rafale documents could be relied upon to review a previous judgment
Ms Lekhi then had moved the apex court seeking initiation of contempt against Rahul Gandhi.
She also stated that action should be initiated against him for levelling unsubstantiated charges against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal.
Setback to Rahul
The apex court’s issuance of notice to Mr Gandhi is seen as a big setback for him, in the midst of Lok Sabha elections.
Directing Mr Gandhi to explain his statement ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ attributed to the Supreme Court, the CJI-led bench made it clear that it had no occasion to make such kind of observation, it had only decided on the legal question of admissibility of documents.

Pakistan : Five IS militants arrested in Karachi

April 15, 2019 by Nasheman

Islamabad, Apr 15 (Xinhua) Police in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi have arrested five militants affiliated with proscribed organization Islamic State (IS) during a search operation, local reports said Monday.
The raid was conducted on an intelligence tip-off regarding the presence of the alleged militants in their hideout in Gulshan-e-Maymar area of the city, ARY News quoted local police as reporting.
Arms and ammunitions were also recovered from the five militants who were accused of radicalization and indoctrination of Pakistani youth by using social media platform.
The arrested suspects were shifted to some unknown location for investigations.
The raid came two days after IS claimed a deadly suicide attack in the country’s southwestern Balochistan province. Targeting a minority Shiite ethnic group, the explosion left over 20 people killed and scores of others injured.
A senior security official from Balochistan earlier told Xinhua that the IS recently announced its “revenge for defeat in Syria,” and authorities got a tip-off that Pakistan might be an easy target for the local militants returning back to their countries of origin from Syria after the defeat.
Security was beefed up across the country following Friday’s IS attack, and Monday’s raid is being taken as a timely act by the law enforcement agencies to foil the possible IS attacks in the future.
