Speaking on the occasion R. A. Janab averred, “I as a State President of our newly launched party “Secular Democratic Congress” wish to point out that the current political parties are misusing their power for example one of the party is scaring the wits out of the minority community to garner votes since the last 7 decades while the other parties are hoodwinking the voters in the name of the cast & the religion. But we are going to appeal to the voters to cast their votes in the name of secularism. And even if 5 MP’s from our party are elected from our party from all over India we can assure the masses that we will definitely bring in a lot of changes that is the main motive of our party.”

PP John explained about the main aim of the party by stating that, “We needed a national platform for people who support for peace, communal harmony & non – violence. We are going to be the voice of such people to solve their grievances. We want people to come forward to strengthen the party not with the expectations of what the party can do for them but with the resolution of what they can do for the party in the initial stage.”

I especially liked the Ideologies that no party should be formed on the basis of religious discrimination. So we decided to form this party which will support farmers, women, children, backward class, minority, SC/ST, youth & senior citizens to solve their problematic issues as none of the existent party thinks about them. Our party aims to bring about a well-deserved change which is the main requisite in today’s ailing society.”

In the end it want be out of place to mention the newly launched party’s well-planned manifesto. Secular Democratic Party will truly stand for & work for secularism, parliamentary democracy, peace & communal harmony all over India. It will also stand for equal rights, privileges & obligations to all sections of the society including the common man, the farmers & the laborers. The party will also work for the upliftment of women & gender equality in society. More over the party will also strive to fight corruption in the society, communal hatred, unemployment, freedom of expression etc. So it’s time to join hands together to make a secular, democratic, peaceful & prosperous India in tandem with the party Secular Democratic Congress.

Tensions peak ahead of municipal polls in Valley

October 8, 2018 by Nasheman

Srinagar/Jammu Amid tight security and heightened tensions ahead of the start of staggered municipal polls in the Kashmir Valley, suspense mounted on Sunday on voter participation amid militant threats to both candidates and voters.

It is the first time the authorities have not publicized the names of contesting candidates in the troubled valley.

This has been done to address the security concerns of the candidates who remain under threat from the militants.

Authorities have also ensured that all the candidates in the valley are in a secure accommodation ahead of the poll process.

The Valley’s two major parties, the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are boycotting the elections.

So have the CPI-M, the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) headed by Hakim Yaseen and the Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) headed by Ghulam Hassan Mir.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and independent candidates are the only contestants.

While 244 candidates have been elected unopposed, there are no candidates in the fray in 159 municipal wards of the Kashmir Valley.

Statistically, 29 percent of voters will have no candidates to choose from in their wards in the valley.

The election campaign has not been witnessed at any place in the valley.

While secrecy surrounds the contestants, a huge question mark remains on who will stick their neck out on Monday to vote.

While militants have issued threats to both candidates and voters, separatist leaders have called for a protest shutdown in the Kashmir Valley on Monday.

Tension was palpable in the region on Sunday as the authorities beefed up security across Jammu and Kashmir.

Four hundred additional companies of paramilitary forces have arrived here to augment the existing strength of security forces.

In Srinagar, three wards will see polling.

Scores of motorbikes were seized by the police at various check posts in the city on Saturday and on Sunday on account of lack of documents or in cases where the bikers had violated traffic rules.

All vehicles entering the city were being thoroughly checked.

Hi-tech electronic surveillance equipment is being used to strengthen human intelligence in areas where polling is scheduled.

In addition to three municipal wards in Srinagar city, polling for municipal committees of Kupwara, Handwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Chadoora, Badgam, Khansahib, Achabal, Devsar, Kokernag, Qazigund and Kulgam in the Kashmir Valley as well as Leh and Kargil in the Ladakh region is scheduled for Monday.

In Jammu region, polling for municipal committees of Bishnah, Arnia, R.S. Pura, Akhnoor, Khour, Jurian, Rajouri, Thanamandi, Nowshera, Kalakote, Sunderbani, Poonch and Surankote will also take place on Monday.

In addition, voting will be held for the Jammu municipal corporation.

ED attaches Nirav Modi’s foreign assets worth Rs 637 cr

October 1, 2018 by Nasheman

New Delhi The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said on Monday it has attached foreign properties of fugitive diamond jeweller Nirav Modi worth Rs 637 crore in its ongoing investigation into the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud.

A senior ED official said that the financial probe agency has been working in close coordination with other foreign agencies in order to identify and attach foreign properties of Nirav Modi kept secret at various international locations.

The attached properties were in the form of jewellery, bank accounts and immovable properties.

The official also said that it has brought diamond jewellery worth Rs 22.69 crore back to India from Hong Kong.

According to the ED, a stock of jewellery was exported to Hong Kong after a case was registered against Nirav Modi by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in January.

This was kept in a vault of a private company in Hong Kong on behalf of Nirav Modi.

“The agency contacted the company and its London headquarters and after much persuasion and follow up, it successfully brought back the jewellery to India,” the official said.

He also said that the stock value of the jewellery was around Rs 85 crore and the jewellery was sent to Hong Kong by Firestar Group of Companies. On independent valuation, the value of jewellery came to Rs 22.69 crore.

The ED has also attached a flat in south Mumbai worth Rs 19.5 crore which was on the name of Nirav Modi’s sister Purvi, who is a Belgian national.

The official said that the flat was purchased by Purvi in 2017 and the deed was signed by Nirav Nodi’s brother Neeshal, who is also a Belgian national and who held a power of attorney.

“But the consideration of the flat was paid by Purvi through her Barclays Bank account maintained in Singapore,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the agency also attached five bank accounts containing over Rs 278 crore, belonging to Nirav Modi, Purvi and others in the case.

Interpol has issued an RCN against Nirav Modi, Neeshal, Purvi and his executive Subhash Parab.

Interpol on Monday on the request of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and ED issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against Nirav Modi’s trusted official Aditya Nanavati in the PNB fraud.

According to CBI sources, Nanavati’s links with Neeshal have been found.

Nanavati used to head the operations of the Firestar Diamond’s business in Hong Kong. It is learnt that he was also in Belgium.

Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi of Gitanjali Group are under probe by both the CBI and ED. The ED had on May 24 and 26 filed the charge-sheets against both.

Non-bailable warrants have been issued against them.

Nirav Modi left India along with his family in the first week of January, before the scam was reported to the CBI.

Germany to stick to Iran n-deal: Minister

September 29, 2018 by Nasheman

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has said that Berlin is committed to the Iran nuclear deal even though Washington has pulled out.

“The nuclear agreement with Iran may not be perfect. But so far, it has prevented Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and averted an escalation that, three years ago, was highly likely,” Mass told the General Assembly on Friday.

“That’s not insignificant,” he said. “We, Europeans, therefore stand together by the agreement.”

“The fact that we stand by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) does not mean that we are turning a blind eye to Iran’s destructive role in the region or to its ballistic missile program,” said the Minister, referring to the July 2015 nuclear deal drawn between Iran and the six nations — Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the US.

US President Donald Trump in May announced his decision to withdraw from the deal and renew sanctions on Iran, Xinhua news agency reported.

Maas also talked about measures to circumvent the US sanctions against Iran. “We are working on keeping economic exchange with Iran possible, and we call on Iran to continue its full commitment.”

Earlier on Monday, EU’s foreign and security policy chief Federica Mogherini said that the European Union will set up a legal entity to facilitate legitimate financial transactions with Iran.

The legal entity will allow European companies to continue to trade with Iran in accordance with EU law and could be open to other partners in the world, Mogherini told reporters in New York after she chaired a meeting of the foreign ministers from Iran and the five countries that were still committed to the deal.
